Unless you're alumni or connected to the school in some way prior to being hired, don't go in thinking you can effect change. 'Outsiders not welcome' is definitely a vibe here. If you like to keep your head down, not question anything and like to be told how to do your job despite being the expert in your field, you'll do just fine.

Leadership for the most part is terrible. Arrogant, don't value the staff they have, don't care if long-time dedicated staff leave. Little to no communication externally or internally. No one replies to emails  (some exceptions). Nothing gets done in a timely manner. 

Human Resources office has gone from professional and willing to assist (those staff left) to a bully who doesn't advocate for staff, only for leadership. Unprofessional and a total lack of confidentiality. Don't go to HR about anything private if you want it to stay private.

I don't see Notre Dame returning to its vibrant, high enrolment, well respected hockey powerhouse days any time soon under the current leadership and some staff who refuse to look forward.

On a positive note, salaries are decent enough and the meal plan is a great, inexpensive option for those who don't live locally.

-do not get paid enough in comparison to how much you work
- very clicky with groups of staff, treatment of staff from co workers, no proper discipline, no HR to deal with issues, when issues are brought up nothing is done
-far behind in proper ways of supporting youth
-stuck in old ways of thinking
-will be their own detriment if they don’t break free from their old ways
-too many people doing too many different jobs but have more people filling certain jobs that don’t need that many people doing that job.
-not supportive or caring to new workers
-high rate of turn over


What is the best part of working at the company?
Working in a private school setting with great students and athletes.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Level of secrecy, lack of communication and inattentive leadership.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Silo mentality between departments. Close-to-the-chest attitude of directors. Inability to use one's strengths in their role.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
8:30 to 4:30 Monday to Friday, occasionally after hours or weekends pending events. Speaking to potential sponsors, donors and alumni.

It started out great then I realized my supervisor wasn’t who I thought they were. And things just got worse from there. Working for a narcissist is never mentally healthy. Other than that I liked the job itself and most of the people there.  It was an ideal job for ok salary. The hardest part was showing up to work and seeing my supervisor was there on the rare occasion that they showed up. The best part was seeing that my supervisor wasn’t there that day

Upper Management is not great to deal with budgets are unrealistic

Ok at times can be toxic but change is coming so they say

The day goes by quickly stay on track and do your job the day flys bye

Notre Dame has a long history having recently celebrated our centennial. The staff is amazing working tirelessly to make sure our students have the best opportunites to develop and guiding them as they journey towards adulthood. I feel that recent changes will allow for new and better experiences to emerge for staff and students and that with a little time, effort and support we can shape a bright future for the next 100 years.  

A typical day would start around 7-9 am depending on the times of hockey. We would take our teams around different activities throughout the day such as practices, games, workouts and team building exercise.
With this job i didn't find anything to hard because i enjoyed my time working and coaching the kids the game i have loved my whole life.

Decent place to work, but management will
Expect to much, with no raise. Left feeling burnt out at the end of the day. They preach and make you take all these modules about work place harassment and bullying, mental health, and more. But when someone is having issues with anything it’s never handled it’s always sticking up for the bully and pretty much forcing you out.

Amazing school with amazing history. If you are up for a fast-paced job that includes teaching and coaching this is your place. However, if you are not interested in wearing "multiple hats", this is not for you.

Great place to work, had a wonderful time there. The school needs to be renovated as well as new resources invested in the infrastructure and the community. It is a truly a hidden gem.
