**The good:
Worked at Autodesk for over 10 years.. 

Software was amazing and fun to work with. 
Some good , friendly employees of all ages.
Salary was good !  Met nice people. 

**The bad:
Management was horrid, Horrid. Many employees, friends told me they felt threatened but were often distrustful to complain to HR as they'd fear retaliation and be put on the cutting block when time for layoffs came by. 

I noticed people who confronted management, spoke up, were often cut several months later or during layoff times. 

Their HR needs to Record All conversations managers have with employees >One on ones and group meetings.
Some managers put on the "i'm nice voice" if they are in public meetings. Totally different in private meetings. 

Threatening people, humiliating them , is not the way to get
more productivity out of a person. Sadly, this was told to me by many.

Putting lists of employees on a company internal website/dashboard, showing who's doing well and who is not > that's just mean , ignorant and lacks empathy. Such is the nature of some of their management /divisions.

Salary good but no sense of security by majority of employees. 
When  it comes to layoffs, they'll cut anyone / anytime  , Out of the blue,  to appease shareholders.  Usually before Christmas or in the summer. 

As another wrote earlier > some divisions are so badly managed. Folks with no actual real world experience make decisions while ignoring advice of seasoned employees who do have real production experience.

Good place to get your feet wet in the industry and move on once done.( since you have very little job security sense there )

While the company has what seems to be a very relaxed, "get your job done" atmosphere in the Montreal office, it also has some incredible perks. The cafeteria has an amazing espresso machine and coffee grinders to get you the best cup of coffee you will ever have at work (well, unless maybe you are a barista?). The bicycle garage is not only set up to hold dozens of bikes, it has a workstand, tools, chain lube, cleaners, a compressor; and to underline how important cycle commuting is, the company holds (world-wide) an annual Bike to Work Challenge.
I found the overall approach to working at Autodesk pleasant and conducive to achieving the task at hand without undue pressure. In this apparently relaxed mode, people get things done.
I would go back there in a minute if asked.
I found everyone I needed to work with to be helpful, friendly, and beyond those I worked with I experienced a friendliness I have not seen in other workplaces.
I also found the sense of camaraderie meant working with people in other offices (around the world) went just as well as working with people locally. The company makes good use of the resources it has so people can collaborate despite great distances.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nice people who are aware of how messed up things are.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Complete chaos. Endless production incidents and a complete absence of leadership and genuine ideas for how to deal with them. Responsibility for find a way to deal essentially all problems is chronically shifted to individual contributors. "This is a great opportunity for someone to step up and show leadership!"

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good culture, nice people, reasonable work environment except for the constant chaos.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Chaos. Production incidents constantly, requiring people to be on-call plus a second tier of people able to jump in and respond at short notice. A constant fire-hose of Slack messages on dozens of channels. Where the messages you need to know about will appear is entirely unpredictable.

The company is prestigious the office is great but the managers are horrible. HR are not helpful. They will say Work/Life Balance but they will not make you feel that way. This is a modern company with a very very horrible management who run it as if we are still in the 80's. Check the Integrity and Character of your managers. Check how they treat their employees. No one will last in that department until you do something about it.

Managers who are soft spoken does not mean they are nice. They are the ones who will stab you behind your back They will micro manage you until you die. Check the turn over rate of the departments in this location. 

Tip: Do not go to HR if you have complaints. You will not be heard. They will not do anything. For your own sake, resign and move on. That is the best that you can do.

There are a lot of nice people but just be careful with managers. They will eat you alive.

You get a good salary with benefits, 401K or RRSP matching there were stock options and bonuses paid annually. So Good pay.

Make no bones about it working at Autodesk is HIGH STRESS, many times I felt I was going in circles. I worked hard on some things only for them to get dropped or not supported. Management allowed workers to do their own thing often, but sometimes to the detriment to team efforts.

If you are looking for a long term job, it is unlikely you will last at Autodesk for more than 10 years. They cut staff almost annually, then rehired.

Flexible hours
co-workers were nice and friendly, they were willing to help with anything you had trouble with
learned different software, improved communication skills, 
enjoyable part was - communicating with people around the world, learning as many different software there is, using 3D printers to bring the CAD models into life

A typical day at work is characterized for the flexibility of the working hours and the large number of meetings.
Haven't learned as much as I would have liked regarding my job itself but I did learn about politics and politeness.

Good corporate culture. Some long days and hard work as is to be expected. Great people to work with. I would go back to work there in a heartbeat. Great teams and good people to work with. I did not mind putting in the hours to get the jobs done right.

Worked for 5 years and some fo the management and hr practices are just unethical. You stay quiet and heads down of you're a woman and figure a way out as there will be little options up. The culture is plagued by silos and cutthroat petty managers who dont think twice about firing you if you speak out.
