What is the best part of working at the company?
First being available for the freelance work at their call.  Being punctual and on point during your assignments. 911 interpreters is an organization that functions on clarity and consistency.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There is not a lot of stress in working with the company.  This is because the work environment is amazing and the company is very good with it’s employees.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is amazing and supportive environment. I really appreciate it and I’m glad that I am working for 911 interpreters.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day for me in the company is the assignment emails are sent out and you have to decline or accept the assignment online. When you accept it the assignment will automatically sent to you and when it’s fulfilled, the position is freelance.

I am so grateful to be apart of the 911 interpret team as they have such a welcoming and supportive culture within the company. The communication skills are with great clarity since I have always felt understood when seeking assistance or to clarify a certain task. I also appreciate the fact that the company continuously provides positive feedback to their employees regarding their current performance and how to move forward within the company through enhancing organization skills and ensuring the expectations are clear and understood. They are very supportive in terms of allocating promotions or giving pay raises where it is deemed necessary and appropriate. 911 interpret is an incredible company to work with. I enjoy the dynamic and the culture that helps build teamworking and problem solving skills. Through these years of being apart of the company, I am very satisfied and am excited to be apart of the team for the following years.

Before its major competitor went under, this company has a small team of nice persons in the office, payment is basically on time (45 days after each month) though sometimes late; workflow and instructions are smooth and clear. Its assignment processing workflow is better than its competitors. People in the office are helpful and nice.

Soon after its competitor went out of business, this company has obtained some major accounts used to be handled by its competitor, and has more office staff than before. 

Things get worse since then - new online system malfunctions or stops working quite frequently, and lately, the company has cash flow issue.

If you have a heart and passion to help your native speaking people, and don't mind about late pay check, its a worry-free job working as interpreters..

I have been working with 911 as an interpreter for 5 years now. This job is very fulfilling, and it is amazing to meet so many people and hear their stories everyday. Whenever I have an issue, I can easily resolve it with someone from management. There is a lot of trust and respect between us. Regarding the actual assignments, there is a large variety and I have the flexibility to decline assignments that may make me uncomfortable, or do not work with my personal calendar. Overall, I would definitely recommend working for 911 interpreters. I have worked with other interpretation companies, and 911 definitely treats their interpreters in a very respectful and professional way.  

Basically these people want you to work 2 months free and they'll pay you on the third month but only for the first month. So until you die, your payment will be behind. The job is truly pleasant and satisfying but the way you're paid is so horrific and indecent. The job itself is wonderful and flexible, I loved that so much. I went to a woman community centre and translated a nutrition class. I translated at a Mental Health Center. I visited immigrant families with a nurse and translated on nutrition and related life-skills through nurse. You learn a lot about various topics. You can choose what jobs you sign up for.

What is the best part of working at the company?
911 works 24/7 in all disciplines and several languages. I love working for 911 as an interpreter.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
One may come across distressing stories in his/her career that can as a result cause stress to the interpreter. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is generally impressive and one enjoys a friendly environment working here.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
If a full-time employee, it could be a busy day most of the time, but for freelancers, it is based on call and therefore enjoyable.

The payments take 45 days to get processed and then they send a cheque by mail. When I started in 2016, the cheques were issued on time, but in 2018-2019 they got more and more delayed and the management said it was because the service providers were also delayed on the payments. 
It's the company's responsibility to pay their workers on time, in the same way the company demand that the workers have the responsibility to be on time for our interpretation assignments.
I haven't worked for them since 2019, I hope things have changed for the better. 

The management for paying freelancing interpreters is really unprofessional. If you have any enquiry about your payment, good luck they might answer in God knows when. It takes forever to get paid. They have so many requirements yet their professionalism for paying their employee is really frustrating. Cant believe such a big company would have a system working like this. So disappointed and I feel so unfair for interpreters.

I am happy and proud to be a part of the interpretation and translation team of this agency; I have been working with them as a freelancer for five years. The office staffs are very supportive and friendly, always there for their employees and freelancers by communicating well with them and providing detailed information about all assignments properly. This agency is always trying its best to provide qualified professional services in a respectful manner to its clients.

Pros: 1. Their ERP interface is clean and functional, you set up the days you are available for work, schedule time off, receive invitation for gigs and select the ones you want, log results, invoice the company and follow up on payment, all in one place.
2. Flexible schedule and minimal-or  none- interaction with staff is required.
Cons: They take too long to pay for your assignment, gas and parking expenses. It can be anything between 3 to 5 months. That's basically the reason why I quit. If you are OK with that, then go for it.
