Accounts Payable Clerk

Aurora, ON | Full-Time | Onsite (5 Days/Week)
$60,000 – $70,000 Base Salary

About the Opportunity

Our client is a family-owned organization with a strong reputation in its industry and a collaborative, team-oriented culture. They are seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to join their accounting team and support multiple operating entities.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the accounts payable function while supporting broader accounting and finance operations.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Finance team, the Accounts Payable Clerk will be responsible for managing the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice processing, vendor management, reconciliations, and payment administration. The role will also provide support for month-end activities and general accounting functions.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and customer service are equally important.

Key Responsibilities

Process a high volume of vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner
Review invoices for appropriate coding, approvals, and supporting documentation
Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation where applicable
Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, pricing issues, and vendor inquiries
Process employee expense reports and corporate credit card transactions
Prepare weekly payment runs, including EFTs, cheques, and electronic payments
Maintain vendor records and assist with vendor onboarding
Monitor outstanding payables and ensure timely payments
Respond to vendor and internal inquiries professionally and promptly
Ensure compliance with internal controls, approval processes, and company policies

Reconciliations & Reporting

Perform vendor statement reconciliations and resolve outstanding items
Reconcile accounts payable subledger balances
Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations as required
Investigate and resolve discrepancies and variances

Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
Minimum 2 years of Accounts Payable or accounting experience
Experience processing high volumes of invoices
Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and accounting fundamentals
Experience using accounting or ERP systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
