A typical day at work: Managing emails and meetings. I also provide process and system expertise to a young staff; this includes supporting the Warehouse Manager, Director of Operation and Supervisors. Currently I am working on an SAP upgrade project - The good portion of my day is spent working with a larger cross functional team, both in Canada and the US, in setting up process and data for the distribution center to support the SAP upgrade from 4.0 to 6.0.

What have I learned; Process and systems can only perform transactional outputs, but people are key. Over my 13 years at BD, people still remain key. Much like any systems or processes, people need the same care. Maintaining strong relationships and creating new ones is essential. Respect and good old fashion hard work remain essential.

Management; I have worked closely with 5 managers in the past 4 years while having 9 different managers in my 13 year stay. The managerial style had been different in all accounts. Adapt or sink is my saying. I’ve been able to adapt to the constant change of style over the years.

Co-workers; Hardworking & never settling for nothing but the best. What a great team.

The hardest thing about my job; The knowledge transfer to new associates proves challenging, specifically when managers would like to see the learning curve shrink from 8 months to 1 month.

The most enjoyable part of my job; Being able to help others and teach others. When my colleagues are struggling with process or systems, I’ve been able to help. Being that person is honorable and I owe my company many thanks for granting me the opportunities to get to the level I’m at.

As the work tends to be going to hospitals to work with their Med-Tech department running preventative maintenance on their devices, the work itself isn't difficult, just time consuming and somewhat repetitive. 

The problems come into play due to the nature of the work; lots of managers and not so much coordination with the hospital staff.

Jobs can be skewed due to the hospital not coordinating properly enough to have a designated space large enough to house the help, or by not coordinating with the departments of the hospital to actually know where the devices are.

When it works, the work goes quick and easy. Just lots of possible ways to go wrong.

Don't even get me started on the sorts of crazy stuff that will happen in regards to getting car rentals or hotel rooms reserved on short notice. They tend to reimburse fairly well over any costs incurred at least.

You also may or may not get work just based on if they remember you exist. So it comes in waves if at all.

Unfortunately, HR (and by supposition, Management) has demonstrated that they can be easily conned and swayed by the few unscrupulous employees.  This is inherent now in HR because of the trend of hiring less experienced individuals and leaders with little relevant background, Additionally, because of the internal unrest as a consequence of recent acquisitions and the pressure to satisfy "Wall Street", a culture of actions before true and honest and objective due diligence is dominating.  An amateur will always react for what is deemed positive in the short term for a certain result, when in fact the same person with some experience and clear understanding of a situation and its consequences will either initiate or solve the problem in a different and more effective manner. 
So the bi-product is creating a group of people lacking trust, behaviors that demonstrate and enable that lack of trust and a culture that is not healthy from the inside.

I work as H.R Manager report direct to the Plant Manger.
my main responsabilities :
• Lead the Human Resources area, in charge: salary ,surveys’, benefits, payroll, recruit, hiring, training , guards, cafeteria, transportation, doctor.
• Involved in JDE and ERP.
• Develop and Manage strategies to achieve goals for human resources and costs.
• Management of the daily factory Human resources activities.
• Improve Lean Manufacture.,6 Sigma, World Class.
• Improve with the matrix of Skills for each business area.
• Improve ISO-13485 and maintain the Registration.
• Internal communication.
• Turnover & Absenteeism plan.

- No job security for shared services, unless you are in the core business. 
- Performance does not count when it comes to cost saving/outsourcing.
- Dramatic change in culture with every general manager (Two of the last three general managers) resigned.
- Growth is very limited at site Canada.
- Networking will play a major role in job security.

The harder you work the more likely someone will take credit or set you up. It's those people who get promoted. External hires for all promotable positions instead of internal candidates is the way they like it. Unskilled external folks who need to be trained by tenured employees who are organizationally under them.

Worked at BD for 3 years. Great coworkers and benefits. There was a lot of work but the environment was fun so it was well worth it. 
I have made lots of great friends to this day. There is also lots of opportunities for learning and development. Also great for collaborating with other departments so you get insight into other groups you may be interested in. 

Allows to manage work load, plan and execute orders assigned.
Exposed to different areas of distribution center to gain experience.
Daily team meetings for volume and any updates.
Unexpected rush orders and closing activities at the end of the day. 
Training, lunch and learn sessions, holiday activities, safety meetings.

A day at work at carefusion is filled with all sorts of challenges, you will never get bored, there are all kinds of people who work there, the hardest part of the job is to meet the ever growing demand with less and less employees, the most enjoyable part of the job is to be able to help people and find inventive ways to solve problems

Corporate restructuring all the time, consolidating and outsourcing impacted many jobs in search of lower cost operators. Typical cost saving strategies...Too many changes with GM role.. impact senior leadership team which struggles with strategy implementation and execution gaps impacts all associates..
