What is the best part of working at the company?
The benefits and the environment, we have a great team that helps each other and treat each other with respect and of course the pay. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
That you attempted to make no mistakes that would affect the patients but at the end we are all humans and we do make mistakes but we aim to avoid as much mistakes as possible so the patients have a fast service but also they feel taken care of in every interaction 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's very positive, we don't have to all like each other but we are cordially and make the job flow.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I start my day by logging into my computer, check my duties for the day, check times for my breaks and then start serving patients. If there is difficulty with a collection or doubts in how to handle a sample or situation we can always reach out to our coworkers, team leader or supervisor. We try to take our breaks on time so we do not disrupt the patient flow and delay other coworker breaks, we could do some data entry at the front to expedite the work flow, greet patients at the front desk or take payment for patient pay procedures. We do ECG's, we prep and pack samples for them to be taken to the testing facilities, we perform maintenance checks and closing duties and then we go home.

Day at work:
There is little support when trying to secure shifts. It can be difficult to get the shifts I need, and there’s not much help from management to assist with this.

Learned:
I haven’t learned much due to the lack of guidance and support in my role.

Management:
Management isn’t very interactive with staff, especially the weekend workers. Interaction usually only happens when there’s a question or an emergency, making it feel like there’s minimal support.

Workplace:
There are specific individuals who make me feel unwelcome. It seems like there’s a lack of care or effort in creating a supportive work environment.

Hardest part of the job:
The hardest part of the job is securing shifts. It often feels like the shifts are given to certain individuals, leaving others, like myself, struggling to pick up shifts.

Most enjoyable part:
The most enjoyable part of the job is driving. However, at different locations, staff often don’t care about me as a driver. They don’t offer assistance or guidance on what to pick up or where to go, which can be frustrating.

You can expect steady work in health care, but APL will wear you down over time until you become cranky and jaded.  Management knows the workers' Union is weak and unsupporting so they take advantage of that fact.  They overwork their employees and are unaccommodating to their needs.  The employees retaliate by calling in sick and going on leaves of absence.  This perpetuates the cycle of being overworked and understaffed.  Management is clueless how to fix it when in reality it's quite simple -- better scheduling to promote a work/life balance.

Management is totally awful and leave in the dark all the time. They have no leadership, guidance or direction. Communication from management to the drivers is non existent. I was with them for around 5 years and I can say with no hesitation it is the worst place I have ever worked. 
Targeting and blame all the time and it is very clicky from older people to the younger people. The union OMG is terrible. The drivers  have not had a raise in 14 years ever though cost of living goes up. The union does not have the experience to get a new wage for the drivers.
Blame the drivers because of poor management skills and they have the wrong people in place. You have a director from failed DYNALIFE in charge making the same bad choices Being on the own was the only good part of the job. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO MY WORST EMEMY.

The work environment can be very stressful. Patients can be rude and they are constantly watching how fast you work by calculation of productivity. Which I believe to be inaccurately assessed. However it is not all bad. Depending on if you hold a position or are casual there are perks like vacation and medical benefits etc..  As of right now it pays pretty well. However if it goes private they will be slashing the income which would make it very hard to pay bills. Overall it;s not the worst company to work for but I wouldn't say it's the best either. They don't treat casuals very well. No perks except for you controlling your days off. Staff are pretty nice and I would say it feels really good to help others :)

A typical day at work was with many blood test, many patients all the time, because in the moment I was working in APL there are not many labs in town, for that the concentration in that place was very important, I learned to work in team, great team and the management was excellent, workplace culture normal. The hardest part of the job was with kid because need more time and usually need help from another member of team. The most enjoyable part of the job was with the surgical patients in biopsies, this area was the part with more relationship with experience and knowledge.

Working at APL was engaging and exciting work . The culture and the team were great, and my understanding is that they still are.   APL engages in innovative work and is a fast past and exciting environment to work in.  There are many types of roles that all come together to deliver the services as a team.  The doctors are hard working and committed and often involved in leading edge innovation or diagnosing very difficult cases.

You get penalized for coming to work, by struggling to find parking and paying for that said parking. $6-$9 a day.
Management doesn't tell you if your doing good or bad. Frustration and the feeling of being stuck lives here. 

They don't treat you like you matter. Company is completely disorganized, managers are disorganized, high stress job. Always short staffed yet they let you go at any moment. Often wonder why I even took MLA certificate because most days this job is not worth it at all. Pay is low for the amount of work that you are doing. Not to mention that most of the people are judgemental and try to bully/tease others in the group that don't fit in.

The benefits would be the only reason to have this job, paid time off and insurance for example are very good. The actual job you have to do is incredibly stressful however, being constantly short staffed and only ever having increasing workloads in term of volume is not healthy. The management is also constantly shifting so there is no follow through, sometimes your manager will have no idea what you do in your role.
