Great atmosphere and all employees are very approachable, and supportive.  Work hours are typical  with the Overtime when available.  

Employee Review system to potentially give yourself a raise every 6 months can be difficult to navigate as 1 little slip up can potentially screw you up for the review term, as it is all data driven info.

Love the fact that there is no rat race drive to the city and the company does not look to become a 
 massive corporate giant over a short amount of time. The owner knows everyone personally! not bad for 150 plus ppl!  There is a reason they have been in business for over 40 years and have many employees that celebrate in 20 plus year of employment.

Year end Bonus system is a great way to stay focused as the company equally shares in the profits, even all the way down to the little guy with monetary payouts.

Benefits are decent and management has made changes that will take effect soon,   Should yield better support for the employees.

Some of the equipment can be reviewed to hold more efficient throughput.   The robotic cells are pretty cool!

There could be some more employee perks other than the free coffee and cream.  But not having to hit a tims before work is pretty awesome thought!

No shopcoats provided....   bring your own????   Pretty dumb.

My Safety always came 1st, as did every other employees.   That always made me feel important.

BC Instruments is a company that thrives on good quality products. Operators on the floor put effort into producing high quality parts and products efficiently. However, regardless of the work put in on the shop floor, management has its flaws. Although the issues may be a reoccurring problem, it doesn’t take away from the benefits the company has to offer. Cross training machines, opportunities to grow and learn are available. BCI is also an understanding company. They listen and they learn, which is an admirable quality you don’t often find in companies, especially in this industry. My experience at BC Instruments has taught me to appreciate my job, and the opportunities it has presented to me. No company is perfect, but in my opinion BCI has done a great job at putting in the effort and trying.

I have been with the company for 22yrs, I started as a Bench Operator with zero experience, then became a Supervisor and am now a Project Coordinator. BCI trained me, gave me with the skills and opportunities to move forward and climb the ladder. The profit sharing that BCI shares with all employees has allowed me to take great vacations, renovate my house, put a down payment on my house. People think I'm crazy for working outside the city - yes I travel a little further but spend less time traveling than my friends and family as for the most part I'm traveling against the traffic and there are very little intersection lights to slow travel time down. I am very happy here and have even recommended the company to family and friends - some of whom work here now too.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Everything is great until it's not. Signing an agreement isn't enough to get them to honour's it. Co workers are great, expect to get railroaded if it suits management's present needs.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not super stressful. Workload got much lighter since new management took over.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very helpful when you need it, everyone is friendly for the most part. Try not to let give them something to gossip about. If they say it once it tends to stick regardless of whether it's true or not.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
For the most part you are left to do your work, micro managing only occurred in rare occasions.

I have spent several years with the company and grown throughout the years thru various positions and sections.  Everyday I get pushed to challenge and develop myself in an array of different areas from manufacturing, quality, tool development all the way to my interpersonal skills development .  I find that the continuous Improvement mentality within the company helps up to improve daily and see the benefits within.  In my opinion the best part of working at BCI  is that my manager continually works hard to provide a positive and creative work environment which shows well in my coworkers attitudes.

The employees and the managers who you are working with are really good but the administration (HR) is not the perfect fit for the company, the HR doesn't value the employee but act like she cares during the interview process. I worked with so many people who have been working there for more than 30 years in the same position with little percentage of wage increase. No opportunities to grow, if you're looking to learn and grow yourself.

In my position the typical day can be very fascinating.  With constant contact to customers, it is always interesting and challenging to satisfy their requirements.  It can be challenging, because sometimes their wishes are urgent and one has to line up several suppliers to fulfill our customer's needs.  Very gratifying when all falls into its place.

Bc Instruments provides a challenging work environment where people can start from the beginning of a career in machining, then learn as they go with a strong team to back them up. Bc Instruments promotes all employees working together on problem solving and continuous improvement initiative's.

Every employee enjoys there day at BC-INSTRUMENTS,
they come in very positive and at the end of the day feel they have accomplished great product and customer satisfaction, Management is always willing to help out their teams, 
The best part of the job is the people and feeling an accomplishment at the end of the day.

This place is not a very well managed environment, Team Leaders are very unfair and to the point of bullying/ harassment.. its a" paid for value" system so if they do not advance you.. you will not receive a raise,, some employees have not received a raise for 1.5 yrs or more.. 
 I would not recommend working here
