- Trained in Concession, Box Office, Ushering, Guest Services, and Security positions. Also elected to Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Concessionary and Box Office duties ranged from selling both concessionary items and tickets, managing staff and crew as shift lead, preparing and cooking food, and opening or closing concession
- Security shift duties consisted of ensuring the security and safety of the theater, for both guests and employees, checking theaters for those who had not paid for entrance, or those causing a disturbance to other patrons
- Guest Services duties consisted of aiding guests with any concerns, issues, or special needs that they required, and answering and managing any and all telephone calls throughout the building. Management of box office and the floor was also in control of guest services.
Joint Health and Safety Committee Member (JHSC)
- Elected to committee by management with vote of staff and crew members
- Committee duties entailed responsibility for both monthly and yearly health and safety reports, investigation into crew or guest injuries and complaints/concerns, routine inspection of building premises and equipment, addressing concerns through changes in regulation, filing paperwork for JHSC reports, ensuring crew understand and pass WHIMIS training, and proactively maintaining the standard of JHSC regulations during shifts

The hours would fluctuate, but you would get your schedule a few days before your week would begin, so you could plan a week accordingly. Weekends were usually the busiest days, but it was usually pretty slow if there wasn't a marvel movie coming out.
I learned how to push a sale pretty efficiently (Stubs rewards cards), and even got employee of the month several times for selling the most cards.
One of the managers was an angel and could do no wrong. It was a pleasure working for her. A few of the other managers were always in a bad mood, but as long as you are a good employee they didn't give you a hard time. Once in a while they would be really cool too. Probably to say sorry for giving us a hard time. I understand deadlines so it was probably stressful.
Most of the employees are hard working, and fun loving young people.
The hardest part of the job is probably not being able to sit for hours on end. Changing all the movie times could be challenging too.
The most enjoyable part was being at the front of the line with anything pop culture related. You almost get red carpet privileges to movie releases!

Every shift is a different job title, concession, usher or box office. For concession, you would make popcorn,pizza,hot dogs,pretzels, emptying out soda boxes and refilling them, taking orders,greeting customers and promoting specials. For usher, you would clean the theatre, make sure nothing is under the seats, putting out the garbage and recycle, collecting 3d glasses, making sure no one sneaks into another movie, ripping tickets and making sure the bathrooms were clean. For Box office, you would scan coupons and scan points card and selling tickets. I learnt how to interact with customers and making sure they had a great experience overall. Management were amazing, had no complaints and also co-workers helped one another and were really great to work with. The hardest part of the job was trying to improvise when something breaks down and waiting for it to be fixed. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with managers and co-workers.

Weekends and holidays are a must. Huge gap from Manager position to Senior Manager and General Manager.

Anything strange can happen on any given day. This is what makes it exciting sometimes.

The job is not your "typical" Management job of sitting back and delegating. Sometimes run thin enough to work side by side in the front line.

The work is easy, but the management team is extremely unorganized, which leads to a lot of miscommunication and disorganization. There is also a lack of discipline, so people will show up late because they know there’s little to no punishment for it. The benefits are pretty nice, though. 

I worked at an AMC Theatre in Massachusetts. The job was not difficult but it was not easy either. If you have no experience and are looking for a solid footing, then try here. Management was good and communicative. Crew/team were all friendly and maintained professional attitude.

Management was great and team members were great no favoritism or anything like that. Management was fair and fun but professional to work with.

Look if this is going to be your first job then go for it but if you're going into this job looking to grow you won't. You'll get trapped as a crew lead and the promising to give you a supervisor position that will never happen.
