Working at Air Liquide Canada was a disaster from start to finish. The relocation process was so badly organized that upon departure the flight hadn't been booked and the movers broke and "misplaced" a lot of our stuff. The person who organized the relocation was later fired. 
Due to the structure of the company there are "centres of excellence", which deal with certain technologies exclusively and also get first pick on projects, no matter where they are located. The other centres only get assignments if the first is drowning in work, which means tons of downtime, made up assignments to keep employees busy, or demeaning assignments one does not need an engineer for. Even having personal connections in other centres don't matter once you're off their radar and you're being treated like they never knew you. 
The only way to get real work is to be really lucky, relocate (what's the point of starting there in the first place?) or move to another centre's location for the project duration. When one agrees to the latter, they are put in accommodations lacking the most basic things, while being expected to live on a small per-diem and prepare their own meals. Complaints are ignored or only partially addressed. 
Expenses have to be paid out of pocket and there is no way to have them reimbursed as direct deposit, while payroll works like that without issues. Instead, a cheque is issued and the employee has no way to deposit it in the country he currently is in, so more out-of-pocketing is needed. Empty promises are made that the system will be improved soon. Adding to that, you have to deal with people who don't know the expense regulations and you end up fighting for every cent. The person in this position was fired. 
Payroll is unable to issue correct payments and overpaid me. When they noticed their mistake I had to reimburse them asap, but when it came to them reimbursing the moving expenses, it took a whooping three months! The person in this position was fired.
Even when small projects happen, they are managed from another centre. Every centre lives in its own bubble and has no regard or respect for the others, they badmouth one another while openly bragging about their great collaboration efforts. 

Reminding people in other centres of your existence results only in empty promises that your skills will be put to good use. Project hours have to be painfully requested and approved, which often fails and causes trouble that falls back onto the person doing the actual project work, who is eventually at risk of getting fired because it looks like they had nothing to do all this time. 
Direct managers are not located in Calgary either and therefore have little interest in anything not on their office floor. They prefer giving work to people in the same building rather than picking up the phone and emailing instructions and work documents to people in the Calgary location.
IT is lousy and only recently a local guy was hired. Before that the Calgary centre relied on service from Houston and was treated as a low priority. I waited five weeks for all programs and network access when I started working there. Not even Outlook had been configured on my computer and due the lack of access rights nobody who is not IT can install programs themselves, no matter their background. 
Important software like the engineering simulation suite are not installed locally, but on a remote server that frequently fails and remains offline for days. When that happens, IT is usually not available or does not resolve issues fast enough. Requests to install the software locally to solve those issues have been frequently denied with the excuse that it would create too much overhead for the IT department. Nobody seems to mind that the engineering department is unable to work at all. 
People are getting hired and fired here on a regular basis, the company has gone through a number of centre managers already. 
On the good side: there are lots of nice people working there, the pay was good, so were the benefits. The location features access to the gym of the sun life building, which is small, but affordable for $35 a month.

Air Liquide was once an inclusive, rewarding and fun place to work but that has changed. 
Customer service and safety culture are talking points meant to impress existing/potential customers but more likely the government so Air Liquide can get corporate welfare. Potential/current customers need to be aware that incompetence will result in delivery of product consistently being delayed and timelines not met. The same managers in charge of and overseeing production that fails to meet contracts with our customers have jobs for life and only the "workers" are often changed due to poor management, mismanagement and internal politics make working at Air Liquide untenable. Customers are consistently dissatisfied and left with no recourse and when they've had enough and want to get service elsewhere Air Liquide's lawyers get involved and threaten customers with breach of contract. 

No accountability from management with internal politics make this one of, if not the most toxic work environment to work in and one of the worst customer experiences one could have. Daily customer complaints consist of;
-Billing issues
-no delivery
-no communication regarding issues that impact them
-poor customer service
-cannot get their questions answered
-no product when they need it
-broken promises

If there was oversight of management's incompetence customers and employee relations would improve greatly but unfortunately Air Liquide is only capable of doing 1 thing at a time and does that poorly.

When I got interviewed I was promised a supportive and stable work environment. 1 week before my probation would end I walk in for work and receive a one-sentence termination letter by the manager. The days before everything was fine, suddenly I walk in for work and I'm out effective immediately. Even more surprising was the fact that lab staff and manager himself mentioned a couple times I was doing well.

The person responsible for my training was rude, condescending, would often lash out at me and lab staff. Gave me snarky comments such as operators before me not being good enough and being terminated so I should better watch out, and blaming me for mistakes I didn't make. Said many times he was friends with lead hand and manager to intimidate me. Would constantly bad-mouth other people who were not part of the little clique. After the training was officially over, he became hostile and completely shut me out.

