The coworkers at most of the houses are pretty good.  Gossip is huge in this agency. Management has gossiped about employees during staff meetings while they were absent.

Management in the office is the same. They will go behind your back and while they may support a decision to your face you can be reprimanded for it later.

Turnover is huge for house coordinators and assistants. They pay so little but expect everything. Coordinators and assistants are essentially on call 24/7 if there's a problem or staff doesn't show.  Pay for those positions is horrible for the workload.

Day program coordinator is the worst. Will go behind your back and gossip to co-workers, which only ends up coming back to you.  She steps in and tries to control the men and women we support while ignoring support plans, especially when they specifically say "if X is having a problem leave X to their staff as multiple people talking will cause problems".  She will still step in thinking she knows better. She will follow you and the individuals into the relaxation room and try to take over as the staff.  Also highly unorganized and does not respect different needs for different people.

The only good thing about this job are some of the co-workers, depending on the house. And the people we support who are kind and sweet.  You will fall in love with them, just don't attempt to make a career from this company.

Awesome job for students or people looking for part-time.

Arcane Horizon has amazing individuals we get to support and good staff to work with. However, this agency has gone downhill rapidly since a recent change in the office has been introduced. The nice perks in the agency are being taken away, one by one to save the company money. The company doesn't have a union, and unfortunately it not only make these changes allowed to happen.. but it also has caused many underlying issues. Such as politics, which is how you work your way up in the agency or get demoted, lazy management, non competitive wages, and misogynistic men in the office who make others feel lesser to them. 

They write people for inappropriate things, such as having overtime. Some of the management put all the work on the assistants and they receive the pay. Some management manipulate people and will find something to punish a staff for if they step out of line basically.

The houses are fun to work in,and the individuals in Arcane are a blast to be with. It's really sad that ultimately, the individuals are the one to suffer as the staff turnover is high here. A lot of the homes are in crisis for staffing due to management and non competitive wages as well, which ultimately again, affects the individuals. 

So ultimately, if you're reading this review.. don't waste your time and dedication to a company going downhill.

Don't work here. The pay is horrible for the amount of work you'll be doing. The management is stuck up and petty; the house can be on fire but they'll still care more about the participant's than the staff. 
It's not worth it. Unqualified people are in managerial positions, it's a very unorganized work place environment and the staff love to talk behind your back and hold a similar mentality. One person even told me to my face, "why did they even hire you, we're not even getting sufficient hours?"
It's a very sad place to work, there's no hope for those stuck at this place. For an authentic person; I didn't stay here for long because there was more that the world had to offer. There's no real future at this place, they don't train you at all. They never gave me a crisis control training and ended up putting me into some bad situations. There's no real concern for the staff. They don't care if you lose your mind, they just want you to show up and work like a peasant. I would never suggest anyone to work here.  The house director was pretty horrible as-well. Everyone is very calculative and they love sucking up to each other; that probably is the only way for them to rise up in this organization.
There was really nothing enjoyable about this job, everything was just monotonous.
If you're reading this then it's still not too late. 

Arcane is a company built on politics and unorganization. You will not be judged on the work you do with the clients; but on who you butter up in the company.  

On top of that, they are a cheap company and will do what they can to save a penny.. such as giving you a write up if you get overtime which isn't approved; or have a drink with the person when they go out to Tims or any restaurant. (Which is standard with this job, they usually just give you a spending limit.)

They will put you in unsafe situations, such as a three client to one staff ratio, just to not pay another staff who may be in overtime. And yet, the staff working three to one will still receive the same wage as they would working one on one. Considering we work with level 5 people who sometimes need to be restrained, that's pretty dangerous.

I would never reccomend this company to anyone.

Support individuals throughout their day, either at home or out in the community. 
Amazing individuals and the chance to build relationships and have fun at work.
Constant power trip and politics when dealing with management. More often than not; a position help by very unqualified people
Lack of support, incentives and appreciation
Wages are low, expectations are high
Low team morale, no consideration for workers efforts or suggestions 
Promotion is based on who you know rather than demonstrated skills

There is absolutely no work life balance. They force you to work 6+ days in a row with no breaks. They will schedule you and make you work even on days you aren’t available and weren’t hired to work on. Clients are allowed to and will yell and threaten you constantly and you can’t do anything about it. you are expected to just sit there and take it. All while management will sit in the office on there phones doing absolutely nothing to help you. they will hire you as part time and refuse to let you go full time all while scheduling you for 60+ hours a week. 

The individuals we are trusted to support are the best part of the job. Unfortunately Arcane doesn't seem to feel the same about the care of their employee's. Constantly under payed and mistreated. Promotions are dangled with no return. They tend to work their employee's until they burn out, then they are replaced. It's the best example of a toxic work environment. Classes could be taught about misconduct based solely on accounts from Arcane Horizon.

Overworked, sometimes put in stressful situations

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not the greatest. It was decent, but not the greatest

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Driving to community members, taking them to their appointments, grocery shopping.

I can work flexible, learned how to deal with different people, how to managed different behavior, i enjoyed work with different people, the hardest part of job when i am leaving the work and move to another because when i stablished rapport and friendship to individual it`s difficult to leave. The most enjoyable part of job, when i become the part of care of individual thru end of life.

During my time at Arcane I had a lot of training in multiple homes which gave me experience. However this company does support aggressive (level 5) individuals making it a high stress job. The management position can take awhile to advance in the company making it difficult for human growth and development. Work was usually rewarding seeing that you can make a difference in someone's life.
