A typical day here at work is assisting our customers in finding what they are looking for either for themselves our  a gift for a friend. I love my job here because we are always doing something interesting one day we help them get dress, some need help with colour due to lost of sight or simply be here to listen and suggest items. When stock comes it's fun to open all the boxes and see the new items and put them out on the floor.  I love that we do not work on commission and we strickly care about helping the customers. All the ladies I work with are wonderful and we work well together. There is no hard part of my job but when there is no customers we simply keep ourselves busy by organizing and cleaning.  The most enjoyable part of my job is seeing happy customers after  you've assisted them and that does not always end up in a sale but regardless when you are genuine with people and you care they appreciate that.

A typical day at Alia N' Tan Jay consisted of arriving early enough to unlock the doors, make sure everything was neat and tidy, balancing the cash and opening the store.  

Greeting each customer as they come through the door, being attentive enough to each one and making sure they knew about daily/weekly specials.   Asking enough questions to be sure if they are truly needing something or just browsing, then offer additional items to try on that were related to the item they were seeking.

Management was very nice, informative and flexible.  co-workers were enthusiastic and friendly. 

The hardest part of the job was dis-assembling and redressing heavy mannequins in the window.

The most enjoyable part of the job was the interaction with staff and customers.  Meeting the needs of new and old customers was always a satisfying part of my day.

The only reason I liked working here was the clientele and some coworkers. 

I never got any day shifts and when I did it was only for 3 hours (long enough to cover breaks) which sucks because you are basically graded on your sales and that is how they determine if you are a good employee or not. 

Another thing that sucked is that you had to wear what was sold in store. So you were spending upwards to $200 for work clothes, they had to be current and once they were no longer sold in store (or on clearance) you could no longer wear them, you get stuck with a large amount of clothes you probably don't ever wear again.


After a while you realize you are spending your pay checks mostly on work clothes and find the small amount of hours you do get are not really worth it.

it was not a difficult job but a lot of pressure to make sales I was a student during this time and never felt that my studies were a priority to the management, in the end, I missed one day of work and they took that as an excuse to let me go although it was a valid one.
they were not located in the best place and sales were poor, I felt as if they would try to point blame at the employees when clearly it was just that they were badly located and didn't have the clientele.

The manager is not easy to work for.  The job itself is quite easy but the manager makes it extremely difficult to do your job by constantly assigning duties but then sending you on an errand for her so the work in store is never completely finished.  She stated after a week that in order to work there she expects no life outside of the store and said a cot in the staff room would be .good when

I had a lot of good and bad employees, we had good laughs and always made the best of everything. 
Management was bad at 2  jobs I was working at, because of how they treated Staff and some customers bad. 
The hardest part of my jobs where dealing with cranky customers 

The enjoyable part of my job is knowing regular customers that make you laugh, also knowing them by name.

Our location is in a small town, therefore we have regular customers who come in all the time and you get an almost "family" feel when working.  Our store manager is fantastic and she always does her best to be fair with scheduling and tasks.  
The company as a whole doesn't offer much in line of pay advancement but overall not a bad company to work for.  Also has a decent employee discount.

It’s sad to be truthful. There is no leader, there is a boss and she takes full advantage of getting away with doing nothing but telling others and telling us it’s easy. If it’s easy then why can’t she do it!! 
I feel like I am in grade school and can not speak with the big boss as it will ruin our bosses job security.

I really enjoyed working with the customers that came to the store. They all loved it and I had a really good time doing the everyday tasks. It was relaxed even though there was problems with the upper management.

Great product quality,  great people,  great commissions! I worked for this company twice in my career, once as a manager and once as an fashion consultant.  Helping close the doors on the store, was difficult.
