As I look down at previous reviews about Amped Electrical, I see that there is a recurring theme that Amped lays off before the probation period is up and pays poorly. I have worked for Amped electrical for going on five years and I disagree with these statements.

 When I had my initial interview I was told that I would be given an opportunity to show what I was capable of and that is what I did. To succeed in this industry effort to learn/grow and adapt must be put in by the individual on a regular basis. People that become stagnant in their growth will be quickly passed by younger hungrier candidates. Just like a company that became stagnant in it's growth would be surpassed by better companies.

Amped electrical has a strong team environment and they are always looking to better the team. My guess is that the individuals who poorly rated this company were not team players and expected to just succeed by showing up everyday. If you are a person like me that wants to succeed in everything they do and truly wants a career and not just a job then Amped Electrical is the place. Most of my fellow employees haven't written a positive review because they are busy working at their career and not at home looking for a job.





Expect this to be a short stop. Most of my crew was turned over before I was laid off conveniently before my probation period was up. This company refuses to pay for stats, and has no problem letting you go right before the holidays. The crew that is permanent either have a connection to management or are known to spend their own personal time and money on things that the company should provide (e.g. spade bits). This, along with there being a serious lack of journeymen around led to a toxic and scouts-like atmosphere with dumb apprentices leading other dumb apprentices. If you are brand new, they will teach you certain things poorly or incorrectly to save themselves money, and you won't know where electrical code begins and where company policy ends. They keep that vague on purpose. On top of that, the pay is garbage, and you are expected to take a 30-minute unpaid break even if you do not need one, and you are to stick behind for 15 minutes after your shift ends to have a meeting for the next day. Don't waste your time, wait for a quality job to come around and avoid this dump.

Everything I share is opinionated and I encourage you to consider Amped to get your own perspective. 

I believe there is only one scenario in which you should take advantage of an opportunity. If you are a young/new apprentice with a hunger to learn the trade and can live off low pay you can learn a lot about the trade at this company. 

If this doesn’t suit your situation run for the hills. You will be underpaid for as long as possible. Manipulated to exploit every ounce of work out of you. And let go at any given moment. Keep your options open. Consider gaining your own perspective if you wish just beware and never let your guard down. 

Typical day ? Start with stress and anxiety,  move onto feeling overwhelmed, underpaid and under appreciated, finish your day knowing you have to go back tomorrow. 

Management is very bad, your superiors are overworked so you will be overworked, rather than raises we had once a month pizza days, and even if you’re an apprentice you’ll be expected to figure most things out by yourself.

I learned that most construction companies out there don’t care about their employees, safety isn’t that important, and i’d say my most enjoyable time was friday end of day.  

 

This company only thinks about themselves and don’t care about employees at all. They have a hierarchy of guys at the top who continuously bring people in when it is busy and they have a few jobs on the go, then lay them off the second they catch up. Hence why, they are always looking for employees. Often times, the apprentices are just told to do something without even being shown how to do it. Terrible work culture.

I got hired in August of 2019 and for a couple of months I really enjoyed the work. My foreman was awesome and coworkers were generally polite. It wasn’t until I was nearing my probationary period that I was suddenly “laid off” due to a lack of work. Every 1st year I worked with were also laid off just before 3 months. Don’t work here unless yo you only need temporary work.

Good place to work when you’re starting out - however they will usually lay off their more experienced employees in favor of cheaper apprentices so don’t expect to advance with this company.
Great people to work with, lots of different jobs, training is seriously lacking as the ratio of apprentices to journeyman is 8:1.

Would not recommended working for them unless you’re planning to leave after a month or 2 cause any more than that they have zero care for employees they’re site super is awful at communicating would constantly send me to nowhere or forget to text me office employees were terrible the actual workers are the only good thing at amped but they will just be let go in a month 

I have been working for Amped electrical since I was a first year.  If your a hard worker and good at your job you will be rewarded with growth and pay.  After starting out as a first year I am now a project manager.  The work place is fun but also competitive.   Highly recommend  if your looking for somewhere to learn and grow.

Employees overall were pretty good to work with, but wow this company is cheap and not safety oriented. Lowest wages in Victoria. They never updated my hours with the ITA- I literally had to get my new company to enter the hours I worked with amped. Greed is what drives this machine. Stay away.
