The job requires employees to be seated at a assigned desk which provides a computer and a headset. The computer is used to run programs provided by Rogers to take inbound and outbound calls to customers. This allows employees to communicate and help our customers make payment arrangements, one time payments, change account information, or address any concerns that a customer may have. I have learned different ways to deal with different types of customers who may either be upset or frustrated and have learned to empathize with them. Also I have the need to try and resolve their issue as quickly and efficiently as I can. The most difficult part of the job was dealing with a customer who was previously given a settlement offer. It allows for a customer to make a payment which is less than their actual bill and the company will take care of the remaining balance, however it needs to be paid within a time period. The customer had called wanting to pay the remaining balance for their settlement however they had called weeks after their settlement offer was eligible. Due to this I was unable to settle their account in which case the call had to be escalated to a supervisor since the customer became upset. The work is still however enjoyable as it is more relaxed and you are never standing.

A typical work day consist off meeting customer needs and provide friendly and knowledgeably customer service to client with the aim to meet collection targets.
 Each day i learn to be more patient, courteous, knowledgeably about company product and customers needs and also how to be a better team player.
The management staff is very easily to get along with and very helpful.
My fellow co-works are friendly and helpful.
The hardest part of this job is learning to how to maintain a calm & and friendly personal when a customer is trowing Obscenities, discriminatory language, or other language not suitable for a public forum. But some how each day i learn to maintain a professional persona.
The most enjoyable part of the job is when i know that i have provided the best customer service experiences necessary to ensure that the customer is happy and satisfied with my assistance.

Office is old and in need of renovation, the office where I work is a very closed up space, not much sunlight or fresh air come in and I personally really don't like this, the desks are very used and the computers with which we work are old and often have technical issues, the management team is very amiable, coworkers are nice and friendly, there's good team work overall and the job itself isn't bad it's just the working hours that are tough. My current shift in the week is 3pm to midnight and with this shift, not much time is left for personal life. The starting salary is $15/h and there's room for growing. It's a fast paced environment and the dress code is casual but no sweatpants/leggings.
Because of the pandemic, the work is remote right now and it's unknown when we will be returning to office. A two week paid training is provided and the job includes inbound and outbound calls.

Affinity Global has it's ups and downs, and throughout the 6 years I spent there, it was mostly ups, however, in recent years, the company has taken a turn for the worst.

Salary is marginal at best, and commission is most cases is non-existent or relatively negligible. They expect all employees to work over-time without pay in order to hit quotas (which are unreachable regularly without OT) and make commission.

It is a place that will pay people with experience far more than employees with seniority, and even that is barely enough to pay for personal expenses and bills.

Do not expect to move out of your basement apartment or parent's house while working here.

(I was a supervisor at this agency and could barely afford living expenses, for some perspective)

I worked at Affglo for 2 years, the work environment is very competitive and stressful. Somewhat unreasonable expectations with minimal benefits. Pay is based on a salary but there is also the opportunity to take home a commission cheque, the targets that you need to hit along with strict rules and regulations made it very difficult to make any money. targets and rules were changed regularly to prevent someone from taking home a  commission that was worth the effort. Unfortunately high turnover, I saw a lot of good people come and go while I was working there, reasons varied from clients pulling business to supposed performance issues. overall a good place to work if you absolutely need a job.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great hours, good atmosphere. Location is easy to find by bus or vehicle.  Opportunity to move up the ladder in a timely fashion.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Timelines are sometimes tight. Depending on your role or position you must hit all your targets with little wiggle room. You may at anytime switched to another campaign with little to no warning. Training needs improvement.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
30 minutes to get situated & organize your day. If a co-worker is absent you may need to step in & help with some of their tasks. Once you get into the flow of your day it is usually smooth sailing. But a crisis can happen at any time. Then it's all hands on deck.

If calling people on the phone all day is not for you, you probably don't want to work in a call centre.  If asking people to pay delinquent bills isn't for you, you should probably stay clear of collections.

if however you don't mind sitting at a desk, calling people and asking them to repay money to creditors, read on...  I started at just north of minimum wage and while my salary hasn't increased too much, my commission has.  I am paid in several different ways, based on hitting specific targets for my portfolio.  I make twice as much as a I did a year ago and I enjoy it to this day.

I loved working in the office environment, with my own desk and personal space. My co-workers were amazing and I really enjoyed getting assistance and assisting others when it was necessary. The hardest part of the job was dealing with clients that would lie and constantly give you the run-around however I quickly got used to it and became a pro and breaking them down. I loved that on holidays and co-workers birthdays the office would come together and do something special for the individuals. We had game days and dress-up days which made work more interesting and fun. I loved working at Affinity Global!

It's a collection agency - they're all the same. Garbage environment, management only cares about quotas - no real incentives for employees. You only "move up" the ladder when someone leaves and even then you're thrust into the position with no real support and then when you ask about a raise for all the extra work you've put in you're denied and eventually end up unknowingly training the person who they've secretly hired to replace you only so they don't have to give you what you're worth. Stay away if you want your mental health to stay positive.
