Work days are well paced depending on production quota's and the number of orders coming in, it's not uncommon on slower days to be talking with the production manager and other department heads to find out what you can expect to work on for the day.

Apollo is also a great company for learning various manufacturing jobs such as lathe, CNC, trepan, shot peen, chem plating, etc. so being hired on as general labour you can expect to learn a lot and eventually get comfortable in one department or another.

Management does it's best to keep every department running and working on something, safety management and procedures are well laid out so long as you can pay attention to detail.

Company supplies good benefits and base pay, co-workers are more often friendly and easy going so long as they aren't up to their neck in production.

Facilities are pretty standard and organized, clean with a fresh coat of paint every so often, though some older equipment definitely shows it's age.

The occasional company event tends to give you the feeling you're not just a number but a valued member of the company.

Overall if you prove yourself capable, willing to challenge yourself to always learn, pay attention to detail, micro-manage efficiently, and give that extra bit of effort, management takes notice.

From the start you’ll get hired as labourer at labour rate then potentially transition to a Laser Operator. Once you are a laser operator you will still continue to be paid as a labourer. The pay scale makes no sense. Feels like some are being taken advantage of. As a cylindrical grinder it’s advertised at $27-$33 yet the job posting says you can progress to Laser Operator. So you’d think a Laser Operator would be paid similarly to a grinder, but to them you are just a labourer. Already seen a few people leave for more money and I’m sure there’s more to come. The shifts are good, everyone is friendly, decent benefits  (not fully  paid by employer) Manager of shop very good to work with. Always willing to help you out. All in all if they paid the laser operators fairly this would be an ideal place to work. If you have some good experience in a variety of different jobs I’d recommend looking else where.

The actual work is ok but conditions are petty. The management do not consider the worker to be an important part of the business so they have a high fire mentality. On any given day there is the unnecessary pressure of any sense of job security. They seem to promote a back stabbing mentality so you will find it difficult to become credible. This is the worse company I have ever work for in 30 yrs of manufacturing experience. The management have reached there level of incompetence and it shows in there work ethic and man management skills. On the bright side they have realised their condition and are seeking to improve this. 
As far as engineering goes Apollo Machine are about 20 yrs behind in technology, they have some state of the art machine but they use antiquated methods and tooling. Nothing good to say about this company realy.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Very competent employees. Have everything you need to get the job done. Clean and friendly environment. I did enjoy working with this company before the layoffs. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The size and cost of the parts if you make a mistake. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly and helpful.  If I had any questions about the parts or programming. They had knowledgeable people to help you understand why a certain process was being utilized. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
When I was working at Apollo, show up and get a brief summary of how the previous shift went and what to watch out for or what may need to be addressed.

Promoting is often done without wage increases. Shop has a safety program but it is lacking as most concerns do not get traction.   Shop is not the messiest I have worked for but certainly not the cleanest.  Managers are respectful and will make time for you if you are willing to insist on a conversation.  No performance reviews are done. You are responsible for paying for your own work boots. Also there is one 10 min and one 15 min break.   Overtime comes and goes but is never pushed on you.  Benefits package lacks basics like massage therapy and physiotherapy and is employee paid.   There is an RRSP matching program after 1 year. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Not much to look forward to working there. Poor management and nepotism runs rampant there. Zero company building programs. Do what your told and be grateful. Very hard to get raises 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Poor management and lack of tooling. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
 Terrible management. To many owners that all want their piece of the pie. Very hard to get raises or move up. Allot of nepotism. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long hours the shop has very little tooling which makes jobs very difficult to run. They keep buying more machines and no tooling for them. Quite pathetic actually.

A typical work day was painful to get through, management fired all co-workers in Shot peen area causing one person to do many labourers work. Co-worker harassment for not going fast enough and taking early breaks with the entire shop. Wages were assigned poorly, labourers make same amount as a shot peener or taper. I had to ask for raises more than once. The hardest part of the job had to be handling hypocrites/co-workers. Would have stayed with the company had there been a little more credit and positive feed back.

I had the honor to be a part of the Apollo Machine team for almost 4 years. 

I respect the Management tremendously for being able to manage as well as to take care of so many people and love each and every one of my ex co-workers. We were working as a strong team to provide excellence. I was compensated very well and never had to ask for a raise. The only reason for my leaving was that my husband and I started a business of our own.

I enjoyed working here but my stress levels were too high. Not job related. You only get three chances to make a mistake and your gone...they do how ever expect too much from you. The hours are excellent and the pay is god but if your new and you don't fit in with some of the senior machinists they will let management know. This will go against you for your probation period.

Apollo machine is a fine place to work for hard-working, productive people. Work expectations are ever-changing and change with the manager on duty or depending on the status of a particular run. Job expectations and duties can change without notice and overtime is expected. However, if you can go with the flow and put-out, you'll be rewarded for your time.
