Aluma

The problem with Aluma is that the people that manage it are happy with their setup because everyone in the offices who sit behind desks and spend hours upon hours having meetings and making good money on salary. And I get it, they went to school and went in student loan debt or whatever so they could get the higher paying job making "the big decisions". I have no problem with that. What I DO have a problem with is the fact that the ACTUAL LABOR that it takes to get the jobs done is shouldered upon the labor workforce, and they're the ones who don't get paid nearly as much as they should since it all boils down to the actual work load and how it's handled. I'm not saying they should get paid AS much, but for what our wages were, they definitely could've and should've been more generous for what was expected. And sadly management still has their head up their you know whats because they think the wages they pay are fair given the fact that every year the cost of food/fuel/life in general goes up annually due to inflation. But do their wages go up fairly? No. I was hired as a zoom boom operator/material handler and eventually was going to undertake a massive responsibility following the huge yard overhaul in Edmonton's south side location. I only lasted 6 months. I was actually more than happy to have made a career out of working for them, I liked the work and I didn't mind one iota if I ever had to spend a day off my machine and doing grunt work, that stuff was totally fine with me because mama didn't raise no sissy. What tore it for me was I found out that they agreed to only giving a $0.10 cent raise annually every year for the next 5 years for their at-the-time new union contract, which is more than a joke, meanwhile all my other operators who had been there for a long time were making 10 bucks more an hour than me. Why would I stay for such a disgusting pay gap when I have to assume the same duties and responsibilities as them. What kind of crooked underpaid gong show are you guys running there at Aluma, you think it's fair paying your guys top tier salaries for being desk jockies yet the guys who actually freeze their you know what's off in the yard half the year in the winter and sweat their you know what's off in the summer the other half, the ones who actually do the work, make probably less than half you do? 

Like how rude is it to not even take into consideration a wage grid for new-hires? Absolutely inconsiderate and just proves how ignorant and far up their you know what's management's head is. They honestly deserve to go under for being so crooked.

-Year round work
-They at least give the annual holidays off so you can look forward to getting long weekend every now and again
-Paid every two weeks, which again is a pro because the 15th/30th pay schedule really bites
-Decent medical/dental benefits. Nothing to write home about but a bit better than what I've seen offered at other companies
-At the time the gentleman who was my foreman's boss was a really nice guy, actually didn't have his head up his you know what, and was generally understanding when it came to being made aware of the problems and challenges our crew would sometimes face and the 'kinks' that we needed to iron out to make operations smoother

Was not able to get a job in my field due to not having a heavy duty license. Received a letter from X employer with documented hours eligible to challenge the government exam.  
In the mean time Aluma hired me as first year insulator!! Great Trade!! Great experience. Passed government exam and now I'm a red seal journeyman and wanting to return back on the wrenches.

This is an excellent company to work for and lots of rrom for moving around the company in all aspects and roles.In my role i deal With the Client on a daily basis and i enjoy all the meetings and estimating planning and cordinating is an excellent oppotunity to see what lies next.

My experience at Aluma was very positive.  It was a great environment to work in with trained professionals, great resource were always accessible and willing to help. The only negative was traveling from home and high demands of work load.

I am a union scaffolder and have worked for them for many years in different places. Management is great with open door policy and seem to have our best interest in mind. 

the company is great and the crew is very knowledgeable. very helpful with for teaching you new things. Look forward to returning to work for this company in the near future.

alumma systems is a good company if you want to brake your back for your boss good over all working conditions shift work is nice get paid weekly

Great place to work with excellent work/ life balance. Able to take time off whenever needed. Personally growth was not easy as ongoing training was not easily supported.

I experienced very good team quality, lots of oppurtunities. I worked for them for 5yrs. with many different management teams, getting along with all of them
