BBA was a really enriching experience where you are not seen as a simple employee but a important link in the chain of company. The projects where very stimulating and the people polite and respectful. You could really talk to a director if you had a question and not necessarily to you direct supervisor. I have to say that in general, the salary isn’t quite good from what you would expect for the high expertises of the firm. This was criticized by a vast majority of employees when i was there. But overall, The project that i have done were so much valuable for my experience and career that i would do it again if i had to start over. 

A innovative mining and resource provider that needs to change former set marketing plan to new normal.

After 5yrs plus as top industry employer lost this ranking in 2014 and forced to let go 40% of employees.  Seeing a company shed its most valued resource (employees) never gets easier, but one is satisfied when a client thanks you for a job others have failed to solve

The mechanical engineering work is technically challenging and the team has fair expectations for each person at their level.  Most work is in hydroelectric, mining, first nations off grid power and carbon capture. Senior engineers/project managers coach and delegate to people that are developing their skills.  Work at BBA is highly technical so P.Eng can expect to use their stamp often.  

Senior member brings lot of unnecessary trouble to junior staff of color. 
Recruiter were nice and i have heard their HQ has good culture in Quebec & Vancouver.


I was technical engineer for the Mica generators design review.( 2 units, each unit 570 MVA in BC)
Also I prepared procedure for GM Shrum turbine rehabilitation project (5 units). It was very interesting for me and I was good relationship with my colleagues. We prepared the reports and ducments and sent to the clients.

Brilliant minds work here.  They understand client needs and offer more for less.  Environmentally focused in all their mandates.  Progressive not only in the engineering work they do, but also in their desire to contribute to social, environmental and financial sustainability in every project.

BBA is one of the best structure company with all the needs that an EPCM need it to be successful.

Not open for changes, difficulties to adapt for new challenges

Great team to work with, some days are better than other, Management changes does affect the culture and focus of each office.
Vancouver offices is not well known in the industry yet as it was established a few years ago.

Mining is a cyclic business and the appreciation of the job at BBA also followed those cycles. The culture is great, but as a junior it was difficult to advance and be involved more importantly in projects.
