The location at Doncaster, Thornhill is pretty awful. The management is full of two-faced employees who pretend to be open-minded to new ideas and suggestions but will never actually put anything into action because they think they're the smartest around. 
Everybody in the office goes around gossiping about everybody else, there is heavy favoritism in the workplace so unless you're over there kissing up then expect nothing but power tripping. Some of the people in management have creepy and borderline predatory behaviour towards the high school students that get hired there. The owners are disrespectful and are constantly coming into the work place and hovering around.

The job tasks themselves are repetitive and boring, there are days where there is nothing at all to be doing so you just walk around back and forth for hours. Management is usually too busy being useless to notice that the majority of the employees are doing nothing, standing around talking and talking hour long breaks so don't bother trying to impress, do the absolute least and even then that's doing too much.
The only good thing here is that scheduling is flexible so it's easy to work on the side while also being in school or doing other things.
There is a zero percent change of having any meaningful career progression by being here, only work here if you need some quick cash on the side.

I learned that its best to read employee reviews before accepting employment. The reviews on here are true and will save you a lot of wasted time and energy with Ambrosia Natural Foods.

The management has poor communication and leadership skills. No direction was ever given. I literally could spend an entire shift doing basically nothing or spend it reorganizing an entire section. Guess what neither were ever noticed. How crazy is that. 

A lot of drama and gossip, extreme favouritism (the most I've ever seen in any workplace). You'd think a health food store would be a postive place to work but the workplace morale is very poor.

The hardest part of the job was having to deal with sadistic owners and the constant fear of getting instantly fired for literally any reason. Also having to see GOOD co-workers getting fired for stupid reasons was upsetting. 

The most enjoyable part of this job were most of my co-workers, they were friendly, helpful, and had good humour. Lots of laughs in the lunch room.

All HARD workers are mistreated and your job IS literally like walking on eggshells. You're never right in any situation. You are literally forced to shut your mouth and work. It feels like a prison, there is cameras left right and centre, NO personal space and you only get 1 15 minute break working an 8 hour shift. They don't care about their employees. People WILL snitch on you so don't trust anyone there. This is a dead end job.

EXTREMELY hostile environment. DON'T WORK THERE! 

The most enjoyable part of my job was getting paid....PRETTY MUCH. That's what kept me there honestly..

For the most part, working at Ambrosia can be a rewarding experience. You have a sense of structure, managers are available if you need assistance, and you generally can derive enjoyment from your day of work.

The company does have its flaws, such as some inconsistencies in workflow depending on the season, but otherwise you can confidently work on aspects of your experience that you can then take with you should you desire to move elsewhere. 

They are flexible with part-time and full-time shifts, but paid vacation and full-time benefits are typical compared to other entry-level positions. 

I've been at Ambrosia for a few years now in the office and the atmosphere has always been very friendly, with management who is very willing to work with you on scheduling and potential conflict resolution. I've had a few unexpected absences and never felt like I was being penalized, instead other staff and mgmt stepped up to offer their assistance so that I wouldn't fall behind when I returned. 

The benefits are good, there’s always some sort of food that staff can grab in the lunchroom, or supplement/beauty samples to try, and it’s the type of place where you can grow, if you’d like to. Over the years I’ve seen many floor staff work their way from cashier/customer service to office roles. 

This is an especially great first job, whether you’re into the natural health field or just want to work at a place that's more laid back, where you can make actual friendships with your co-workers and be treated well by your managers. 


The management was deceptive during the interview process in making the company seem like a great place to work...run! There is an extreme lack of direction and high turn over rate. Constantly firing every week and if asked to work more hours, you will not be paid for it. Management talks bad about staff and will easily dismiss you and/or ignore you if they don't like your personality. If you ask for direction, you will automatically be red flagged. It has absolutely nothing to do with work ethic and everything to do with being part of a clique. It's like a bunch of adults that are stuck in high school and didn't advance. 

The drama stems from the owners due to lack of emotional intelligence, professionalism and just not knowing how to act like decent human beings. Save your time and look for a real job, this one will be short lived.

I worked here for around 11 months. Not only was I relentlessly harassed and bullied by an ex manager (who rightfully and thankfully got the boot), the owners are god awful too. No matter how hard you work or follow the rules to a perfect T, you’re always doing something wrong somehow. The owner (woman) once raised her voice so loud at me for making an honest mistake it terrified me. I couldn’t believe the shock I was in. This place is run by a bunch of adult bullies. Do yourself a huge favour and stay far FAR away! This place is a joke. Oh! And the health and safety issues in this place are insane (I’ve seen it all)! I feel bad for the customers. Can’t imagine how people got sick not knowing it was because they got their groceries from a dirty, rundown place like this.

Don't even think of applying to this job...YOU WILL get fired for a fact. It could be the next few days it could be months it could be years, but they find a stupid reason to fire you. The management is disgusting, the owners are rude and don't give a flying F about you. You will slave and once a year they will tell you that they know how hard you are working which is bull. Their environment is gross and I don't know how health inspection keeps passing them.. Customers are EXTREMELY RUDE and ignorant. They don't supply their workers with proper attire for the winter (receivers) jackets and gloves and for the clerks that do freezers. They don't pay over time even if they ask you to work longer and they cut hours on your paychecks without you knowing. This a cheap, nasty company. Not worth your time.

The staff and the managers are great. The store is clean and well organized. Colleges are always willing to help even if they don't work in your area.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Getting all the products on the shelves 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is satisfactory. I've worked there for 3 years and  I havent come across to many issues. The staff and managers are great to work with . 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It's a very warm environment.  From the time I arrive , till the end of the day everything goes smoothly. I look forward to starting my day with a smile and definitely enjoy the duration of my 8 hour shift with my wonderful colleagues.
