Autocom Manufacturing

Every day you come in and prep your machines, make sure that your line is ready to go. Then you run some test parts, do some computerized offsets, and start the automated line. Throughout the day you continuously measure parts, troubleshoot problems, and perform minor maintenance on the equipment. At the end of the shift you do your paperwork, clean up, and go home.

I learned that I have a knack for technical things and that I can make a career working with technology. I learned that machinery will do what you want as long as you gently guide it in the right direction. But also, entropy always threatens complex systems and we need to be there to guide it.

The management was attentive to the needs of the employees and made a real effort to strike a balance between the needs of the machines and the needs of the employees. They had limited power to do this, but they improvised where they could and were always willing to talk and negotiate.

My co-workers were diverse in their attitudes and backgrounds. The people I worked with personally were interesting, vibrant people who were respectful, fun, and good conversationalists. There were many ethnic backgrounds and people from different cultures tended to stick with their groups. Lots of them were very poor with English, but they knew how to run the machines, they were friendly and they did lots of overtime. There were also many disgruntled, quiet people. This last group spanned all the ethnic groups.

The hardest part of the job was the schedule. Mandatory overtime and rotating shifts eliminated any social life and often drained my energy.

I loved working with the machines and learning about the process. There are so many layers to the manufacturing process and each layer is intricately detailed and a triumph of human technological ingenuity. I miss the machines almost as much as I miss the people.

The working environment in this facility is full of pressure and stress. Management feels that providing competitive wages is enough to increase the morale of employees. Little has been done to address this issue. In terms of moving up the corporate ladder, it is also very hard to achieve because people who have a lot of contacts get the position instead of someone who truly deserves the job

Clean and air conditioned, fast paced environment, lots of trouble shooting and some high stress situations. Can be plenty of overtime. Job security can also be an issue due to limited products being produced by the facility, and shifts aren't the best. 

Not a bad place to work if you are able to rotate days,afternoons, and nights every two weeks. There is also mandatory overtime every week, but unfortunately overtime does not take effect until you have reached 44 hours.

I love the 8-hour straight job. I have no questions about their salary and my medical and dental benefits. My supervisors and the HR people are nice. It's a fun loving and friendly environment.

Working at Autocom MFG was a pleasurable experience. My co-workers were always super friendly and helpful when I needed assistance. Management was always reliable when issues were addressed. Overall it was an enjoyable experience

I started work in Auto com in 2004 and it's a great company to work for. The company have great management and good co workers. Company care about their workers. Good benefits and great environment. Excellent company

A great company that is overrun by its own hubris and over two dozen layers of bureaucracy.

It is a friendly place to work and it is on a bus route.
