The Opportunity:
The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for an Information Technology Analyst to fill a full-time permanent position. Under the direction of an Information Technology Supervisor or Coordinator, the Information Technology Analyst provides all levels of technical resolution to clients and operational solutions relating to hardware, software, network, voice, and related client technology. This position performs these main functions/duties:
- Supports client business units in their use of information technology and business systems.
- Technology Service Centre support for clients.
- Performs desk-side hardware and software troubleshooting as well as regular hardware refreshes.
- Performs information technology administration and other duties and responsibilities.
Top Key Responsibilities:
- Configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of desktop computers, mobile computers, operating systems and related client software.
- Manage and maintain endpoint security, including security patches, antivirus management, user permissions, and compliance with security standards.
- Configure, install, and support desktop computers, mobile devices, operating systems, printers, phones, and related client technologies.
- Deliver technical support through the Service Centre by handling service requests, troubleshooting issues, tracking incidents, and following escalation procedures.
- Research, evaluate, recommend, and implement new technology solutions, hardware, software, and system upgrades that improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Providing daily operational support and maintenance to ensure a reliable hardware and software environment for all types of technical systems and business applications
- Specifying, evaluating, building and implementing technical systems, including new hardware and software solutions as well as upgrades to existing technical systems.
- Participate in or lead IT projects by contributing to project planning, resource estimation, documentation, vendor coordination, progress tracking, and implementation activities.
- Create, maintain, and update technical, procedural, and project documentation, training materials, inventory records, and statistical reports.
Collaborate with clients, business units, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support business needs, provide technology guidance, ensure SLA compliance, and maintain effective IT service delivery.

As our preferred candidate, you will have:
- Must have a two-year technical computer diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience in an Information Technology Services environment.
- Must have three years’ experience in a comparable position:
- Working in a medium to large sized networked environment
- Using and troubleshooting modern Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- Working with PC hardware and software systems (install, maintain, administer, and configure).
- Performing routine maintenance and support of technology hardware and software systems.
- Experience in the following will be an asset:
- Working in specialized environments like Emergency dispatch center
- Experience with endpoint management, troubleshooting
- Familiarity with Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), mobile data terminals, and alerting technologies.
- Networking experience with a good understanding of the TCP/IP suite of protocols
- Must have demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Information Technology Staff, end-user department personnel and outside vendors & consultants.
- Must have the ability to exert moderate physical effort (e.g., lifting computers and related equipment)
- Must have excellent verbal and written communications.
- Must have the ability the ability to work with limited supervision.
- Must have the ability to work in a demanding and frequently stressful environment.
- Must have valid driver’s license and be able perform field service calls.
- Must be available to perform after hours call out duties on a scheduled basis.

Remuneration: $37.83 to $57.40 per hour
Hours of Work: 75 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, some evening and weekend work may be required.
