Upper Management has created a back stabbing environment, where you can't trust anyone anymore. HR only supports upper management but they are not there for the Associates. There are lots of bullies in upper management that are glorified but every one is afraid to speak up and when they, do they literally lose their jobs. Right now they have created a horrible working environment. In the last 6 months, LoyaltyOne's Customer Care centre has lots over 6 excellent Customer Care leaders who were not being supported by their managers. It is a pitty that a company with such potential is run by an innapropiate and ignorant upper management. Upper management has a lot of favoritism with certain associates who look good on the outside, who play the game really well, kiss up, but dont actually work or know anything about the business in reality. There is also a lot of bureacracy. If you become a target, you are terminated very quickly.
They also target people in order to reduce costs and meet their yearly budget and they tend to target hard working people who did not do anything wrong. Upper management also does not like to hear constructive criticism, they dont like people who oppose the changes that are turning away customers. They only want "yes people" onboard who only agree with everything, if you dare to disagree with their proposals, even if you have a great point, you become a target or they shut you up (you get spoken to). What ever happened to respectfully chanllenging the status quo which used to be one of LoyaltyOne's operating principles? They just want people to execute order but they do not really want those who think outside the box, who have new innovative ideas, who challenge the system for better.

Before a brutal culture shift and waves of downsizing, this was a wonderful place to work.  At the end of the day, you are a number, a headcount, a salary. You won't find any Loyalty here.

When applying for a job here, make sure the job matches the description.  Many people find themselves being slotted into a generic role, nothing like what they signed up for.  For many newcomers, this place is seen as a career dead-end.

The environment is TOXIC.  LoyaltyOne is looking for soldiers to simply follow orders.  Innovation is dead at LoyaltyOne, as is their Air Miles reputation.  

When you see management at all levels starting to jump ship (the SVP, CFO for example), you have to start wondering about the future of the company.

Work-from-home for corporate positions is allowed in most cases, but frowned on.  Some management will actually dictate where you can physically work - that is, heads down work in a meeting room can be frowned upon as well.  The level of micro-management depends on the manager, of course.

Working at Loyalty One was a good experience for my career . I have learnt and experimented alot while serving Loyalty One customers at the call center. I learnt how to deliver consistent excellent customer service in French and in English. I have made alot of friends and the general atmosphere was wonderful and amazing.  However , the hardest part consists of pleasing all the customers ( Collectors ).it was a new experience  where i have learnt about a new brand company and the nature of its services. The most enjoyable part of the job was helping the customer book a reward that they truly wanted whether that be a travel reward or a merchandise , there is no greater rush than finding a flight that make the customer happy. the amazing part of the job was when i convince the customer and meet his needs at the same time and finish the call with a big smile on the face and a tremendous happiness.

Arrive at work, log into systems, take calls, upsell customers where necessary. take scheduled breaks and lunches, leave for the day.

I learned how to address customer's needs in a way that would be beneficial to protecting a company's corporate image, I learned a lot about branding for a company as well as personal branding.

Management at Loyalty One was effective and respectful of the individual. However, at times they would not follow through with promises made. 

Co-workers were great.

Hardest part of the job was sustaining sales for long term.

The most enjoyable part of the job was helping the customer book a reward that they truly wanted. whether that be a travel reward or merchandise, there is no greater rush than finding a flight that makes the customer happy.

AIR MILES - biggest stand out is the company culture and people. Hands down.

BUT --
day-to-day cons: 
Those who work on teams that deal directly with partners have roles which are stressful and demanding. You have to explain all of the strange business decisions and mistakes to partners on your own with little support from higher level management. 

Biggest downfall is the Sr leadership team. There has been a lack of leadership and forward thinking strategic direction for quite a few years. We can see the outcomes of this with some huge partner exits (and still no concrete plans). New President and other personnel changes are bringing some hope, but it may be a little too little too late. 

This company is no longer like it used to be. No more is it about the culture or people. 

The loyalty program is significantly de-valued as top management lacks quality and cares only about themselves and how much profits they can scam from their collectors and sponsors or how much costs they can reduce from their suppliers. Their business practices are borderline ethical. They feed you the koolaid by throwing fancy parties and serving free beer on Fridays but anyone who has a conscience will not want to work here.

Over the last 2 years, 80% of the people they have terminated are high seniority associates who have given 15-20+ years into the company. The remaining 20% turnover doesn't stay longer than 2 years. 

Ironically, Loyalty means nothing to them.

I wonder how a company like this reallt makes it to the top 50 employers of Canada...Oh Wait! I know how! We have a sweet talking CEO that throws in an "awesome" party called a town hall meeting with lots of free food, and right the day after, the employees are provided with a employer evaluation survey. 
I worked here for 3 months, and came from a previous corporate background and was tired of being micro-managed by underqualified "managers" or Customer Care Leaders as they would call it. 
  
I was terminated on my last day of a 3-month probation due to a sick leave (documented by a doctors note). Apparently it is not permitted to be sick in this company for the first 3 months. Im still in contact with a lawyer to take this company to court.

I started working there when it was announced that points would expire. At that time, it was non stop calls from the beginning to the end of the shift. It was mentally draining at times. The number of calls went down after they reversed the decision, and they became more manageable. You start doing basic customer service (general questions,account maintenance, order inquiry) then you move up to travel (airline, car and hotel bookings and travel insurance) then to reservations change (flight changes). There are regular team meetings that keep you informed about what is going on and where you share ideas. Customer service was often annoying when the customer asked you about his order and all you could see is that it is being processed with no more info. Maybe it has changed now. The other depts were more fun and challenging.

Great start for new Canadians that need to accumulate valuable experience.
They can accommodate single mothers with flexible scheduling.
Typical call center that places more importance on "metrics" than the customer experience when calling in to the center.
Their Air Miles customers should come first.
Management is more pre-occupied with how many seconds the employee spends entering customer information after the call has ended.  Never mind that the customer had a great experience while dealing with the agent.  If the owners of Air Miles are aware of this, then it's no surprise their customers have a negative view of Air Miles.
