I was hired on the spot and was told I would be given a chance. First day I was given reading materials with a lot of information, I am not a fast reader but I did my best. I did want to bring the handbooks home but was told I would continue the next day. They are very stand offish when it comes to drinking coffee with their machine. I was on floor ONE DAY, I was on the pallet jack then helped with a skid. Next day I was about to put on my suit for the freezer when I was told not too. I waited 15 minutes just to be told "for unknown reasons we have to let you go" or something along those lines during a super cold week. I wasn't really given a fair chance and wished I knew what I did so I could improve for future employers. It took 2 extra days to get my pay as they made an error on my transfer. The hiring manger is very nice. but overall I would not recommend this place to anyone, it just sets you up to feel like a failure. 

Your shift starts with a meeting and handing out the jobs. There is usually at least one broken machine and 2 or 3 machines which feel too slow to get the job done. There are a lot of tempers in the wrong places which causes a walk on eggshells kind of atmosphere where people prefer to keep silent rather than voice their opinion. The most difficult part of the job is the frustration of constantly being told it isn't in the budget. I can't say it's a good idea to work here unless things change.

Local management is typically good, however Director level and up gets progressively worse. Most are either bullies or snakes who tell you what you want to hear. The company would rather spend it's money on new acquisitions and fat management bonuses (no bonuses for hourly employees) versus badly needed repairs at existing facilities. 

Your work-life balance is what you decide to put in. Some managers are on-site barely 20 hours a week and others 60+. 

Compensation is pretty standard for the industry.

There was no chance of advancement at all because I was a female.

Working at Americold Logistics is good if you’re looking for stability and don’t mind a cold environment. Since it’s a frozen goods warehouse, expect to be working in low temperatures but they do provide proper gear to keep you warm. The job itself is pretty straightforward, with positions ranging from forklift operation to order picking and inventory management. The job can be physically demanding, but the team atmosphere helps. If you’re looking for steady work, it’s worth considering.

Lifting heavy boxes into a 40ft transport trailers

Cold environment and don't talk to the guys who are high on drugs

Steady and try keep busy with out asking what to do every day

Work, hours, and operation are generally decent. 

Hard to progress, hard to get wage increases and benefits were offered over wage increases. Vacation was challenging to take, and sicktime was horrid. 

Management struggles to understand the affects policy's they implemente. They will listen no problem, but the moment you're done talking it goes back to normal. 

Management sees the employees as nothing more than a number, you are considered ‘less than’ by management. They prefer you to have no personal life and live to work. The communication is garbage. Huge favouritism and if they decide they don't like you they will ‘punish’ you in any way they can. Honestly would be happier at a drive through window working minimum wage.

Busy and stressful, security cameras used to spy on employees

A cold, crowded , s*** show.  Nothing spectacular.  Nothing more than a paycheque that pays the bills. Horrible benefits. No room for advancement. Pay is not appropriate or competitive for a cold storage company, especially in London.  Don’t waste your time with this place.  You can do better!!
