ARISE

Oh how excited I was to work for Arise. Freedom from commuting, more time for my artistic pursuits, and time with family. I'm self-disciplined and have had many contracts in many fields. I wasn't worried about the bad reviews I read. I figured most of the trash talkers were just lazy and bitter and didn't "get" punctuality and personal responsibility.

However, I'm sadly disappointed. 

Training was very long and time consuming, around eight to ten hours a day for me to learn everything since everything except the contracted company's products was new to me. I had expected as much and quit my full time job so that I could focus completely. After all, this was going to be my new long term career. 

The teacher was not the best. She knew nothing about the Canadian company. We were trained in customer sales, fixing bills, that sort of thing. Training was cut short because they needed people to work immediately. We hadn't been trained very much on the system and throughout most of the course, the training rooms were out of order so we rarely practiced. We were told that what turned out to be a number one important thing didn't matter and was just there for a convenience in case we wanted to upsell. 

As others have said, technology is a nightmare, no communication about tech issues, just endless classes, meetings, and workshops, all of which I attended. Suddenly discovered selling trumps customer service at every corner. Customers would laugh at the technical glitches, mocking the company's boast as being leading technology when it's the fifth call in a row that's dropped.

As mentioned, people were fired left and right. Me too. I had great metrics, customers liked me, I wasn't a great seller but I was good with people most of the time. However, I had three stars and was fired before I was even out of nesting. No warning. Nothing. Just started to work and everything was gone.

There are no humans who care about those of us who take these types of jobs in the first place. Most of us are single mothers with kids who depend on us, who else would be so desperate to work for so little? One woman who was in my class had several children, no child support, was trying to work 60 -70 hours a week to survive and she got fired slightly before me. 

Now there are new "opportunities" for Canada through Arise. I've heard they pay below minimum wage and you have to pay to take the classes. I would recommend great caution. It's costly to get into this; classes, weeks of unpaid training, headsets, special phone, designated phone line, computer, cable internet, background check, and if you don't want to go under an ibo, fees to arise and fees to incorporate as a business. There are no guarantees you'll get out of training as you've seen from everyone else's comments.

This is a fantastic business model. It needs better technology, human managers who work with employees to train them properly, and to help people who are struggling, not through a free for all snarky chat room but have trainers there to be supportive  There should have been a couple of classes where we actually went to Rogers headquarters and worked in a mock call center so they could observe and we could get used to navigating the software plus it builds team rapport. When computer glitches occur, such as mass firings based on a star system that's massively flawed, there should be human review and interview on a case by case basis. 

Building team morale and company loyalty starts with job security, decent pay ($15 an hour is a barely livable wage and no one should have to survive on less than that) and people in place to deal with problems and issues, not tickets and robots and chat rooms. The contractor should be treated as a contractor not as an employee.

I thought my eyes were open when I enthusiastically embraced this opportunity. How wrong I was.

Do not believe the hype that Arise and their IBO's promote. The reality is that Arise is only concerned about themselves and pushing sales, but does nothing to keep employees happy; which is why you will continuously see them hiring.

For starters, the training is unpaid and doesn't even begin to cover what is needed to service customers in an efficient manner. You WILL definitely struggle and look like an idiot as the training is not nearly enough to prepare you to be taking live calls. Because of your lack of knowledge the customers become frustrated and angry with you for being incompentent. So be prepared to be yelled at!

Furthermore, you are required to work your agreed upon commitment of hours; however, the hours are rarely available when you would like them, yet if Arise needs someone to work odd hours, they will pressure you to meet your obligation even if it doesnt suit your lifestyle. Expect phone calls as early as 6:00am to ask you to work....if they need you.

Lastly, expect to make third world wages. Their system will crash on you and you will have to keep logging on, which takes 15 minutes and guess what....you do not get paid even though the technically issues is their fault. I spent hours trying to log on to their system; which was not working because of new system changes. I honestly worked 27 hours but only got paid for 7 hours because they don't count the technical time!

In addition, while servicing a client their chat support people will leave you stranded in the middle of helping you if their shift is over; leaving you to start all over again with a new person. Believe it or not, I had 4 chat people leave while a customer was waiting the entire time.

It seems like the perfect job but the fact that my class started with 24 people, only 14 people completed the training and 2 people were actively servicing 2 months after starting says it all!

Arise is an amazing platform that provides all the tools necessary to be successful. You can easily advance with the amount of opportunities available. Training is not paid but it is not just on the job training. These are courses taught over the span of 3-4 weeks. When I started with Arise, we had to pay for the courses just the same as a trade school or college. It is now offered for free in Canada which helps quite a bit. I honestly recommend the Arise platform to anyone. You get to create your own schedule. You can work as much or as little as you like. You are your own boss as this is all independent contracts. Its perfect for someone who can only wants to work a few hours every now and then for extra cash, or there are hours available for full time and overtime. Its free to start so its not a waste of money. I wouldn't ever say its a waste of time because you learn new skills and gain experience.

Work was horrible. I didn't have enough training to use Rogers' over-complicated databases and the monitor staff were not helpful. The training and then work made you feel like a lost prisoner in a maze in your own bedroom! Their expectations were unrealistic and the customers were rather mean. The job has no security financially, it is merely "feast or famine." It's also not stable in terms of gaining work shifts and you have to fight with people to get the shifts online that you want. I do not recommend Arise Virtual Solutions for training or working from home for anyone.

Home is for relaxing. I personally would prefer to keep my work space as far away and separated from my private space in my home.

this a worst company I have ever seen. Worked for Rogers through Arise for a year although I worked through vendor I was not paid for mths I made 100's of inquiries but I know that Arise was not paying their other contractor who were working. They will want you to work like machine ethics doesn't exist in this company. I worked for Rogers agent other agent use to give false information to customers to sell products and poor customers, most of the time they were screaming at me, although I got more good reviews than not. But I was never appreciated by arise. They only focus in selling don't care about values. I will never suggest anyone to work for this company. Management is HORRIBLE, Job security is HORRIBLE, culture values 0, Compensation benefits they are looters they don't pay their employees.

Arise fire employee if they dont meet the 50 nps. I worked they and worked hard but their Tier 2 are not well trained, if you go for help, they can resolve the issue, so the customer gives a bad survey and Arise fire employees with less than 50NPS from the customer survey. Stay away from arise if you want a stable job. A lot of people I know got fired for reasons not being their fault. They gave no warning. I check starmatics and found out my hours where gone. I contacted my IBO before I was told I have been fired. NO PRIOR WARNING.

The most peaceful job I ever had to work at Arise. Even though it was a work from home job but I took it professionally. It was very relaxing job. Management was friendly and sober. They always mentoring and coaching employee to reach their goal. The job was three years contract. The most enjoyable part of the job to sale the product. The hardest part was some time the communication is header with customer due to networking problem. Otherwise, it was a very marvelous place to work

Gave it 2 stars only because I worked remotely, the only advantage. Simple enough job, no support, no reliable staff, higher ups just don't care, head down do the job and don't look up!

Can't say much on culture was fully remote that was the only thing to like

This is not a job. This is a casual gig to do on the side from home based on fluctuating business needs. The experience depends on the client program. Reliance expects very quick calls and expects you to sell but does not pay enough commission. They also repeatedly threaten to cancel your contract if your metrics are too high or too low. Turbotax can be stressful if you are not experienced with income tax preparation.

If you don't have a job and want to work from home, while getting experience working with different companies, services, and computer software, you like to select your own hours, have your mornings off, or work only 4 hours on a particular day, while getting paid, you seriously can't go wrong with this company.
