What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Expected to carry out a crazy amount of work for very little pay. You are supposed to pretend that it is the most serious job you have ever had, and you will get micromanaged for the smallest things. It gets very busy and very stressful over the summer, you will frequently find yourself beyond the point of exhaustion. Need a mental health break? Can't physically and mentally push yourself anymore? Goodluck because management couldn't care any less about any of your problems. They might pretend, but all they want from you is to grind as hard as possible every single time. Racism is extremely rampant, though they will deny it because of the little "diversity" they have on their team.  Management favours those who actively go against you, even if their intentions are jealousy or pure racism. The more you complain about other people, the more they like you. If you develop friendships with coworkers, you will get targeted. Your best bet is pretending you are on good terms with terrible supervisors. This is the most miserable place I have ever worked at, everyone on the team dislikes each other. The energy is extremely unwelcoming and hostile. New manager is horrible, steals tips and is rarely ever on the floor. Pretends to be on the computer for work related purposes, but was often caught either working on his other job, or doing something completely unrelated or unimportant. Yet, he will still get the tips you grinded extremely hard for while he sits on the computer for hours. He will do his best to stay for extra time so he can get more of your tips. You will get promised a lot of things but management loves to lie. This place is absolutely horrible, RUN!

Awesome work environment is the highlight in relation to working in the cafe world. Very diverse staff coming from many walks of life, all with unique personalities that made working with each one a daily treat.  

Customers were just as diverse as the staff, with positives and negatives associated with that. Some of the regulars are incredible with a genuine possibility of forming lasting relationships, while others can be a pain to deal with at times, which is nothing new to those in the service industry. 

In store manager is great, very professional and kind with a good work life balance mentality. Walked a line of being the loved manager that knew when to be stern about work practices and professionalism among staff. 

At time of employment, the franchise was going through a new ownership transition which has at times put a strain on staff as new practices were being implemented to allow for new locations to open and have a consistent product across all stores. This friction would push some long term staff and customers away as the location had lost some of its individual identity in favour of a franchised location with similar business practices to any other chain coffee shop, for better or worse.

Overall, I would consider Analog to be a growing entity that has some wrinkles to iron out in this period of transition and the Analog I worked for may not be the same place after these changes. However, the people that work on the floor will always make the environment what it is and if you enjoy a culture of unique interactions in an location that sees a much faster pace than most cafes you will find success here. 

No hate to this company but to the manager who from day one made me feel terrible. They would push independents and teamwork yet not train me to do anything.  I would constantly ask but they would not let me grow and would allow others to do things. the manager would constantly gossip and get mad at you at things they would never communicate to you and would  make the laziest meanest people the supervisor (the bullies ). I really wanted to be a barista but this value of community they preach was not at my location it was so clicky from day one so sad because that is not what coffee culture is about. I did make a few friends.  This company can do better at listening to the employees, properly training and not hirring managers that can’t manage and are insecure about themselves that they have to let others that they are ment to be leading feel like a outsider. Only apply if your their friend or you will be a target.

A typical day was busy and fast-paced, which kept me attentive and helped me carry out my responsibilities quickly and efficiently. I learned how to make several coffee and tea drinks, as well as how to operate the till and speak to customers. 

I thought management was considerate of every person's skills; we were all placed in roles that we could excel in. My co-workers were wonderful people that genuinely loved coffee.

The hardest part of the job was resolving issues with frustrated customers. At the same time, one of the most enjoyable parts of the job was becoming familiar with regular customers; I could build friendly relationships with the people that came by frequently.

Overall, I had the best time working for Analog. I was surrounded by great coffee and great people.

My specific location was very fast-paced and tedious about quality (not a bad thing). But if you thrive in these environments, I'm sure you'd have a blast. Tips are also pretty good, especially now that customers are back at work. My specific location had great management at one point, but I'm not too sure about others. As for district managers and the owners, they were alright as well. I would say the downside of working here is that there is very little room for job advancement and dealing with difficult customers. I have met many awful people, but I have also met some of the best people, including my co-workers. 

I was trained extensively at Analog and welcomed as a part of their team immediately. I loved the family vibe of the staff, however the customers seem to think they own the place at times.. not leaving when we’re closed, taking their shoes off and watching movies for 8 hours (seriously), moving tables everywhere, etc. The owners are pretty hands on, they stop by often, they’re polite but not friendly. Overall I really would recommend working here


A lot of coffee making, from batch to pourover to espresso
A lot of cleaning and ensuring the store looks spotless 
A lot of dealing with really nice and really difficult customers
Pretty standard coffee shop tasks, repetitive, but rewarding if you work with the right group of people
Made some great friends and my manager was great as well, however I feel that unrealistic expectations put onto managers by the owners creates a stressful atmosphere for everyone, and for that the turnover is high.

This was a very fun and fulfilling job at first. I respect analog as a company and think what they're producing is good. However, I would work at any location other than the one I worked at due to terrible management. 

I worked here a total of 5 years and at all locations. Great people all around and since the ownership change, I can confidently say all of upper management is great. 
I've had amazing cafe managers while working here and genuinely enjoy coming to work.
Can be very fast paced at times.
Minimum wage and not too much of a wage increase when promoted, but tips do make up for it.

As far as working as a barista in customer service goes, Analog is the very best. The staff is incredible and we have a lot of fun. The environment is super fast paced and you are always busy, plus tips are much better here than other coffee shops.
