In regards to Andrew Sheret(Splashes is a separate part of the company)

I was hired on for shipping and receiving, which is where most employees will start. It allows you to be able to learn what the company does more behind the scenes before more cross training is offered.
With this job you're working normal week day hours (although we do have staff that are hired for the Tuesday-Saturday work week). Your day would consist of receiving product for the warehouse/orders and shipping out orders for our customers. 

Once you're comfortable with your knowledge of the inner workings of the warehouse, usually around the 1-3 month mark, you are encouraged to begin learning the desk. This is a lot of practice, practice, practice and self initiative to learn the products and the program that is used for taking orders. 
There is an incredible staff and management behind you the whole way with plenty of encouragement to push yourself and advance your knowledge, as well as a Training Coordinator that visits every so often from head office to go a little deeper into your knowledge across the board.

If you choose to be dedicated to your growth in this company, they will give you the opportunity to do so. There may not be as much movement in the smaller branches (mainly AB/SK) but there's enough to know where you want to go, and what's possible for your career and future, fairly early on. 
Being a part of 1 of the 2 branches in Saskatchewan there is plenty of a foundation to be built within the company from right here. I believe being one of the first we are breaking ground for what the company can expect from us moving forward in our province. That being said, if you are someone who sees your future in Alberta or BC there are opportunities to transfer that way when jobs become available.

In my experience, this company can only do as much for you as you allow for yourself. This can mean big things for your personal and professional growth. If you feel like taking on a job that will allow that room for potential, give it a chance. Saskatoon is an amazing branch to be a part of. 

I have worked at Andrew Sheret Limited's Head Office, in the Marketing Department, for almost five years.  I absolutely LOVE it.  There are many employees that have worked 30+ years at this company.  I feel valued, and management is always open to my feedback/ideas.  I am always collaborating with other departments.  We have fun staff parties and the benefits are fantastic.  It is hard to pinpoint my favourite part of working here, but I would have to say it is the people.  We are not just co-workers, we are a family.  The management team at Head Office believes in positive reinforcement, so I feel at ease when going to my boss with any questions, comments, or concerns.  It is a busy place to work, and I do have days where it is stressful- but I like that.  The stress is never overwhelming, and management jumps in to support whenever I ask for it.  It is fun to be a part of a team that is working together to accomplish great things.

Most of the Staff is super friendly. One of them is super petty and will tell management on you about everything and will get you fired. 

If you have kids and have to take a day off due to them being sick, you have it unpaid, as they don't allow you to use sick days for your kids. This is an absolutely ridiculous rule, especially for single parents.

They don't have proper benefits for their Alberta Employees. The benefits provider they use is BC based and nobody in Alberta takes that provider. 

They care more about the customers than they do their own staff. Hopefully you have a bad work ethic too, cause they love to keep ppl who don't have proper work ethic but will fire someone with really good work ethic. You will also work Saturdays if you aren't reception or management. 

You also don't get holidays for a full year and just have to take unpaid time off, which is super unfair. So you're basically busting your butt for a year with no appreciation. Don't recommend working here.

Can't retain staff to save themselves, it's been a revolving door for about 6 months. None of the recieving staff has been with the company longer than 6 months at best, barring the warehouse supervisor.

Counter staff are overwhelmed and overworked, with no replacements in sight for those that depart from the company. Management refuses to address the staffing problems and will not backfill staff at the counter level.

Work/Life balance is a joke, the skeleton-crewed Saturday shifts ruin whatever life you might have. They don't even pay weekly overtime for these shifts, just give either a Monday or Friday off the following week in lieu. None of the competitors (eg; Emco, Wolseley's) are open Saturdays either and the sales just don't justify being open.

A typical day goes by quickly with a wide variety of interesting assignments and tasks to complete, and multiple interactions with others at different organizational levels and locations.  The diverse employee and management group I work with is professional and respectful. The company strives to listen to, and then carefully address, their employees' concerns while adeptly continuing to move the business forward and handle all the challenges that come at it. Where I work, everyone is friendly and outgoing.  The hardest part of my job is when people leave the company. The best part is when so many choose to join us. 

If you are looking for a job that will challenge you (in the worst way) then this is your place!

To be fair, all the warning signs are presented during the interview, just read between the lines.
eg.  How do you feel about DOS computer system?
in other words... how do you feel about having your brain transported to 1989?
Not born yet?  too bad, ignore all the advancements to make your job easier the last 40 yrs.  Who needs them!

Management? The only thing being managed is the "status quo".  Accept the worst job experience of your life or leave.  

Hardest part of the job?  Getting through the longest, miserable work day imaginable.  No, I am not exaggerating. 
Most enjoyable part?  5pm and getting to walk out the door.

The team I got to work with was fabulous, but management provides all sorts of false promises and zero training or support. 

You are expected to do the work of multiple people, for less than industry standard pay, and no guidance on how to do the job or improve. 

Your knowledge and experience will be ignored, in favor of whatever management personally wants. And your accomplishments will fall on deaf ears.

Run far and fast to someplace that will treat you better.

Sherets are like family to me tho I don’t recognize many people anymore
On the counter lotta new blood all the time. Maybe it’s not what it once was 
I would give it a try if I was young 


From colleagues to management, Andrew Sheret Limited is full of amazing staff that really care about their customers and coworkers, along with what they do. 
This organization provides the ability to move up in the company and even transfer locations for new opportunities as they arise. 
It has been a wonderful journey from the moment I stepped into the interview.
I highly recommend the company for anyone who is looking for a great career and wants to be part of something great.

It started out as a pretty good place to work at and was a nice atmosphere to be in. Employees were easy to get along with and great communication and team work. Enjoyed coming to work and helping customers find what they needed. 

After being there for a year and a bit and new management, it really took a down turn.  Bad employee turn over rate, atmosphere didn't feel safe, became very clique, double standards, poor/ conflicting communication between staff and customers, and more. 

I absolutely don't recommend working there, unless you constantly want to be stressed.
