Full job description

Role Overview:

The Health & Safety (H&S) Coordinator is responsible for minimizing the risk of job-related accidents, monitor operations to eliminate hazardous activities, and develop policies to promote occupational health and safety (OSH) awareness. The associate’s work will be focused on prevention. You will possess a keen eye for detail and a sensitivity for potential dangers requiring you to be diligent and analytical

The goal is to support the creation of a healthy and safe workplace.

Day Shift - 8am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday

Duties:

Ensures plant safety rules are effectively implemented, housekeeping standards are followed and required personal protective equipment is used.
Responsible for Daily, Monthly and Annual Inspections to ensure workplace compliance.
Investigate workplace incidents or accidents, analyzing root causes, and recommending corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Develop and implement emergency response plans, conduct drills, and ensure the availability of first aid and emergency equipment.
Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on safety procedures, emergency response, and the proper use of equipment.
Facilitate communication about potential hazards, safe work practices, and procedures among employees.
Assess the need for and ensure the proper use of PPE, providing guidance on selection and maintenance.
Address environmental factors affecting health, such as air quality, noise levels, and ergonomic considerations.
Research, plan, organize and conduct training programs to employees, with regard to WHMIS, Orientation, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid, industry specific related issues, etc.
Effectively communicate safety-related information to all levels of the organization, promoting awareness and understanding.
Maintain MSDS documentation for all sites.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to safety, including incident reports, training documentation, and safety plans.
Responsible for maintaining the documentation and paperwork of any H&S Related activities.
Comply with all the guidelines prescribed by OHSA.
Serve as a Fire Safety Team Member.
Perform other assigned duties.
Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as safety specialist or similar.
In-depth knowledge of OSH guidelines and practices.
Experience in reporting and developing policies.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with the ability to create and manage documents, spreadsheets, email communications, and presentations effectively.
Diligent with an analytical mind.
BSc/Ba in health and safety or relevant field.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Pay: $55,000.00 per year

GMP: 2 years (required)
Food Defense and Safety : 2 years (required)
