Full job description

Overview
The Human Resource Manager will be the lead for all HR-related matters in the delivery of a broad range of Human Resources services for Tl’etinqox Government. This role includes but is not limited to recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training, talent and performance management. The successful candidate will possess the ability to identify organizational appropriate opportunities to implement sustainable change initiatives, collaborate with TG Managers, and align HR policies and procedures with the vision set by Tl’etinqox Government Chief and Council.

Responsibilities

Be a lead for Human Resources including recruitment, onboarding, performance and change management, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning and succession planning.

Provide guidance to Managers on disciplinary measures, including termination, and collaborate when necessary with external HR professionals.

Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues.

Build trusting relationships across the organization through knowledge and understanding of the departmental needs.

Support with training, counseling, and coaching staff.

Develop an/or maintain database of job descriptions for all TG departments.

Develop wage and salary matrix for TG staff.

Support the implementation and ongoing use of HR policies, projects and programs, focused on enhancing performance and growth.

Ensure employee onboarding program is aligned with department need and culture while maintaining consistency with an overall organizational approach.

Promote a respectful workplace and supports health & safety and health & wellness initiatives.

Provide change management support and participate in organizational Human Resources projects as needed.

Remain current with external Human Resources best practices and federal and provincial legislation and processes as well as new trends.

Be a role model for professionalism when representing TG internally and externally.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary in the performance of the position.

Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with TG policies, standards and procedures, and as requested by the CEO.

Maintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of TG.

Skills & Experience

A suitable qualification such as CPHR.

Previous experience working for a First Nations community or in a First Nation environment is considered an asset.

Strong business acumen with thorough problem-solving skills.

Excellent computer skills, knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), demonstrated skills in record keeping.

Ability to navigate a dynamic, fast-pace environment.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Resourceful and resilient; strong organization skills with the ability to effectively respond to continually changing internal and external organizational conditions.

An understanding of, and appreciation for First Nation culture.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions

Occasional travel will be required.

Ability to attend and conduct presentations.

Overtime as required.

Flexible hours on occasion as required

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $100,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
