What is the best part of working at the company?
I’ve been a Distribution & Collection Operator here for four years, and it’s been a very positive experience from day one. Management is supportive, approachable, and genuinely invested in both the team and the work we do.

The training opportunities are excellent, with strong hands-on learning that allows you to build real skills and confidence in the field. You’re not stuck in a “pigeonhole” position — there’s variety in the work, exposure to different aspects of operations, and real opportunities to grow.

It’s a workplace that values teamwork, safety, respect and quality, and I’m proud to be part of it.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
the challenges of working in a historic community with older infrastructure but manageable      

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is respectful, team-oriented, and strongly focused on safety and quality. Management is supportive and provides great hands-on training, with opportunities to grow and gain experience across different areas instead of being stuck in one role.



The pay and benefits look decent when you’re hired, but work-life balance is another story. Having weekends off doesn’t mean much when your paycheck doesn’t cover your bills and you’re spending every weekend worrying about how to make ends meet.

Morale is the lowest I’ve seen in a workplace. Employees feel undervalued, unheard, and constantly under a microscope. Management seems more focused on finding someone to blame when things go wrong than working together to solve problems. Accountability often feels one-sided.

The company talks about teamwork, respect, and supporting employees, but many workers experience the opposite. There is a culture of fear around speaking up because people worry it will be held against them later. The result is low trust, poor morale, and high frustration throughout the workforce.

The people doing the actual work are generally great and look out for each other. Unfortunately, that is often what keeps the place running.

Aquatera is a great place to work with a strong sense of teamwork, safety, and purpose. A typical day is busy but rewarding, filled with hands-on work, problem-solving, and collaboration between water, wastewater, and distribution teams. The company provides excellent opportunities for learning, professional development, and leadership growth. Management is approachable and supportive, always encouraging staff to share ideas and improve operations. The workplace culture is positive and community-focused, where everyone takes pride in delivering safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible services. The hardest part of the job is balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, but it pushes you to grow and improve every day. The most enjoyable part is working alongside a great team and seeing the direct impact your work has on customers and the community.

Despite my colleague's advice i took the job, mostly for the competitive pay. For me at the time i was willing to overlook all of the negative reviews on here about the toxic work culture. 
I found it to be true about having a "target" painted on your back. Supervisors and those above you pretty much just care about their own agendas and making their own good impressions which is understandable. 
My work email was filled with daily notifications of people coming and leaving unfortunately. 
It was really hard to see this as a place worth spending my life at. All of the safety and team values they promote are ignored when you actually bring something up.

My advice here would be to try hard to fit into the clique if you want to make it, and please, don't believe the hype about the values and the pay. Working here can very well mean that you are jobless in a month because of their strict 6 month probation. It's a constant reminder that you have to be someone your coworkers really like, or else.  

Aquatera gave me the ability to be a pioneer by pursuing multiple directions to advance the company's direction, culture and business growth. They company provided resources and freedom to achieve quick solutions and follow them through to completion. With a great team of managers and staff it was a great place to work and a joy to be a leader in this company. 
The hardest part of the job was overcoming the outdated municipal culture that the company had inherited and replace it with a more entrepreneurial culture.
Seeing individuals grow and flourish under my leadership was the most rewarding part of my job. Seeing them continue to succeed is very satisfying.

Starting pay for level 1s was very good in comparison to other places but then don’t see much of a pay increase for higher levels unless you’re in management. The company seems to be expanding quicker than what they should. Employees are over worked and required to be on call all the time or covering other shifts at other locations. They promised shift work but smaller locations were never put on a shift schedule. No work life balance. Higher ups only seem concerned about the head office and not the smaller operations they are taking over. Way too much stress and lack of sleep getting called in at all hours. Good work experience to get your foot in the door for the industry or good job to pay the bills for a short period. 

I'm a current employee; been here for almost 20 years.  A lot of the comments here made me chuckle.  People fearing for their jobs... the only ones needing to fear for the jobs and look over their shoulders, are the ones who aren't very good at their jobs.  This company comes from a municipal background, which means there is a history of nepotism. That has been changing for the past few years. Accountability is being enforced. Both management and front-line staff get let go if they are not doing their jobs well, just like any well run business.

If you do good work and work hard to grow, this company rewards very well. It's not favoritism, it's recognition.

Work here if you want to be in constant fear for your job. Management controls staff through bullying and disciplinary actions. High stress where everyone is looking over their shoulder.
Company preaches mental health and well being without showing any care for your actual mental health. Management is quick to congratulate themselves on a job well done without actually accomplishing anything. They are more concerned about the bottom line instead of quality of work.

I’ve really enjoyed my time working here. The company provides fair pay, excellent benefits, and a healthy work-life balance. There’s a lot of flexibility, and leadership genuinely cares about employee well-being. My team is supportive, collaborative, and fun to work with — it truly feels like a great environment to grow both personally and professionally. I feel valued and appreciated for the work I do.

New Executive team are doing a great job changing the status quo in the last 3 years - sanitizing the culture and constantly trying to bring in the right talent. Relationship between union and management is greatly improved, lots of development programs for all employees at all levels, lots of internal promotions, lots of platforms to allow employee input on issues and how to improve things. It is fair to say there are some shortcomings but which organization isnt plagued like that? the best part of the company is positive outlook the CEO has on its future.