Like myself, some operators outside the clique were working hard, skipping breaks, working extra hours. But I would be always under pressure by these guys during my probation saying I wasn't doing enough, when I had production tickets and QC results to show for it. Meanwhile the same clique would be constantly taking breaks, and asking for overtime in the weekends for no reason.

Felt completely disrespected, my work and commitment disregarded, myself discarded like nothing. I left my previous job to come work for ALC and this is the kind of treatment I received in the Calgary plant. Now I'm out of both jobs.

Air Liquide claims to be an international company and that is true as far as them having offices in locations around the world. However, these offices don't work well together. In fact I have witness how employees badmouth other centres while officially praising their great collaboration, which in fact is not working at all. They prefer if employees relocate temporarily instead. 
Relocating to Calgary with Air Liquide was a nightmare, it was so badly organized. Being sent on assignments is not pleasant, as the company does not make any efforts of making it easier for the employee. For example, expenses are reimbursed via cheque and in foreign countries there is no possibility of cashing them, so you pay out of pocket for everything until you return. Housing provided lacks the most basic things and broken items are not being fixed. It seems all very low-budget. 
Frequent hire and fire is common in this location and intellectual property is squandered. 
Employee management is poor due to the size of the office and everyone being managed from another location. Often jobs are given to employees in other centres instead because the manager finds it too much effort to manage his remote people. 
On the other hand, benefits and salary are good and there are many nice people working there.

The Cambridge facility is a terrible place to work.  They threaten on the daily that if you don't get your numbers you will have to answer to upper management.  Training is non existent.  They don't rotate you on jobs.  I was stuck on the same job for most of the week.  They put me on propane.  Was sore for 5 weeks getting used to lifting 70lb tanks.  They have no HR on site.  You have to use the computer and youll be lucky to get an answer.  Their benefits aren't good unless your paying big bucks.  The initial drug testing isn't on going.  I had a guy giving me a hard time everytime I got stuck working with him until he sobered up in the afternoon.  They don't want to provide you with proper ppe.  Especially when doing propane outside I froze the first day.  Second day I requested a jacket and they gave me an old rag that the whole company has worn.  You would think they would have learned from covid.  You can't wear your own jacket, it has to be their fire retardant clothing.  They don't even want you going to the bathroom on company time.   Its a dirty, dusty environment.  If you have allergies, avoid this place.  If you stand up for yourself in the slightest way you will be fired.
 So I woke up tired sick and sore last Tuesday.  I took time off and was let go today.

AIR Liquide, is the WORST company I have ever worked for.
They certainly DO NOT practice what that preach, such as core values and integrity!!! They have been accredited as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies but they are far from that. They can make themselves look like that on paper to get awarded the title but in reality they are probably one of Canada’s Worst Managed Companies!!! When hired they welcome you and you feel as a big part of Their FAMILY, you leave after the 1st day feeling as tho you just landed the perfect job. You soon find out that this is not the case. They DO NOT value their employee’s or their employees points of view. If you have an issue or problem they tell you what you want to hear but the problem is never solved which is very frustrating. They constantly push more and more work at you but your pay Never Never increases. They preach company growth but there isn’t any of that either. As time goes on you will soon feel as tho you are a Monkey in a Gong Show. I could go on and on but I’ll stop here with one final bit of advice....Terrible Company....STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

Good place for a long a fruitful career. Great learning experience on many levels. Promotes development of employees and personal growth. Encourages and pays for relevant training and schooling. Good ramp up in continuous improvement culture in the past years. In my business unit, employees are solicited for input on projects and hands on collaboration. 
This is a public multinational company so do not expect a "mom and pop" approach to doing business. But there is definitely a "human" and "community" vibe to the entity I work for.
BTW, days just fly by! 

I have enjoyed working at my previous companies because of the different challenges everyday and the experience gained has placed me where i am today. Management has been very welcoming and willing to teach me new things. Because of my bubbly personality, i get along with almost everyone i spend time with and thats advantageous for me because being the person i am has put me in a position of having people confide in me and being trustworthy. The most enjoyable part of the job was making a customer happy and having them thank you for doing what you get payed to do, i didnt deserve a thank you especially since i am supposed to keep my customers happy (its what i do) but receiving those words from customers has made me look at my job from another angle. The most hardest part of my job is not knowing how far is the company willing to take me especially with the hard work invested.

I have worked for Air Liquide for quite a number of years and can honestly say its the best company I have ever worked for.

The people are fantastic (I have met a lot of people I now consider friends, not just colleagues)

My manager is extremely supportive, kind and genuinely cares about me as an individual.

I have the most amazing work-life balance, even though my role is fairly demanding and pressurised.

All of the Senior team are approachable, helpful, caring and work hard, nothing is too much trouble. 

If you are looking for a Career and not just a job, then I would highly recommend Air Liquide

The philosophy seems to be managment oriented ,  they do their best to screw over the driver team . which they have layed off (Permanently) to save money and hired a cartage company to take over the product delivery work.
