Avocette Technologies

I worked under the management of Avocette for a total of 6 years but only 17 months under direct Corporate Management.

My role (I had several but was paid 1 salary) has seen 6 people move through it in 6 years. The Corporate Culture is in all honesty, toxic and all together unpleasant to work under.

If you are looking at this company as an internal candidate (as opposed to the external hiring Avocette does-which is fine), please reconsider your options.

They have 1 person who has a hand in almost every element of the company which has created a divisive atmosphere and a total lack of accountability. The strategy seems to be to save money at all costs even if it means driving good employees with talent out the door. The company has a revolving door syndrome in that it simply cannot keep or attract good talent (because Corporate simply does not want to pay for it).

After 6 years of navigating my way though the constant sexist, misogynistic minefields (not to mention the inappropriate private messaging from the owners of the company) all protected by my female manager (who's job was to sweep issues under the carpet and thus elevate herself within the company), I finally submitted my resignation. Female candidates: beware - you will NOT be heard or protected.

My overall experience with the people who worked within the company in Victoria was positive (great people), but if you are looking to advance your career or have any kind of autonomy as you grow within your career, look elsewhere. You will not get the salary or recognition you deserve - though they will indicate otherwise. The Corporate strategy is one that values secrecy, saving money and in many cases, lying directly to staff and vendors.
In all good conscience I could not recommend this company if you are looking to work internally within Avocette. 

As noted earlier, Avocette also offers IT staffing services where they find good candidates for other companies - this area of the company is good.

From the onset Avocette appeared to be a stable progressive company. It didn’t take long for the toxic environment to take hold. Management is all about bringing in revenue at the cost of high staff turnover and dissatisfaction. Logic does not prevail with this business. While I was very pleased with the other employees and collaboration, the turnover was too great to make relationships. Of the six employees in my pod, all had left or were fired within six months. I resigned. I felt I was fairly compensated and had generous leave... all carrots for the abusive, misogynistic environment they have created. Run in the opposite direction as fast as you can.

Avocette is a demanding place: they demand honest communication on what you need in order to do your role. They are patient and help you grow, as you help them grow. Management is open to suggestions on improvement to company process, procedures and company culture. It doesn’t matter where you work, salary wil never be enough. You’re not limited to what you role you started at, if you want more experience, they are happy to provide avenues for you to gain that experience.

Provide in-office games, like a pool table and  video games.
Hosts themed office parties for common holidays.
Surprise employees by bringing in coffee, catering lunch.
 
2. Challenging
Encourage employees to take on different responsibilities outside their daily tasks.
Use GOOD one-on-one meetings for thought-provoking career discussions.
 

3. Friendly
Creates a welcoming onboarding experience.
Holds quarterly, cross-departmental gatherings so employees get to know other teams.


the company just need people to work with minimum cost. 
I don't have anything learnt during my days in the company. 
I don't even get reimbursement for membership related to professional development.  

Avocette is a great company to work for with a friendly, flexible and inclusive environment with many different types of projects to gain experience. 

they hire people with low salary,  not care about the high turn over rate.
No room for staff to grow, not mange conflicts of interest  properly. 
not recommend to anyone.

Great place to work with great people. Management is great and they always keep everyone happy. Company has regular lunch events and company events. Very flexible work environment. This is a great company.

Avocette is a great place to learn,the work environment is good too. The downside is that they don't offer competitive salaries.They tend to hire junior positions in a low rate.
