Worked here for a while was Terminated without cause, no complaints/warnings or remediation plans just termination without explanation or cause

They say its the people you work with that make the job good, sadly thats the only good thing about this job, long hours combined with almost required OT burns you out very fast

Some managers are excellent yet others  could really use a reality check

way too many middle management people as to where i had no idea who was most senior or who to report to for issue if my manager was not present or couldn't fix the issue

pay is ok but just ok

Career advancement is nonexistent as i had seen many people including myself promised that they would be cross trained or moved to other Department upon request only to be in the same department or level of training come 3 months time and continuously being promised that training or transfers would happen "Eventually"  which sadly led to us losing many of our best workers because the company couldn't maintain the level of production of 4 people when they are are only 2 in the department and then resulted in them firing or terminating people because we couldn't put out the same level of work with half the people

month end rush is stupid and is always forced OT 

management can replace you whenever they want and just send you to other sections which change your hours or just outright terminate you

as long as you get a good department then you will be fine if you get one of the bad departments then good luck

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working with Great People, weekends off and employees are home by 5 PM. Great benefits/ profits sharing when Company is prospering.Owner is a Great guy met him briefly just a couple times but very approachable. Supervisors are all great right up to Management. It’s like Most Businesses you have good days and not so good days depends on how you look at Life.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Me myself I didn’t have the stress in my job. I guess the only stress I may have seen is if numbers are down for that shift due to maybe shortage of Material or if someone makes a habit of calling in Sick a lot then it puts more pressure and Stress on other Team Members,but the nice thing also is the Company will not tolerate people who Gossip or try to create a bad working environment.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The Work environment is Fast paced/Busy the Owner is a pretty Smart Guy and likes to come up with New Stuff so Employment is Preety bang on for reliability.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Typical day was Busy, had many things to do to make hours go by quickly.

The building itself is nice, mostly good people to work with and if you are a good worker, you will have job security. 
It can be extremely frustrating for a variety of reasons:
-It is a shared building, so a lot of departments get in each other’s way as far as sharing forklifts, tools, resources, etc. 
-The shop yard is a disaster, you can get stuck out there for hours trying to find what you need. 
-The production floor is extremely dusty with poor ventilation. 
-Wages are considerably low for skilled/ticketed tradespeople and negotiating raises is next to impossible, even if you are consistent with your production, deadlines and punctuality.  Lots of good employees are leaving over money, which is too bad. 
-Lack of accountability from the top all the way down to the people on the floor, which leads to more frustration, gossip and distractions. 
If you’re just looking for a job in town and can tune out the rest of the noise, it can be a fine place to work. There are more good days than bad.  
If you’re looking for more than that, keep on looking!

As long as you're ok with being targeted by the HR rep who is constantly looking to get people in trouble due to their hardships, and supervisors who are unprofessional and constantly talk ill about their workers including their personal and private issues with the whole team, then maybe, just maybe, this is the place for you. All that matters to this company is money. There is a huge turnaround of GOOD employees to terrible ones only because management does not stand up to the HR when the employees need it. By far the WORST place I have ever worked for. I, along with many others that have left, are happy to not work for this selfish company anymore. Avoid this place if you can. A lot needs to change in that HR office to even consider it being a "good place" to work. I hope Advantec will actually hear this and think of other options, as nothing seems to ever change. If you lose all your good employees, this company will not make it. 

The owner of this business is not involved, and its leaders have no day to day involvement whatsoever, leaving the workload to be managed by under-qualified, under-supported, under-budgeted, and under-paid individuals without any sort of clue where the company is headed.  Rumors and drama run rampant without any communication from the right sources, so if you just want to collect a paycheque and have no goals or strategies for success, this is the place for you.  They make marine enclosures and accessories such as cranes, but leadership spends most of their time on passion projects that have nothing to do with marine manufacturing and it takes focus away from supporting them.  Shop jobs are just jobs, not careers, and there is no advancement or employee development, no reviews or raises at all.  Not even in the office. Extremely dusty and dirty workshop. 

You should join this company only if you don't have any other options. The management is least bothered about the employee learning, training, process and procedure in the organization. I wonder how this organization obtained ISO certification because it doesn't fulfill most of the criteria certification. Since there is no proper process or procedure things get lost when a person leaves the organization. Most of the employee who has been with the company since a long time, have a close group and very difficult to mix with them. That group works like spy to management for all the feedback. HR is no more than a clerk.

It's basically a revolving door. The management is poor and there are no raises no matter how long you work there. The warehouse manager is about the worst I've ever seen. Wouldn't hesitate to throw you under the bus for his mistakes or lack of common sense. Seen him do it many times and treats his employees horribly. The best warehouse guy they ever had was treated horribly for doing his job well.  Co-workers are great and some of the department managers are ok as well. The company presents a culture of support and equality but this is false. Worked there for over three years, basically a waste of 3 years. Most people don't last more than 15 months. If you're looking for a disposable job or are just out of school it's a good place to get underpaid experience.

I have worked for the company for many years, and under several General Managers and CEOs.  The brands produced in the Langley, B.C. facility are well known in the marine marketplace, and there are a number of long tenured, knowledgeable employees and administrative staff.  

The CEO believes that people are dispensable and every year several staff are terminated when seasonal trends and profitability drop.  Long term employment of staff at the company does not seem to be desired at the leadership level.  This leaves staff morale low and the company culture weak.

Pros:

- Collaborative Environment 
- Company funded my APICS certification 
- Family focused - Company BBQ’s, Awards and recognition, Christmas Parties 
-Great product that employees can take pride in

Cons:
- Bonus promised as overall compensation, but company never awarded bonus to employees.
- Fast paced, sometimes stressful, large workload

Overall:
I would highly recommend a career with Advantec. In the decade I worked for Advantec I was invested in and supported. It’s a great place to develop your skill set and advance in your career.

not recommended unless you went to high school with the management.  total "boys club"

knowing you will never advance u less you are buddies with management

well....I'm not a part of the culture.  but, if you don't conform....you won't last

a lot of regret....then watching all the boys club do nothing but take credit for everyones hard work
