An ongoing basis - The general office may become top priority especially when an emergency occurs that needs the building facility department.  This also includes - cleaners, Cintas Canada Limited, kitchen supplies and clean-up and the office in general.
Expansion of office - organized offices, furniture, kitchen addition (incl. ordering cupboards), pictures, trees and signage. 
This was an expansion of my talents in which I did a very good job doing.

Daily –Receptionist duties including; greeting clients, answering phones, booked boardrooms, ordered catering, couriers, mail and social clubs.
Throughout day; photocopying, scanning, binding, cell phone distribution, reports from VP Operations, General Manager or Managers.
Priorities also included; data entry of proposals/projects, data entry of proposals over $100,000. 
Weekly/Monthly – 
VP Operations - Monthly Management Report (to Vancouver) Office Contracts, Budget information.
General Manager – Meeting minutes; Month-end reports (Proposal/Project/Win/A/R); Designed new reports; Promotional gifts for exhibits.
Human Resources – Data entry of CV’s; Quality Management Systems; Attendance sheets; was Training Administrator; Timesheet coordinator.
Health & Safety - Sub-contractor updates; MSDS binder updates; Certification of Insurance/WSIB; Canada-wide sub-contractor data entry.

Hardest Part - They taught me to stand back from job when it was too much and do not hesitate to say “no”.
Most enjoyable - This job expanded my capacities in all sectors of the work.  I thank them for giving me the leeway of showing all that I could do and they replied by making me open up all new projects, even those going to other staff to complete.  I enjoyed designing new reports that increased the information obtained, made easy for the staff to fill in as well as for me to enter into the database entry.  I also taught many of these reports to others in which they responded to the VP of Operations; “they learned more from me than the original teaching”.

It is a decent company to work for.  I don't mind being available 24/7 and I do like being busy with challenges on both a large and small scale.  Seeing real change in the perception of how the company views our IT department is quite rewarding as well, though it may seem an uphill battle some of the time.

My days are filled with minor tickets through the remedy ticket system and at least 2 large projects on the go at any given time.  The main challenge seems to be moving away from the old ways of things just working and moving to a documented process orientated environment.  I am learning new products and ways of doing things all the time which is nice.  Management is very accommodating for guidance and the atmosphere around my managers and co-workers is very relaxed.

The hardest part of the job seems to be finding time for everything as we replace an aging infrastructure (we are just completing our migration from xp to win 7) and knowing the unknown variables that arise.  The importance of vendor management and escalation paths is a little new to me, I've worked closely with vendors to learn different products but this is more getting them to implement solutions and working out how these solutions will fit in the current and future environment.  We learn by watching them implement instead of learning while working with them if you see the difference there.

I feel like we just need to get over this hump and then the job will become less fixing and more planning.  Possibly from good to great, we are almost there!  I really enjoy that sense of accomplishment.

I had the opportunity last summer to work at SNC-Lavalin as an engineering assistant. When I got there, there were several learning modules on the computers to help me learn more about the company, and projects that SNC was involved in. From this experience, I was able to learn how an engineering firm worked at the project management level. I created workflow diagrams and online modules for sections such as change management, lessons learned, and health and safety. I can definitely say that the engineering industry is very "procedural" based, as there are numerous types of workflows for documents in each department. The work environment itself was also amazing. All the employees were fantastic, there were interesting meetings going on every week for employees to apply and learn new things (such as ergonomics 101, help for creating a report, etc), health and safety meetings every week to keep us on our toes, and the office had ergonomic furniture and lighting too (very good for the eyes and back). The hardest part I'd have to say is adjusting to it at the very beginning. I never had a chance to work at an office and was piled with lots of work from time to time. Skills that I have transferred into my portfolio would be communication, time management, organization, problem solving and leadership skills.

A typical night at work ( I always worked the night shift) was preparing and making sandwiches for 1600 to 2900 people.It consisted of a lot of work but I enjoyed my job.I had to use up what I could from dinner leftovers for sandwiches, wraps , pizzas etc plus  making the regular sandwiches. (ham/cheese, p. butter etc)
 I also made up trays of sandwiches for functions and meetings.
  I learned that everyone has strengths but are different so I would put each person where they were strongest suited. I learned not only to to listen but to hear. I learned how to give constructive criticism
  I didn't really have too much to do with management. I enjoyed my co workers except for the ones who didn't work as hard as everyone else. I believe in fairness. The hardest part of my job was seeing certain people abuse work in other areas...reported them but nothing was done about it at the time. That was frustrating. I loved being in camp and I was good at my job. I love working with people and I love being part of a team where the work is distributed evenly and each doing their share. That's what I did when i was lead.
 The most enjoyable part of my job was feeling valued for the hard work that I did.

for construction of mine construction camp and site infrastructure including: residence buildings, roads, airstrip with navigational aids, earthworks, blasting, fuel storage tanks\piping and containment and dispensing, power generation and distribution, potable water and sewage piping and treatment installations, structural steel and concrete. Also perform QC of works. 
•	Direct\assist construction trade forces• Ensure workers follow safety procedures and training
•	Ensure Owner owned equipment is fully certified for use and arrange for qualified service technicians
•	Attend daily construction meetings and participate in site training programs
•	Inspection construction works and ensure Contractors submit as-constructed data, testing and QC information
•	Assist Engineering Design with submission of site information.
•	Submit daily progress\site issue report to Project and Construction Managers.
•	Resolve site construction issues and problems

What is the best part of working at the company?
Your peers are most of the time exceptional individuals from all over the world with a variety of experience and different points of view.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No matter the perception they are trying to reinforce of You matter and You are respected.  The reality is that the company culture and philosophy is dictated by individuals  who have their own agenda.  Managers & directors fear for their own positions and therefore are just the voice of the higher echelons dictating their whims.  Fear trickles down and it is felt everywhere.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company culture is all good and well when it comes from the Office of the president.  It is bright and cheerful and sounds amazing.  Sadly, when it trickles down into the lower ranks towards the true workers.  They are at the mercy of the interpretation at the manager/Director/VP etc.  This is where the environment reflects the true company culture.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Once upon a time it was remarkable with peers working towards solutions.  Challenges that directly were within the competencies of the team.  I would say it was sensational.

There are many kind people working in the group, and I am appreciated working with them. I learned to embrace everyone's opinion and try not to discourage their effort. Managers are very kind-hearted people, they will listen to employee's development needs. There are many coworkers that are very helpful when I ask questions. And when they encountered difficulties, I always help them back. The hardest part of the job will be maintaining my life quality with the salary that I got, I can barely pay my bills, the supervisor mentions that they cannot control how much employee got, only HR can decide how much employee can get. HR doesn't understand how difficult the employee's low pay affecting their live quality, and they will always cut down the increase of salary. No matter how much effort the employee is putting towards company's development. The most enjoyable part of the job are I can help with other coworkers to solve their technical problem and they appreciated my help. Also I am able to learn new drafting technique with company approved program.

What is the best part of working at the company?
This company is not truly interested in human resources as such. It is clear that they are only interested in money. They assign you a project and only know about you in the semiannual performance evaluation. If you have a problem at the client's site the support they give you is minimal and they don't help you switch to another project if things don't go well. 
When you leave this company, they are extremely stingy with your settlement of monies they owe you. 
Summary: You work separated from the headquarters with which you have little sense of belonging.

Minimal support when you have problems at the client site where you have been assigned

Too stressful and little support for their employees to be successful in the projects they assign you

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy all the time. Extra time must almost always be worked to complete mandates. That time is rarely paid or recognized.
