Full job description

Highland Packers Ltd.

We have been producing fresh high-quality meat products for over 60 years. Delivering all around the Niagara, Hamilton, and Toronto regions.

General Labourer
We are currently looking for permanent full-time employees (this opportunity is not suitable for students) available to work Days - Monday through Saturday (Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday) on 9 hour shifts between 6am-4pm (OT available) within our meat production area. You will be helping further process and organize meat products to prepare them for delivery. There are advancement opportunities to move into a meat cutter/butcher role for the right candidates. We are not on a bus route, you will need to have your own transportation.

Work environment

Physically demanding and fast paced
Handling of heavy loads - lifting 50pnds
Departments are refrigerated/Colder conditions
Noisy and some areas may have odours
Transport raw material, finished products and packaging materials throughout plant and warehouse manually, or with powered equipment
Measure and dump ingredients into hoppers of mixing and grinding machines
Remove filled containers from conveyors and manually pack goods into bags or other containers
Clean Work Areas
Check products and packaging for basic quality defects
Sort, pack, crate and package materials and product
Preform general labouring duties

Abilities:

Experience in Food Processing is an asset
Ability to work under pressure to meet production deadlines
Ability to lift approximately 50lbs
Ability to preform physical and repetitive job duties
A commitment to safety and quality practices
Attention to detail and also demonstrate hand-eye coordination
Basic English communication skills
Computer skills considered an asset
You are legally eligible to work in Canada

Hours:

Must be available to work hours as posted above for day - Nine hour shifts (OT available)
