A typical day at work? 
Well for me this included being harassed by other co workers and not being able to share my side of the story! You come in to find you’re either short or the night before was short and you’re expected to take the fall for it, not the employees who can walk out and not show up without any punishment. You’ll find everyone is talking about you, especially when things go wrong, and your management will not stick up for you because they’re also part of the gossip. 
Oh and expect to have your shifts cancelled with no explanation at all until you specifically request a meeting about it and expect to have none of your concerns addressed. 

What I learned?? 
Trust nobody LOL, not even your management of any sort. Go straight to union and do not meet or talk to anybody without them present.  I also learned this is by far one of the cheapest places, won’t provide funds for anything but will gladly take anyone’s money. Your loved ones are better off to stay at home with a teenage babysitter. The entire building is a health hazard.  

Management?? 
Shouldn’t even be an option on here because they are not present in this facility. You’re better off to take your concerns to the residents as they’ll listen more than your direct manager:) 

Hardest part of the job? 
Showing up and wanting to make an effort when your coworkers have no desire to work with you, only against you! Oh and don’t forget you’ll be short almost everyday because I guess it’s not a managers job to do anything for your department. It’s okay for residents to walk around in their pjs from two nights ago at dinner time because their clothes are sitting a laundry bin. 

Most enjoyable part of the job? 
Seeing justice be served but it never happens, so don’t expect much.  I would say the pay but even that isn’t that great. 

Worked here for a few years, only my colleagues makes this place a joy to work in. For a place where the main mission is to care for people, there is very little care happening for the staff helping seniors.

Work politics sours the work environment and very little can be said about the management team, especially the middle management. 

Supervisors have huge egos that they become blinded to be humane to their staff in the most dire cases.

Got a feedback to share for continuous improvement? Better pipe down or you will be given less hours.

Want to join in the ranks of middle and upper management? Your credentials won't help you, your ability to play politics will.

Got a family emergency? Good luck getting that approved, better yet, good luck trying to convince 3-4 people for approvals, as all of them need to approve it, and if one doesn't approve it, well you're SOL.

Not all is bad, like I mentioned in the beginning there are still good people. Just like any workplace, there's good and bad. However, with this company all the bad ones are the ones who run the show.

However, my days here are definitely counted as you can tell from my opinion piece. I've seen this place turn from good to rotten ever since new management came in.

The last 2 years I have seen the highest turnovers in staff almost monthly. I will be among them soon.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing. They do not care about their employees, only profit. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Everything needs to be repaired, no funding or supplies necessary to do your job well, high staff turnover resulting in constant unsafe staffing

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They are “appreciative” of you until you stop picking up extra work constantly and if you raise concerns you are a “not a team player”

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Punch in, notice you’re very short staffed, be expected to make it work anyway regardless if it is unsafe. Get to your area to find out you are missing necessary items like nursing supplies, cloths for patients, items are broken and cannot be used which has added more stress to your day, a staff leaves mid shift because they feel unwell, now you’re doing 2 jobs at once so they still get care and fed, clock out late only to be pulled in and asked why you stayed for unapproved overtime, as well as they will not be paying you for all of your missed breaks.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part was how respectful the staff and employers were. Yes being a Union it's part of job description but people really Care, and that's what counts. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Policy: It's very depressing to work there seeing so much good food go to waste, plus freezing all the fresh food which I think is very backwards. You can't give residents gifts, vise versa, it would bring do much Joy but it's not allowed. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Well if I could put one word down it's awesome working there, the staff were kind, friendly, respectful, and the residents were too. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Standard procedure. Right to routine, it's repetitive, busy, lots to remember which keeps you on your toes.

I applied here as pioneer staff of the building since this is new facility . Application , interview and hiring is very easy process as they base on your experience I was hired and was able to work smoothly for six months until there are recommendations for staff to move to other departments which I did and this is where I start being treated as useless to the company until management transfer me to other facility which is against my will and my personal cridentials  was totally insulted as this is my first time to be treated this way being an employee throughout my life for my 34 yrS of working with different places and country and I find the reason that I’m a treat to their personal ambitions  to the company it’s a political way of management my choice is take
It or leave it I choose  to leave . 

I completed my practicum at this AgeCare location as part of my Bow Valley College program. My experience was a mix of positive and challenging moments.

The residents were lovely, and some staff members were genuinely welcoming and supportive. The environment felt organized, and I enjoyed assisting with recreation-based activities.

However, at times I didn’t feel fully included as part of the team, which affected the sense of belonging. I also expected more hands-on OTA learning opportunities, but most of my tasks aligned more with a Recreation Assistant role.

Overall, it was a decent practicum experience, especially for learning about senior care settings, but there is room for improvement in communication, student support, and placements that balance OTA and RTA duties more equally.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It was a best job exprienced through lenght of my staying and working ever

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When  covid times wearing of these hot ppe isulation gown while doing cleaning for the safety precaution

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very good emvironment and a multi culture workers and people inside but wonderful people

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Getting up very early morning started to refresh myself prepared for work not all the times excited sometimes tiring but when everytimes start my day with a good smiles and greeting a good morning to people seems happy and nice to start with a good mood.

Corporate is more concerned with growing then taking care of the staff they have. I use to really enjoy working at my site. Not anymore since Agecare start acquiring more sites, they have decided that growing is more important then having any compassion for the employees that work for them. I can’t even say that the site mangers care about their staff anymore, cause even they have become more unapproachable. Everything at Agecare is about growth, and not about their guiding principles and values which are respect, trust, teamwork, and quality. They really don’t respect or trust their staff. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Many different shifts were available. Most staff were friendly. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Shifts were very busy & fast paced making it a stressful place to work as a pt or casual employee.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Staff were of mixed cultures, most were long term staff, who, though did not seem to enjoy the work load or their job there , they did it because of job security because it was steady & they had been there many years.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Fast paced & stressful. I did not enjoy working there. Most staff were friendly, but there were also many who were not,  set in their ways , condescending & unhelpful.

-Manager needs leadership and management skills
- Loves to talk about values and policies, but in reality its all hypocrisy
- A person who is not anymore an employee should not be made topic in a departmental meeting. 
- Management needs to monitor the Rec Dept to ensure that staff are lead in a decent way, not in fear
- Is there a way to train first time managers from  being insecure and bitter? 
- Management only listens to their own.
