Acapulco Pools

A family run company that has many long time employees, retiring with the company.  Many very helpful employees who support each other, but there are always people who prefer to be lone wolfs as with any company.  The company aims for a very family like culture which can be seen with team or family events.  Which will be nice to get back to once COVID goes away.   The company is a construction company with jobs across North America, with operations based in Kitchener, opening up many learning opportunities. 

Upper management's life is all about the company and are very passionate about what they do, this is shown in many forms.  This pandemic has shown how much they do care about the health of each of their employees and their families. 

The hardest part of the job is also the most enjoyable part of the job;  every day is different.  Some days are very busy and can be longer, other days not so hectic and can cross many things off the to-do list.  Independent/self-starter, flexible and multi-tasking are three very important skills to work here. 

With a JHSC, Social Committee,  Health & Wellness Program and Human Resources, there are many services available to all employees. 

In the beginning, this company seemed great. But the longer you stay, the more you'll come to realize the poor culture and political games management plays. I always had my work done in a timely and efficient manner with SO much spare time. When asking for more work to do, they question why and never actually give you more work. Obviously, the really great reviews are all current employees and shouldn't be taken seriously. As stated in previous reviews, there is high turnover in every single position. Management likes to micromanage everything you do and are constantly looking over your shoulder. If you go to them with an issue, it's held over you. Too many emotions in the office and an extreme lack of professionalism, as the tone is set by management. Majority of the managers don't deserve to be in the positions they are in. Any task that no one else wants to do is offloaded to Admin/Accounting. There are better places out there where your education and experience actually means something. Don't let this place chip way at your soul.

I never knew anything about the Pool business or Construction in general before making a career change and joining Acapulco Pools.  Acapulco made the transition easy and it's been satisfying learning about how to build a Pool from the ground up.  From planning and strategizing on how to attack a build, to cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremonies, Acapulco provides a diverse experience into all areas of creating a Prominent Aquatic Centre or Back Yard Oasis.
Acapulco is a fast paced environment with new challenges daily, all while you contribute to successful projects and satisfied customers.

I was so excited to begin my employment with Acapulco! Everyone seems  great in the beginning but you quickly learn that is very much a "clique" environment... I noticed my manager among others talking negatively about other employees quite frequently. When I had questions for my manager, I was constantly told "I don't have time". Not a positive environment at all. If someone is getting fired then the whole office knows before the individual. I witnessed 3 people get fired in my time there. Very rough crowd as well. Don't bother asking for feedback as they only believe in giving negative criticism. If you're looking for a positive, supportive and open company, apply elsewhere. Forget about any training with this place either, you're thrown right in and when you have questions managers get impatient and treat you like you're an inconvenience. 

One of the most negative work environments I have even been at. Zero training on the job you were hired for because the last employee either quit or was fired abruptly with no one else knowing what they did or management. You always feel like you need to protect your job or you'll get fired. Lots of favoritism and basis. Take the positive reviews on here with a grain of salt as they are most likely management trying to keep there rating from dropping. Did not see one employee hear who wasn't low key depressed. Stay away if you want a happy life. 

Lots of politics and drama, no training on the job your hired for and job titles get thrown out the window as you will be doing things that have nothing to do with your job title as management does quite understand what there doing. There is a reason why there are multiple "Acapulco Pools" on here and why the ratings are bad on all of them. If you think you'll be an exception to this don't be surprised when you come back here after 3 months and realize youve made a huge mistake. You can do better. 

Enjoyable work atmosphere with friendly staff. Fast paced a great deal of the time. Construction knowledge is great to have, you can learn the aquatics side of things with help from management and your team if you don't have prior aquatics knowledge. Plenty of variety in daily tasks so your workload doesn't get stale. Flexible work week that helps with a great work-life balance. Company hosts many special events. Yearly staff meeting and training. Great Health and Safety practices. Benefits. 

It's a high pace work environment with a lot going on at once and can be a bit much at times. There's always something new going on and plenty to keep busy with. If you ever find yourself in a bit too deep however, you can depend on any one of the many great employees to help you out. 

Pretty much everyone who works at Acapulco is easy to get along with and great people. They're always willing to help where they can and it really is a group effort to help everyone on your team.

I started working at Acapulco in May of 2018 and have changed roles many times - so much opportunity to grow within the company!! The environment is fast-paced and can sometimes be stressful, but management is understanding and works with you to complete tasks on time. I love how flexible working here is. The accounting department work together well and communicate effectively to get the job done. Overall, Acapulco is a wonderful job with many opportunities to learn and grow.

Company provides their own transportation via carpooling using company assigned vehicles to minimize employee's expenses. Management is not very consistent and your sense of professionalism is disregarded. Machine operators are operating unethically by being forced to only sign up as a laborer and not under the operator union so the CEO can save on their expenses. On the plus side, Union benefits are excellent for yourself and dependents.
