Its just bad. Not enough ACA for the work load. 1-2 ACA inspectors max per project at a time for 4 apprentice mechanics and 1 senior mechanic in average. Low pay when compared to same work near by. No real benefits other than the basic medical insurance, 3-5% REER contribution,  and free filtered water. Management lies in front of your face. Management plays blind to everything going wrong and only increase the salaries when the UNIONS come knock on the front doors. I have even seen intimidation tactics used by management for plenty of reasons.  

Great aircraft mechanic school for learning how to work, getting your logbook filled and getting your M2 license. Great place to become ACA and learning the ropes of the job. Bad place to stay long term. You deserve better.

I would review my e-mail in the morning and respond to any questions or issues. I would meet with the project manager daily to come up with a plan for the week, and go over the schedule and work progress , and address any issues at hand, and keep him in the loop. I would attend site meeting or meet with the Contractor daily on site as well as being in contact with the sub Contractors. I would review the slabs wall etc. for rebar installation and note deficiencies in a written report as well  as talk to the sub Contractor on site to have the issue addressed and corrected on site that day  if possible. I would go back to the office and write up a report and issue it to the appropriate parties. Review shop drawings  and mark up with corrections and issue back to contractor with changes that had to be made.  Issue RFI, CCN,SSI is warranted for the projects.

I've been working at AAR since it was Premier aviation.   There have been many changes in the company during this time, some good and some bad, but I feel that we've become a better company as a result. Usually aviation is a cyclical industry where it's very busy then slow repeating. Since the pandemic began our workload has steadily increased until now we could really use more competent and responsible folk who'd like to help grow AAR Windsor into the future! 
The pay is comparable to other MROs. It starts a little over minimum wage and goes up quickly as you learn the trade. If you're already licenced you can start at a decent wage and go up from there. The consensus among workers is that the health benefits are fairly weak, though the company is working hard to find a better plan for everyone. I've enjoyed working here and living in YQG  and looking forward to what the future of AAR Windsor will be!

The company is good to learn, and I definitely learned a lot in there, my knowledge and skills improved so much at AAR. and I never had any issues with others mechanics or supervisor etc. the hangar floor work environment is amazing!

The only thing wrong in this company is the wages. There is many unlicensed mechanics in the hangar but, at least five get way better wages then  the others. So way they pay more some mechanics that perform similar or below you? 

My opinion, if the mechanic performs good and can get the job done he should not get more than 5 dollars less than the other mechanic with similar or lower performance since we are all unlicensed.
That is the only problem with this company in my opinion.

That is why when the good mechanics gets the TC license they quit! 

So why training people good and have the talent for 2 or 3 years and then  force them to quit due the low wages? 


This place is like high school and if you're not one of the cool kids don't expect a good working environment. Co-workers continually gossip about each other and management lies to your face. Low pay, poor morale and no benefits which is why many are hired on contract. Working hard here only gets you more work. Short term it's just a job, long term catch another bus to a company that shows some appreciation. 

AAR in the USA and TR ( Quebec) is quite great. But AAR Windsor needs quite an improvement. Management is somewhat biased and supports production more. Aircraft supervisors are experienced but quite rude. Management needs to work hard to improve the culture there. Though it has been enhanced over time there is still a long way to go.

Company benefits and pay for office people are better than many companies in Windsor, but they need to overhaul their pay considering inflation post covid.

 


normally i arrive in the office at 7.30am and start of my day with all new businesses. challenges are always there and everyday i learn new things like doing quotations for corporates. my colleagues are just awesome wouldnt ask for more......the best time to work around. sorting out furious clients is so crazy since i am dealing with their money atleast thats what they say. i get to learn new and challenging stuff.

Its a decent place for fresh graduates to learn the job and work towards their license. For experienced chaps, it's better to go as contract staff than full time as the payscale is one of the lowest and Windsor isn't reasonably affordable for a small town. So for everyone accepting a lower payscale expecting a small city living expense, it's going to be a bad surprise. HR is very approachable but overall management is a bit authoritarian.

No exceptional stress. All jobs have demands that are elevated time to time.

Balanced work environment that is generally pleasant

People passed over for promotion for unclear reasons, favouritism and odd managerial culture. While lotta backstabbing. Guys on the floor are over worked and underpaid, but they’ll buy you pizza every 4 months lol
