Finance Operations Manager (Part-Time)

Location: Calgary, Alberta (Hybrid)

Schedule: Approximately 8 hours per week (1 day/week) with occasional flexibility during month-end.

About Feraform

Feraform is a commercial concrete formwork contractor that's been serving Alberta for over 18 years. We've built our reputation on quality, commitment and long-term relationships.

As we've grown, we've built a strong operations team and established systems in the field. Now we're looking to strengthen the financial side of the business.

We already have an experienced outsourced bookkeeper and a fractional CFO.

What we're missing is someone to own the day-to-day finance operations of the business.

The Opportunity

This isn't a bookkeeping position.

It's a leadership role responsible for improving how the financial side of the business operates.

Your role is to ensure ownership receives timely, accurate financial information, cash flow visibility and meaningful reporting that supports better business decisions.

You'll work directly with the CEO while coordinating with our outsourced bookkeeper and fractional CFO.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Financial Operations

Coordinate the monthly financial reporting process.
Ensure month-end closes are completed on schedule.
Review financial statements and identify trends or concerns.
Develop and maintain financial reporting systems.

Cash Flow Management

Build and maintain a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast.
Review weekly cash position.
Recommend payment priorities based on available cash.
Monitor upcoming financial commitments.

Project Financial Oversight

Review project profitability.
Monitor labour productivity.
Review WIP and cost-to-complete reporting.
Identify margin erosion and recommend corrective actions.

Accounts Receivable

Monitor outstanding receivables.
Support collection strategies.
Track holdbacks and major customer balances.
Improve AR reporting and processes.

Process Improvement

Build dashboards and KPIs.
Improve financial workflows.
Document financial procedures.
Reduce owner dependency on day-to-day financial administration.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who has spent time in construction finance and enjoys helping businesses improve—not just preparing financial statements.

You likely have experience as a:

Construction Controller
Finance Manager
Accounting Manager
Director of Finance
Construction CFO

Semi-retired professionals and consultants are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

10+ years of construction accounting or finance experience.
Strong understanding of:
Job costing
Progress billing
Holdbacks
WIP reporting
Cash flow forecasting
Sage (preferred)
Excellent communication skills.
Comfortable working directly with business owners.

What Success Looks Like

Within six months you will have:

A reliable monthly financial reporting process.
A 13-week cash flow forecast.
A monthly executive dashboard.
Improved project financial reporting.
Reduced owner involvement in day-to-day finance administration.
Strong communication between bookkeeping, operations and ownership.
