I have worked for this company for a long time, And I really enjoyed having this experience. Various Loading and Unloading Locations, You can go almost everywhere. The number of miles is very good. Personally, I liked the most the dispatch team, It seemed to me that they had an individual approach to each driver. No one forced to drive at night unless necessary, The route and time were calculated correctly, A working day is usually One load or unload, Very rarely more, Sometimes there can be Switch TRL. Very little downtime.
Here I became acquainted with all types of cargo for dry vans and all states and provinces. 
This is a family company, so many issues are resolved very quickly and efficiently. I especially liked how they service the equipment.
Regarding the culture in the workplace, I think it all depends on the person. Personally, I have only positive memories. The entire staff is very friendly and always wants to help.
The hardest part of the job is changing trucks, All other problems basically arise from this. On the other hand, this has its own advantage - you can choose any schedule, since the schedule is flexible, And be sure that on any date you can be free If necessary, Or, on the contrary, work more, They have problems with this.
But the most pleasant thing for me was the quality of the cargo and customers, Most of the loading and unloading places are warehouses with convenient access, Where you need to spend five to ten minutes to register, Park and rest in the truck, Mostly loading does not take much time.
Therefore, I can definitely recommend this company as a worthy place to work.

I can only speak about the Winnipeg terminal. Upon hiring I was promised incremental raises. That never occurred. 

Addressed this with management, and it was ignored.

Schedule promised never materialized. 

The schedule involved calling in daily at 1400 to see if you were working that evening.  Sometimes you were, and other times you were not.  

Hours were erratic and the pay below industry standards. 

Daily hours could vary between 3-14h you never knew how to play out your day,  the dispatch could change your route without warning and notice,  there are no set hours.   No overtime until you reach 60h plus.  

The units we operated were extremely filthy, drivers,   Safety was not observed at this location,  drivers had to beg for basic things, such as getting tires replaced brakes fixed etc. 

This place, in my opinion, is not a safe work environment. 

I have never received any safety, fuel bonuses.

Management used your vacation as sick days,  benefits were weak.  

Health Benefits were offered but they were plagued with deductibles and offered virtually nothing of value.   Basic is an understatement. 

Mobility within the company is non-existent. 

No safety equipment, the uniform was not provided, no boot allowance zero, nothing. 

You were required to use your personal phone for company business, no compensation was offered. 

Support staff in Winnipeg tries to help, usually, they are overruled by management or the main office. It is a toxic work environment. 

I would not recommend this company to anyone.

It makes fun to work.The only things i don't like is that the mechanics can't fix my truck 100% always not repairing some things because they are not so important for them or unable to get the steering shaking fixed properly so that it is fixed and not come bacl always over time.by little problems like inverter doesn't get enough power because batteries are to weak or so on you always have to wait that they send you with a load to woodstock,nb where the headoffice and shop is from the company.

Otherwise the people here are mostly ok to you.some are a bit stupid but that is all.
the mechanics don't care if you have to sleep they wake you up always if you park the truck in woodstock,nb yard.even when you park truck on the truck stop down the road the wake you up.

you always have to take out your staff and make space for the next driver who comes inside the truck.truck should be clean always from outisde and inside but i don't see this happen always specially not from outside.inside mostly yes clean except driverseat floormat.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The trucks are recent models, standard and automatic.  They have a good maintenance program and AYR has its own workshop

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The trucks are not equipped with refrigerator, electric converter.  Trucks don't have APUs and they put pressure on you to not have the truck idling.  The first three months you work as a substitute driver and when you reset they put another driver to drive and you have to unload all your things from the truck..

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Drivers are considered a part of the truck that can be easily exchanged.  They have no consideration for the human needs of the people.  The communication is very aggressive indicating where you can load fuel and they warn you all the time not to make mistakes and the consequences.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Once you are assigned the trip, they pressure you to leave immediately.  You have to upload all the things you need to travel like a cooler, converter, microwave, etc.  and arrange your clothes and food in the drawers.  You have to install the GPS, supports, etc.  and many times they tell you which route you have to take to avoid the tolls.

If you are willing and capable of staying out a minimum of 3 weeks AND stay out of trouble you will love it. Long runs. Just about all of North America. Top pay for Atlantic Canada. Well maintained equipment. All the miles you can legally log every week. Direct deposit every week. Even though we run hard all you have to do to maintain a legal comic book is let dispatch know before you accept a load of any time restraints. You will never have problems with management provided you do your job and take responsibility for the job you do. In fact you can go days without any contact with management. A definite plus.

 Now; about the slip seating. When I get home for a few days, other people will drive this truck. When I come back to work I always drive my assigned company truck.
If you are new to AYR you will probably be one of those "other" people until you prove yourself and a truck becomes available. Thats the truth and don't pay attention to the whiners. This industry is full of them.

First thing you notice is how professional everyone is & yet how quickly they want to see you succeed in your role. Training is good & the people you get to meet along the way genuinely want to see you be as successful as possible.

This is a much larger company than many expect to find & it is still run with a very personal touch. Expectations are realistic & as long as you are doing your job the best you can, you will be just fine. I have been around this industry long enough & can appreciate what is happening here. They believe in their motto "The best is the least we can do" as this is the standard that should be expected. 

You do not have to go any further than to speak to the line haul drivers to see how much they appreciate where they work. That is hard to find! 

All in  all I feel privileged to be a part of it & for the first time in a long time, I am proud to say where I work.

It's refreshing to work for a company not caught up in too much red tape.  Everyone here works very hard, gives 100%, and are direct with what needs to be done.  
Hard work is recognized and valued.  The owners raise the bar on expectations, those who strive to reach it are the ones who continue to be successful here. 
This company is growing and gaining more momentum in the industry.  
AYR is not just a great carrier but also a great employer.  They look after their employees and treat them like family.  But like all family they will call you on the B.S. and hold you accountable for your actions, good or bad.
The people here are dedicated and are great role models for those coming in next.  The work ethic is incomparable to other companies I have worked for.

Continuous loads no wait time for reload ever

Interacting with certain dispatchers hard to get home slip seating trucks are not equipped with power inverters refrigerators

Owner is very fair approachable decent human being some of the staff are a little coarse but one can understand that considering the nature of work and some of the drivers 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Lots of miles not a lot of interference what a driver would expect and for me enjoy

 Seemed like the best job anyone could ever want. The pay was good and thats where it ends. Forced dispatch,  slip seating is the worst  ever. Constantly expected to stay on the rd for days, no fridges in the trucks, no inverters, you have to bring all that yourself.  Then take it out of the truck after every trip. Constantly being pushed, if you have 1.5 hrs left on your 70hrs, your still not going home, no sir you have 1.5 hrs left you can go do this. The most in humane place I have ever seen.  Constant turnover. But 1 thing I will say, they do pay decent respectable wages. If you can put up with the horrible treatment you will definitely make money with this company.
