Communication between departments was terrible, no one took ownership of mistakes, and the Graphic Design department was ground zero for all blame.

Most of the Sales Reps were egotistic, rude, had inappropriate conversations, and treated the Graphic Design department as lower class. 

The Co-Presidents lacked empathy, respect, proper communication skills, and would pass blame to just about anyone but themselves.

There was 0 diversity in the main offices. While any sign of culture, only came from the warehouses. 

They didn't seem to care about your design experience or even how good of a designer you were. I was hired with someone that had 0 design experience, no portfolio, and had never even used Photoshop or Illustrator prior to being hired.

The work load grows out of no where, and you're expected to keep up no matter what. The opportunity for a promotion or growth within the company is almost nonexistent. And there was virtually no opportunity to be creative and do something original. The projects were very mundane and repetitive. 

Training is good however once you are done training they expect you to bring your work home with you and do it after work or on weekends and over holiday break with no overtime pay. The salary really works out to minimum wage which is way to low for the amount of effort and focus that is put in. Little to no recognition. They will approve your time off but you will get in trouble for it later. The environment is toxic and you won't enjoy it unless you are in with the sales reps.  Management does not keep you in the loop. They will say you aren't getting enough work done even when you are done all your orders and are helping others.

It can be stressful at times but offers lots of diversity and rewarding experiences 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Managing production flow through motivating and working with others to provide a quality product and good customer experience

Typical day at work included dealing with toxic accounting colleague. They were behind maybe 4 years behind on some of the accounting and expected it to be done fast on top of daily tasks. Learned a lot surprisingly considering they're not the best in training. Management believed using fear would lead to less mistakes instead of being supportive. Workplace culture was pretty dull and depressing and just about no diversity in the administrative office. Hardest part of the job was leaving at 4 months instead of 3. Nothing about this job was enjoyable. 

I went for an in person interview where I was required to show my sewing skills. I was then lead to believe it would be a two day trial to determine if I would get the job, then all of a sudden it turned into a week trial. There is no proper training or clear direction of what to do on the job, just relying on other people who are cranky and don’t want to help you. The work conditions were not good as I was in pain everyday, and the washrooms were barely even functional. Terrible place to work.

They’ll hire anyone. Management is disorganized and dishonest about changes and decisions they make. The culture within the office is difficult to handle if you’re not “in” with the reps. Not flexible with hours. Travel as a rep is twice yearly, but won’t accommodate any plans you have at home when you’re deciding on a time to go. Poor salary; living on your commission. Overall not what it seems.

A very free and easy work environment. Unfortunately, it often gets too much for most. Long term employees there have no filters, and no one above them telling them whats right and wrong. No true Manager in the office to keep everyone in line, too much gets affected by long term employees thoughts and emotional feelings.

I come from a generation where professionalism is a must.
Dressing appropriately for business as well as punctuation is critical in a customer service environment.
I pride myself on multitasking and speaking with customers as they were part of my family.

If you want an easy going job with a really laid back manager this is for you. Not much area for growth. Some cool company events. Normal working hours, never had to stay past 5pm. A little boring but people are fun. 

Working at Athletic Knit was a great experience. The company care for the well being and safety of their employees. I have nothing bad to say about the company, I overall had a great experience for being a summer position.
