The Healthcare department is going down fast. They hire people with zero experience and promote them based on the amount of sucking up they can do. People with less than a year or two's worth of AB experience are made management; meanwhile lifelong employees are kept at mid-level (if they are lucky). Hard work is overlooked. Youth and attractiveness are not accomplishments, unless you work at Aviva. 

FLMS (managers) are racist, ageist, obnoxious, unprofessional, and rude to staff. The male FLMS are particularly bad. Snide comments about "go get your nails done" etc. and not including female staff on their "group bonding".  They also micromanage, but at the same time manage to ignore you when you need their help.

It's a Big Brother type atmosphere and they watch every move you make. Every keystroke is monitored. If you happen to be away from your desk and your Skype shows as AWAY, they ask you why are not working. Yet, they have no problems doing some shopping online. 

There is no consistency across the units or the company. Some people work 3-5 days a week at home with no issues. Others have to beg to work 1 day a week at home. 

They are using Systems Thinking and it's a disaster. It's going to sink Aviva and no one seems to want to open their eyes and see this. Management must do a good job selling it to the UK. Why they don't ask the "REAL" employees' opinions is beyond me.

The joke is that they preach openness but are the most secretive management I've ever worked with. Constant whispers and back door meetings. There are so many focus groups and committees and pilot projects that no one focuses on the real job at hand. 

Instructions on how to do your job change daily. And what you are told depends on who your FLM is.


The workload is a nightmare. Claims are not assigned but cherry-picked by staff from the system. Some adjusters have 150 claims but some manage to slide by with 100 or less. But does anyone care? No.

I don't know a single hard working person in that department that is not actively searching for a new job. 

I highly advise you avoid this company. Unless you are a Supermodel and just left kindergarten.

I had two positions: (1) call-center representative, (2) accounts receivable. Some days I was responsible for position 1, and other days I was responsible for position 2.

As a call-center rep, I must put myself as "call-available" at all times during office hours so I can tend to any client phone calls. When I am not addressing client call inquiries, I was responsible for fulfilling client emails. For both situations, tasks usually involved changing payment schedules, processing credit card payments, and reinstating insurance terms. 

I learned how call-centers work and the importance of being quick and efficient. I've also learned general terms such as PAC (pre-authorized chequing), DB (Direct Bill), and NSF (non-sufficient funds). 

As a member of the accounts receivable team, I had to scan through piles of cheques and extract certain information from it. Essentially, I was adding the cheque information to Aviva's chequing database, which was responsible for whether clients made their payments on time. This task involved a lot of double checking, as a single typo or error could potentially void a client's insurance. With the abundance of cheques that had to be processed, the goal was to go through as many as possible per day while also ensuring it the process was free of error. 

This task reinforced my understanding of chequing information, and my efficiency with a keyboard has improved.

Possibly the hardest part comes from the call-center position. After 2 months of answering phone calls non-stop, I experienced call center burn out where even the most simple tasks (such as responding to emails) became exhausting. 

The workplace culture was very pleasant; everyone was friendly toward one another and always ready to lend assistance. The workplace was free of any toxicity and rivalry. I feel this is what made the job more enjoyable.

great management, support, bonuses, work environment, company cars-several years.  enjoyed dealing with a multitude of clients and related fields. pleasant working conditions, mostly worked on my own with a secretary at Aviva but many co-workers at Allstate, State Farm, Vision Claims, I also handled the home,auto claims for the Ontario Police group private insurance( 20,000 members, O.P.P ,Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Regional police depts, First Nations, special constables & University Security systems. Also the O.R.P.A.-retired police officers assoc.   Police group was very interesting & enjoyable

Day starts at 8.00 am with dealing with  emails then start the days work and get in order of important as in service level and continue through the day,
Jobs vary from inspecting policy holder and third party  damaged vehicles on imaging and authorising repairs or dealing with as a total loss and settling with client, to agreeing cost's with a garage over the phone for repairs that have a total labour cost of less than £500, I may have to put a value on a stolen vehicle with information obtained from the policyholder or answer claims queries via the claims screen anything from number of hours a job should take to dealing with a customer who's vehicle has not had repairs done because no garage wants to fit a convertible roof due to lack of knowledge 
.
The above is a brief description in the day of my life at work, my day ends at 4.00pm

A typical day at work is analyzing risks and evaluating whether they are insurable and at what price.

I learned a lot about various industries and how they operate, what exposures are common in certain industries and how to apply a critical thought process quickly while trying to provide good customer service. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is that you are always learning something new everyday and you get to work with a lot of bright and talented people. 

The hardest part of the job is using inefficient systems and outdated tools to perform simple tasks. 

However, overall,  a nice place to work and a good corporate environment.

I absolutely loved working at DLG. I was with the company for 4 years and had 2 jobs in the marketing department. The group benefits are great such as 50% off home and motor insurance and free travel insurance and breakdown cover. But also loads of discounts for everyday things such as mobile phone contracts, holidays and supermarket shops. 

Particularly I loved the people in the company and I know that DLG not only hires based on skills and experience but also organisational fit and personality. We're all great people who love our jobs and want to do right by the customers. DLG truly believed in being customer centric and had its customers and employees at the heart of everything.

•	Leading the project by translating BRD into functional specifications, Process Flow diagram and User stories.
•	Coordinated with both business users and developers for arriving at a mutually acceptable solution for Guidewire Policy Center, Billing Center and Claim Center along with Financial Reports and Oracle GL.
•	Functioned as a liaison between clients and development teams to analyze opportunities for business process improvements relating to the Reporting Systems (from Guidewire Claim center and Billing Center).
•	Analyzing user Stories and providing clarifications to team’s queries for Acceptance Criteria.
•	Participated/Chaired in Defect Triage meeting to set the defects priority as per Business impact.

A typical day at work would be extremely busy.  Had to be very customer-focused.  

Learned that the customer is first and that the company is dedicated to satisfying its external customers and that they receive high quality service every time.

Management dedicated to seeing that staff is provided with top quality training and that staff see the environment as a friendly place to work. 

The hardest part of the job was keeping abreast of the constant changes.

The most enjoyable part of the job is making the customer experience an unforgettable one

analysis of commercial risks for the rating of premiums and underwriting requirements, loss/control. 
I learnt various computer systems that unfortunately were not well integrated with each other however it enhanced my ability to cope.
Management was hands off, allowed us to do our jobs with little interference @ the same time helpful and good morale boosters. Co-workers were very helpful and the candour was always nice, and friendly. Making sure that data and information was correct was a little tedious a times, somewhat boring not hard. Enjoyable part of the job, the interactions with the brokers whether it was negative or positive.
