Ambulance New Brunswick

Paramedic for 18 years. Been with ANB for most of that. It’s a pay check. The management is non existent. I’m not supported at work in any way. The only time I ever hear from my manager is if I’ve done something wrong or there’s a been a complaint. In fact I haven’t physically been in the same room with my manager since about 8 months ago. The management needs to be better. I will say they do a good job for people experiencing job related mental health issues. Need time off? Just get a note from a doctor and it’s done. Need to see a psychologist? Just ask and they book the appointment and pay for it. So they are good for that. But I can’t really say I feel valued or respected, I feel like a number so to speak. 

Horrendous place to work. It's a burnout waiting to happen. The atmosphere is toxic. Management micromanages and puts people on edge. People will smile to your face and then talk badly about you the second your back is turned. You can't trust anyone. I loved being a paramedic. The job is, for the most part, great. The management and the people will make you question why you ever wanted to do this job in the first place. You could make MUCH more money as a paramedic in other provinces.

Fun job with little to no micromanaging. Wages are decent based off of education level. Some really good clinicians in the province despite that. Continued education is lacking and breeds skill decay. Management from the top seem so disconnected from the medics on the ground. Middle management is powerless and gets it from both ends. Some good managers and some horrible. 

Job is great. Company cares about no one except for their numbers. As an employee you are just a number. Can’t manage calls. Ambulances driving over 1 hr to get to another city because those medics are sitting in offload delay. Pulling trucks from other districts to do posts. Then leaving that district without their priority posts covered! 

Worked as a Primary Care Paramedic with Ambulance New Brunswick for eight years.  I gained a lot of personal and professional experience in this time frame.  I am grateful to my co workers and management for helping gain experience through teamwork and advice on how to do better in this wonderful career.

One of the poorest managed and understaffed EMS systems in the country. Poor wages and benefits. A massive gap between the realities of management versus those working on the trucks. Zero career path or plans in place to foster growth and career development within the work force 

Very busy system which you operate as a small piece of the healthcare cog wheel. It's a rewarding career that has some real world challenges of burnout and empathy draining days. Work continues to establish ourselves as recognized health care professionals. 

No opportunity for growth. Not well managed and the company doesn’t care about its employees. The paramedics are always fighting with each other and there’s no comradely. Would not recommend to a friend.

Amazing and highly rewarding job. The work culture is great and the coworkers and managers are a great group of people. It can be tough to handle life or death calls  but the support is incredible and the training process is very helpful. 

Chronically Short staffed. Very stressful environment. Coworkers are highly skilled & adept at their job but extremely unprofessional. The stress of the job & being chronically understaffed make it a poisonous environment.
