Atkinson Landscaping

I have worked at Atkinson for just over 3 years now, starting from a labourer and working my way up to a Foreman. With my time at Atkinson I have not only been able to grow in the workplace but have also been able to grow as a person outside of work. This company has a great dynamic and tight knit, friendly culture without lacking professionalism. This culture stems from the owners all the way throughout the company, whether you’re newly hired or have been with them for a while. Everybody at the company does a great job with inclusivity, every employee is an integral part of the team at Atkinson and this makes for great morale in the workplace. This job will keep you on your toes and have you learning and growing in a very fun way. Some days/projects can be stressful but this is easily balanced out with an amazing team that never like to see other crews struggle and are always willing to lend a hand if needed. This is a company where you won’t find it hard to balance your work life with your everyday life. I myself and many other employees have been able to balance things such as post-secondary schooling, families and many other commitments while working here. There really are many great things I can say about my time with Atkinson. All in all, this company is a great place to work whether you are somebody just stepping into the workforce and trying to find a great first job or you are somebody looking for change and new place within the workforce.

During my time that I worked for Atkinson Landscaping, I would express that the company is one of the better companies I have worked for. In terms of management, they are fair and down to earth while constantly trying to better themselves with new ideas and different approaches in every situation. 

A nice aspect of this company is that the managers inquire about your life while getting to know you on a personal level which I value as being very important as having a good work/life relationship with your boss is always an asset making the work more enjoyable. 

It should be noted that this companies focuses heavily on teamwork makes the dream work. More times than not, you are assigned in groups to complete a task. You will briefly discuss the plan of action before every site making the vision come to fruition.  This concept makes the company flow very smoothly limiting the margin for error. 

In terms of the job itself, it can be physically demanding for those who are not active, but even if you are not the most physically fit, there is no need to worry as the job itself whips you into shape in no time. 

In terms of hours, I was a full-time employee who received 40-45 hours per week just like any other full-time position which is a bonus for those needing work. The job itself is rewarding and paid for a good portion of my schooling. 

All in all, I can honestly say nothing but good things about this fast paced and collaborative company and would be more than happy to work for them again if the opportunity came calling in the future.

Typical day at work starts around 8-830 depends where you’re working. The teams are good people and fun to work with. Easy jobs are nice and any hard jobs there’s always extra help. If you want there’s lots of  days you can finish early or if you want to work a full day there’s always options to go help someone. You get paid for overtime too which is rare for landscaping companies

You learn all the skills of landscaping but depends what division you’re in. Nice tools and machines.

The management is really good too it is a very fair place to work and the work culture is awesome 

Hardest part of the job is doing the leaves in fall but if you stay on top of it as they fall it’s not so bad just hard for like 2 weeks mostly 

Most enjoyable part is just how the company works and everyone gets to know each other and we do activities sometimes. We have a huge meeting every week and everyone in the company comes and hangs out for the morning and we share idea and fix up the work yard and there coffee and donuts 



I came into Atkinson with minimal landscaping experience, but was able to learn quickly due to the team they surrounded me with. They are very generous in allowing for your school schedule. Management is very team focused and super great to be around, and learn from. One of the only places where the boss will care about you outside of your work hours. They also have done a great job in my year working here at bringing in people who are ready to work hard, do quality work, and learn. I don't think you could go anywhere else and find a greater work culture. Being in Surrey there are tough rainy days, and it can be hard having a good attitude, but the team is always there to help each other out and keep spirits up

Working for Atkinson has been a great experience overall. They’re super team focused, and the work can sometimes be hard but seeing the finished product will always make it worth it, especially with the standard of quality these guys have and the care they take. 

The pay was good for the industry, and there’s plenty of room to learn and grow within the company. Super fun group of guys to work with and get to know, would highly recommend. 

I worked at Atkinson for a year and could I tell you it was great. They are flexible with your schedule for appointments and school, and are always there to help when you need help, or improvement. Unfortunately I had to quit since I was about to go into full-time school, and I honestly did not want to leave. I highly recommend working here if you are looking for a great workplace and hard work.

Working for Atkinson Landscaping is the perfect amount of rewarding and challenging. The work can be hard, but the people that you get to work with and work for make it worth while. The pay is above market for the industry and its a great community to be a part of!

A company that not only sets you up for success but integrates quality down to the smallest detail. Fun environment with owners that care. The team always helps each other out and leaves nobody struggling.

Atkinson has the best bosses you could ask for and team members ready to help out everyday. The work although sometimes hard is well worth seeing the smiles on clients faces and the finished product of your work set forth

Very professionally run company- The owners are very involved in ensuring employee care. Management is always on the ball and listens well to needs of the company and employees.  Love going to work everyday. A great mix of fun, professionalism and consistency.
