Parents should be aware that this school has high teacher turn over rates.  Be sure to request to see individual teacher's certifications no matter what administration tells you.  There are good teachers amongst the many unqualified ones.  Be responsible and get to know your child's instructor.

Teachers were 'money making' machines for this organization.  Their individual ideas and concerns were NOT respected.  The teachers who were willing to work with no breaks and full schedules were the ones considered valuable, even when their teaching standards were less than acceptable and nowhere near the quality of other responsible and highly trained instructors.

Administration often spoke to teachers and families in condescending and rude ways.   They were controlling and manipulative to the point where staff did not feel comfortable having conversations with their peers out in the open, and their opinions and issues were often ignored or not taken seriously.  Many parents complained that their needs were not respected and sometimes felt like they were being talked down to.  They felt forced to buy books and musical instruments and accessories and to sign their kids up for band (a bigger additional cost).

This organizations motto should be "quantity over quality".

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great boss. Very decent guy who cares about his teachers.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Same thing as every music school. Parents who think music lessons will make their kids "smarter" without imposing any discipline for those same kids to practice. Also, bringing toddlers who cannot govern themselves to learn a musical instrument requires a specialist - whether you are one or not - money talks.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very friendly and familiar. Laughs if you have a sense of humour. Not everyone does, unfortunately.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Four or five hours. Not too many gaps which they work hard to fill, if possible.

Working at Arcadia Academy of Music has shaped me into a new and confident person. It has a very friendly environment where every person is welcomed. My coworkers are open minded about their work and each instructor has a different personality and style of teaching. A typical day at work would be to teach approximately 7-10 students each day, each student having a half our private lesson. Some students can sometimes get agitated and distracted from the task at hand which can be difficult to manage. The parents sometimes like to sit in the classroom to watch or if they have any questions or comments. The most enjoyable part of the job is watching my students become better musicians and feeling like I'm part of a family with my coworkers.

The pay is decent if you can get hours which is very difficult. Administration picks favourites and will give more hours to people willing to work without breaks. I was constantly told to force students to buy their books. Not much workplace culture as teachers leave often and I was not given any way of communicating with other teachers in order to align my schedule better with other teachers schedules. I was talked down upon by administration multiple times who would oversupervise me and does not respect teachers. 

I enjoy working at Arcadia Academy of music. The students are great, very fulfilling to watch students progress in music. Management and co-workers are always friendly and great to work with. Hardest part of the job is really managing and preparing students for exams. Most enjoyable part of the job is watching the students succeed and do well in the instrument they play and just getting to play music.

I found a connection with this Brampton location and worked there for 7 years. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Finding a sub teacher when sick or going on vacation.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Busy and the staff were decent.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I was decently busy for 5 hours.

I've been a teacher here at the North Brampton location for a long time and many of the teachers here have also been here a long time, this tells you that good employers keep their staff!  To my knowledge everyone is very happy with how they are treated by the owners and we all work well together.  Its a busy school and our schedules are very full so no complaints.

the management office people is always helpful and organized ! They always help teachers and students to manage their lessons in the best way they can do ! 

Not the best pay, but ok ! Great job for a part-time ! 

Richmond Hill location- Mediocre music instruction.  Terrible performances. Owner/director over exaggerates qualifications.  Teachers are talked down to.  High turnover of teachers & students. 

The pianos were not at the best shape often, they use electric pianos to teach on and not good quality acoustic piano brands nor grand pianos. The boss knows nothing about music and I'm not a fan of the repertoire limitations they only allow.
