Full job description

A leading Canadian manufacturing organization recognized for producing high-quality consumer products is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Supervisor to oversee and optimize night shift production operations. This role will play a key part in leading frontline teams, ensuring product quality, driving efficiency, and supporting operational excellence in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Shift Requirement

This position is dedicated to permanent night shifts.
Candidates must be available to work overnight hours and support operational requirements on the night shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning

Develop and execute production plans to meet customer demand while optimizing labour, equipment utilization, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Quality to align schedules with business priorities.

Team Leadership

Lead, mentor, and motivate production leads, operators, and support staff to achieve nightly production targets and maintain quality standards.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.

Quality & Compliance

Ensure production processes follow established quality standards, SOPs, regulatory requirements, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
Maintain audit readiness and ensure all documentation is completed accurately and on time.
Partner closely with Quality teams to address deviations, implement corrective actions, and maintain product integrity.

Resource Management

Optimize staffing, machinery, and material flow to support production demands.
Coordinate with Procurement and Warehouse teams to ensure timely material availability.

Performance Metrics

Track and report KPIs related to output, labour efficiency, downtime, waste, quality, and safety.
Analyze trends and implement action plans to improve performance.

Continuous Improvement

Lead initiatives focused on productivity, waste reduction, process flow, lean manufacturing, and automation opportunities.
Support change management and cross-functional improvement projects.

Health & Safety

Promote and enforce a strong health and safety culture across all shifts.
Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and investigate incidents or near misses.

Budget & Cost Control

Support departmental budgets and monitor overtime, labour costs, and operating expenses.
Identify opportunities for savings without compromising quality or service levels.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, Science, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
4+ years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role within manufacturing.
Previous GMP manufacturing experience is required.
Previous experience leading overnight or off-shift operations is considered an asset.
Strong knowledge of quality systems, SOPs, compliance standards, and audit readiness.
Strong people leadership skills with experience developing high-performing teams.
Knowledge of production systems, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement tools.
Experience using ERP/MRP or production planning software.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
