Our North Vancouver-based boutique law firm is rapidly growing, and we urgently need a civil litigation lawyer with 10 years of litigation experience. You’ll be joining a dedicated team of 7 lawyers, paralegals, legal assistants, and support staff.
- 10 years or more experience required.

- Must have an active Law Society of BC license.
LONG-TERM CONTRACT POSITION, fee split.
Must have at least 10 years or more experience handling complex civil litigation matters, including some or all of the following:
- Corporate/shareholder and partnership disputes
- Contract disputes
- Builders' liens, foreclosures, and insolvencies
- Debt collection and loan agreements enforcement
- Real estate and property disputes
- Matters related to negligence
- Matters related to defamation
- Estate Litigation
- Tort claims

What you’ll be doing: On a day-to-day basis, you’ll navigate complex civil legal issues on behalf of our clients.
1) You’ll be responsible for advising our clients on their legal rights and obligations as a civil barrister and solicitor.
2) You’ll be responsible for representing our civil law clients in litigation matters. This includes:
- Representing and guiding our clients through the process of legal proceedings, mediations, and court appearances
- Conducting legal research and analysis
- Filing applications
- Developing trial strategies
- Drafting legal documents such as contracts and agreements, pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Maintaining strong relationships with opposing counsel
- Making sure records of case progress and client communications are up to date and accurate
- Ensuring high standards of client communications and relationship building
- Leading settlement negotiations
3) You’ll also be required to act as the responsible lawyer on the files you work on. This includes performing your tasks with excellence, as well as assigning appropriate tasks to paralegals, articling students, or legal assistants, and ensuring the tasks are completed in an accurate and timely manner. This also means accurately budgeting your time and activities to attend to client matters in a timely manner and monitoring the funds in trust to ensure adequate funding is in place.
Experience and qualifications you must have:
- At least 10 years or more of experience working as a lawyer in Canada, but preferably BC.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active Law Society of BC license.
- Strong civil litigation experience.
