typical day: arrive to the work office in professional work attire. teach, train or self develop sales skills in terms of introduction, presentation, short story, close, objection handling. this would occur at 11am untill 1pm. then we gather our stuff, head to whatever city we would be working in, eat there, either bring your own lunch or eat fast food. starting at 2pm, you should be at your work terrirtory working your laps, acquiring new customer aquisition. Could be for many different companys such as: Bell residential or business or charities. you knock on qualifying customers in which youd have information on what they have and do not have (bell) and customizing your pitch to their needs to gather a sale. you work till 9pm sometimes even 10pm on a slow day. so it basically a 11 hour shift. 

what i learned: how to be a team leader, teach and train others, and acquire new recruitement while you conduct the interview yourself

management: is great everybody is enthusiastic and goal driven. they will learn your name and take you out to sport events or dinners if you are good at sales.

workplace culture: all young, no one really older than 25 at the hamilton location. energetic, ambitious and goal driven. you work hard you party hard. 

hardest part of the job: maintaining your attitude and keep your energy alive throughout the 2-10 shift. despite how many rejection you get throughout the day

most enjoyable: off work when everyone gets together to dinner or drinks and talk about our goals.

Appco was an interesting place to work. They get your hopes up early by helping you memorize the sales pitch and sell immediately. You will make some money but be prepared to be dragged around for a long time selling pointless things door to door. They promise you the ability to move up, but when it comes time to do so they play favourites and only move up the people they like the most. They also keep a portion of your cheque that they promise you will get back after working there for 6 months. I never saw this money and requested it several times.

Good direct sales experience if that is what you are looking for. But in terms of career advancement it is virtually non existent. No benefits, car allowances and you are expected to get yourself to different parts of the city every day, after meeting in the downtown office for morning meeting. Hours were unreasonable. Morning meetings would start at 7:30 until 8:30. Then would hit up businesses around 9:30 and work until past 5 when they would "recommend" you come back to the office at the end of the day. If you do not have a car this job is quite difficult.

I liked it at the beginning because everyone was really laid back and tried to create a good atmosphere.

I got calls from some of my previous clients who I signed up regarding certain guarantees I made (Which I made because I was told so by my superior). However when things went south, these people started calling me because they had my contact info and some were not so polite. Regardless, it has nothing to do with Appco, but rather the companies whose services we were selling (they increased the prices and people weren't so happy). 

I would love to go work for Appco again however I really want to make use of my education as a Chemical Engineer and try to see whats that like.

Also, I noticed that the people who were really successful at this job had practically no responsibilities and no other life but to work. But then again, every morning our manager would tell us that we should be short term hard work, long term lazy, and that's essentially what they were doing.

I worked with Appco for 8 months, the skills taught were very good, they include communication, work ethic, goal setting and much more. But at the end of the day this job will pull you away from your personal life and stress you out beyond belief. I worked in the Hamilton office and earned a leadership role very fast. What I didn't know was the pressure from my manger that came with it. I was constantly battered by phone calls and text messages from him, sometimes him yelling and swearing at me too do better. I didn't enjoy being in the office for 7:30 and then getting phone calls at 10 or 11 at night. This job can teach a lot of skills I can guarantee that. The career progression program is a total lie and scam because you will get taught how build a sales team but we are told to simply hire for quantity versus quality. I am all but sure anyone can get a job here, we have basically hired anyone who has come through our door. At the end of the day you will be so stressed out about this "career"' as they call it, it is simply not worth it at all. Do not work here, tell you friends and family to not work here!!!

Working with Appco was definitely a learning opportunity. Any new immigrants or fresh graduates can use this opportunity to learn basic sales and enhance their communication skill. But if there is a need for livelihood then that wont be a good idea. As the entry level job (Independent Contractor/ Sales Rep.) is only a commission based position without any fixed salary.
But during my short period in this job, I learned many approaches of sales and communication. By watching my team leader and assistant manager I learned how to motivate your team members and how to guide them.

Basically and to make it short, your training is not paid, they brain wash new employees trying to make them believe they will be millionaires from a month to the other, i am still waiting to get paid after quitting over three weeks ago, the only thing you get before going to the field is a cheap fake badge and nothing else. If i wore you, i would stay at home dedicating my time looking for another job instead of wasting your morning and money traveling and working for nothing.

A typical day at work ... sales impacts, leaders meetings, news, high roller dances, bell sessions.

I learned how to sell myself (legally :))

Management ... always reachable. Thats what I liked most about this business. They wanted to help you be better than them.

The hardest part of the job ... the longest hours ever in life.

The most enjoyable part of the job were the people I worked with and the donors/people I met in life. Met some pretty amazing beings.

Working with Appco was both fun and exhausting.

- very long hours:
  a typical work day was from 12 pm to anywhere between 10pm and          12 am
- very hard to have a personal life working these hours 6 days a week
- commission only, no base salary

If you are a very motivated, outgoing person this job is perfect for you. You can make a lot of money in a week if you are good at it.

-Office hours are from 10am-12pm, from 12pm-10pm, all sales associates dispatch to different locations across the GTA.
-Management heavily focused on employee motivation and delivered daily office presentations to ramp up employee morale.
-The coworkers were the best part of the job, you meet amazing and unique people at Appco.

As a fundraiser of Save the Children, motivating and facilitating supporters to maximize the funds they raise
Inspiring new supporters to raise money, while maintaining and developing relationships with existing supporters 
Organizing traditional activities, such as sponsored outdoor events and house-to-house collections of donation

I work 5 days per week, it is huge improve in my communication skill and work attitute.
