A typical day of work included, morning streches, gathering of tools, then head off to work area where you would prepare for the next concrete pour.I learned alot about how to pour concrete, mostly how to properly do large pours. Management never seemed to be on the same page with one another, all 3 superintendents never seemed to have all the same information at the same time. Kept 1 general foreman in position, although it was clear he did not have enough knowledge and experience to be a concrete general foreman. Safety was not the most important thing on site, witnessed tower cranes, carpenters and electricians have multiple incidents with no work stoppage or mention of incidents in morning meetings. Hardest part of the job was not knowing what type of unsafe situation you would find yourself in or around each day, the safety officers on the site were few and far between, and gave you the vibe that they would rather fire you then have to deal with you if you were found to be doing something unsafe. The most enjoyable part was the time spent at home, due to the long work schedule of 20 days on and 8 off. (which is actually 6)

The company on an overall scale of 1 to 10 I would say it would be at six but quality of work is good All the other equipment was somewhat not ready for working in extreme cold brought summer machines that weren’t equipped for the Canadian cold winters like their zoom booms steel floors no insulation and they figured because it was in the north they didn’t need air-conditioning because they weren’t ready for the cold weather. They give them lots of trouble nothing to see 30 zoom booms broke down.

typical day at work for me starts with a double double for tim hortons and the on from there  first part is usually a cross over with shift before and then your day planning begins, ensuring all workers are versed in the days days and make sure everyone is fit for duty .most enjoyable part of my job is making a diffrence ,ensuring everyone got home safe and the todays work was completed with the highest of standards.

One of the worst managed and unsafe job sites that I have ever worked on. I, as well as others were pushed off the job site for calling out management for severe safety concerns. Example, flying materials over workers heads with the cranes. Most of the management, supervisors and foremen we not experienced for what they were doing and anyone that didn't "tow their line" was removed from site so that they could continue their crooked ways.

The job is a union job, no matter how good you are they will find a flaw or flaws with your work. I have worked with the operating Engineer for 15 years, always had good evaluations.
  Went to work with a foreman for 2 days and he done an evaluation for termination,the evaluation  was at the end of 3 month trial.
  This guy was just promoted to foreman, that explains it all.
Do not work here if you can avoid it.

Most all the foreman are immature and the management seems to like that. They micro manage and treat you like garbage and have no trust in anyone. It is the most clicky jobsite I have ever been on and if they don't like you they will make up lies and get you fired. Not just my experience but what happened to many others before me. Avoid at all costs if you are a self respecting professional Journeyman

3 years working for sub of Manitoba Hydro.  If you've never built a dam, this is the place.. 2 1/2 hr bus ride in to or from Thompson.  Once you're in camp, you are there for 3 weeks, no exploring around the area..  Sometimes inadequate communication between trades and supervision resulting in painful rework..

Very remote location. 

Hard to get to job location. Local people not overly friendly.
Most professional employees were friendly and helpful.

Management was good and upbeat.

Camp could use improvement in cleanliness and customer service from some of the day to day workers. Not overly knowledgeable about customer service.

Overall the company was good. tools were always top notch and readily available. I found that there were almost as many foreman's and superintendents as there were workers. The money was good but not great considering being away from your family for 3 weeks at a time.

This is a great company to work . a typical day working at the Keeyask dam project lead by an excellent group of Gf's in a safe work environment, the work place culture was inclusion and fairness the most enjoyable part of the job is the opportunity to work at the Keeyask project and being given an opportunity to work with a great company .
