A typical day at work generally involves the following:

-writing scopes of work that pertain to different areas of a renovation/build (HVAC, framing, electrical, plumbing, finish carpentry, etc)
-scheduling/setting up trades to come on site and work
-site visits in order to control the quality of the job and ensure it meets the Alair standard
-liaison between subcontractors, homeowners, and partners to ensure proper communication is taking place and that everyone is on the same page

If you're looking for an easy job that doesn't require much effort, than working as a project manager for Alair is not for you. The job demands a fair amount of planning/foresight, effective communication skills, knowledge of the construction industry and the building code, and arbitration amongst trade groups. This can, in my opinion, be one of the more difficult parts of the job. That being said, the longer you are with the company, the easier it becomes. Over time, you'll develop strong working relationships with your sub trades and they will feel like they're all part of the same team. 

The benefit of working with Alair is that you have a great support crew behind you. Whether it's other project managers within the company, partners, or people from head office, you will always have a variety of team members in your corner who are willing and happy to help. It's a great team atmosphere and it feels good to be a part of that team.

Daily reviews of multiple residential project schedules, budgets, job reports, billing and invoicing.  Followed with day-to day calls, texts and emails to sub-contractors to ensure productivity and aggressive timelines stay within the expectations of the franchise partnership.  Additionally, local municipal challenges and explanations about the differences from planning to construction budgets.  Followed up with site visits and assisting trades where needed to maintain the construction schedule.   
Internal Project Management software was helpful to understand the corporate direction, which at times conflicted with local franchise methods and ideals.  Remote work only - no office, however cellphone and computer are supplied.  Personal vehicle allowance falls short of what is required of the job.  Additional brand marketing for your personal vehicle is provided and compensated for, along with clothing to start with.  Keeping organized is essential, "multiple hats" is expected at all times.  Upon occasion, the atmosphere within the local franchise represented a lack of integrity and seriousness.  Ultimate satisfaction is realized upon completion of projects and client interaction. 

Great Team and business model at Alair Grey Bruce! Their management style promotes company growth, and personal growth. The partners enable us as project managers to do our jobs effectively without micromanaging but providing the support of an open team atmosphere and a system that is next to none. As the team grows, so does the responsibility of each and you are lifted up with the growth of the company. Hours can be long at times to service clients needs and schedules however, with proper time management this can be prevented. Weekly reviews on each project with partners help with scheduling, productivity, accountability, and time management as well as enables a positive outcome for the business and clients on each project if the system is followed. As a project manager I am empowered to learn new things each day whether from trades on site or from the Alair team, becoming more proficient at my current role yet also enabling me with the tools and knowledge in management, customer service and business required in the next roles down the road. The Alair Company as a whole has a structure that promotes growth and accountability on each level that enables each in a positive way to reach their full potential.This is a team with great values, an honest and open approach to business and committed to growth.

My typical day at work consists of lining up trades and talking with clients and designer/architects and engineers. Perform quality control on all work being done by trades and lending a hand if needed. 
Our upper management is always available to lend a helping hand with an obstacles that we may need assistance with and don't make you feel bad for asking for help.

- Hardest part of my job is getting trades to site when they are scheduled and then to make sure I manage my clients expectations properly so as to not cause mistrust and regret. 

The most enjoyable part of my job is once the house is done and the family is moved in, to see how happy they are to be in there new home.

I have been a Project Manager for the Alair Homes team for almost a year.  I have never worked for a better management team in my career.  The support you feel is unmatched.  You lead jobs on your own, but always feel you have the support of an army there when needed.

The autonomy.  There is a great opportunity for this to be a great company to work for but they are not there yet.

It's not very good.  As they are franchises they seem to take care of just themselves

Quiet.  If you dont make things happen for yourself there is not alot going on.

Not being able to follow processes and doing tasks out of order.

Unorganized some days. Stressful.

Coordinate with trades and try to get them to follow your schedule. Sometimes it works but mostly it doesn’t.

Very disappointed with this company.
I didn’t really feel welcomed, and there was a lack and appreciation, especially in from higher level management. I experienced lots of dissatisfaction from clients who were frustrated at the level of consideration flr their needs.
