CUE’s Faculty of Science is seeking a candidate for the position of Assistant Professor, Information Technology in the Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. Our Bachelor of Science programs introduce students to a new way of thinking and provide avenues of research and discovery that could lead to solutions which impact the world around us. The Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences has a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Information Technology as well as a 16-month Master of Science in Information Technology program.
Information Technology is the study of systemic approaches to select, develop, apply, integrate, and administer secure computing technologies to enable users to accomplish their personal, organizational, and societal goals. These programs are geared to fulfill the demand for preparing graduates who will help to improve the province-wide prospect for excellence in computer-based delivery of services and information.
This position is available to begin Jan 1, 2027, or shortly thereafter.
Qualifications:
- A PhD in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field (completed at the time of appointment) is required.

Demonstrated expertise in database systems, software development, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, networking, cybersecurity, and other areas within IT and computer science.

Evidence of a strong research background, including publications in reputable venues or a clear research agenda is required.

Demonstrated teaching effectiveness or strong potential for high-quality undergraduate and/or graduate instruction.

Ability to teach a broad range of undergraduate IT and Computer Science courses beyond one’s primary area of specialization.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in an academic environment.

Willingness and ability to take on academic administrative duties.

Prior teaching experience is preferred.
The normal undergraduate and/or graduate teaching assignment is 6 hours a week in the first year and 9 hours a week for subsequent years. CUE provides opportunities for reductions in teaching to pursue research.
