I strongly advise that you read everything below. Please keep in mind that I am coming from the perspective of an office employee in an engineering / project management role.

Good:

- There is a lot that can be learned if you have the time. However, workloads grow very quickly, and downtime for training is non-existent, so it is difficult to take advantage of this.

- You can choose your hours and disciplinary action is non-existent – perfect for slackers.

- Most of the people are friendly and helpful – you are likely to make at least one friend here.

- Free pizza lunch occasionally – do you sense the sarcasm?

Bad:

- You WILL be blindsided with sudden changes to policies, pay structures, etc. with no opportunity for discussion or negotiation. While incentives such as overtime pay and banked time are technically offered, they can and WILL be taken away very quickly and without notice at the company's discretion.

- Your compensation WILL be capped at 15-20% below the market average, if not even lower. The company is greatly out of touch with the market's going rates. If you want to be paid an average wage/salary, expect to have to negotiate very aggressively for even the chance to receive the low end of average.

- While the company does experience slow periods (like all companies), the busy periods skyrocket quickly and last much longer than the slow periods. I bring this point up because the company likes to use the obvious impending slow periods to convince employees to accept low pay. This does not make up for the low pay that employees receive during the much longer busy periods.

- There are manipulative parties that will gaslight and guilt-trip you when you least expect it, over the most minute details or tasks. Expect a lot of hypocrisy from these manipulative parties on a day-to-day basis.

- Promises of profit sharing, bonuses, and raises are usually broken, followed by passionate explanations about how times are tough and that employees should just be grateful for being compensated at all.

- Ridiculous deadlines are normal and employees are expected to meet them. This would be fine if the compensation packaged reflected the required time and energy, but unfortunately it does not. You're better off working in a different toxic culture that pays much more.

- The company does not reimburse fees for employees' professional designations. This is a minor point, but worth noting given the common practice of companies paying for their employees' licenses and professional development, especially considering the compensation is already greatly below the market average.

I can go on and on with a list, but these are the major points. If you are desperate for a job and just need an income immediately to cover your expenses, you can do worse.

However, I strongly advise against staying here too long, especially if you are young and do not have many obligations (such as a mortgage or family) yet. Also, if you do decide to work here, do not make the mistakes of being honest with the company or staying for too long. Use it as a step job and try to learn what you can (though admittedly it would be tough to make time for this given the workload).



Bi Pure water has been a great company to work for because of their workplace safety programs and great work environment. They encourage a work/life balance and treat the staff well. Every project is different so it keeps you engaged and challenged. Many different trades under one roof so you get the chance to experience different types of work and how they all operate to make a water treatment plant. Owner is always open to talk and encourages growth within the company with extra courses to better yourself and help grow the company. Company bbq's and events happen throughout the year to help everyone in the workplace bond and work well as a team. The trades in the workplace strive to put out their best work. Quality of work is held high and making the customer happy is priority.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The people here are all genuinely nice and caring. It is a honour and a pleasure to work here🤣 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Nothing really. Sometimes logistics and parts don't come on time so deadlines are at risk. That's pretty much it. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I personally love the environment and culture. We always welcome the newbies in with warmth, kindness and respect 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
8-4:30 I spend my day managing the inside sales department. Corresponing with customers, vendors, warehouse staff, engineers, the cad department, service department, shipping etc.

I love my work, I find the management the least micro-managed I've ever experienced. I am free to make suggestions, plan my workday and goals, am constantly challenged in interesting ways, and working in water is more interesting than I could have imagined, every day learning. I like all the people I work with and it's a real team environment, I think there's alot of mutual respect among all departments. Work deadlines keep it exciting. They have been very flexible for family commitments etc. I have been able to flex my hours, shorten or lengthen my work week according to amount of work or outside commitments.

the "engineering" team doesnt know what they are doing halve the time. always making guesses and asking the trades guys what to do. the 3d team is slow and always makes mistakes. some of the shop guys are good but others are lazy or bad attitudes. they hire new grads or green engineers that have potential but cant learn fast enogh cause lots of things happen at the same time. the owner seems nice a lot but can also set bad deadlines that cant be met and wont pay his people proper wages. people leave for new jobs when they get frustrated or learn enough to get a real paying job. overall hard to recommend this company to anyone 1/5 stars

This is the worst place I have working in my field.  The term "micromanagement" was surely have been invented there.  You will experience regular meetings that are designed to be demining, hostile behavior from shop management is tolerated, extremely shady behavior from the so-called HR professional, inflexible work hours, very low pay, and just a lack of professional behavior from the owners and managers.  You are a servant and not a respected employee, no matter what your title and skill levels are.  Avoid this place, otherwise it will be the bottom that all bad jobs are measured.

Ideal company for both entry level and experienced engineers to learn and grow in the field of water/wastewater treatment. Excellent opportunities to learn detailed design which is rare in many companies these days. A small company offers a lot of flexibility and opportunities of development unlike medium or larger organizations. Very friendly work environment with great work-life balance.

They have trouble keeping people busy, the pay is low. They try to send you out of town, with no benefit (wage) the living conditions at different sites is poor. Mold in living areas, unable to lock own rooms, travel on weekends with layovers causing missed work days. 
On site poor planning, not proper material on remote sites for installs, causing many days of “waiting”  main site worker is extremely difficult to work with and will “breathe down neck” watching your every move.

Not stressful at all. Every company has good and bad

Great and friendly people to work with

Busy day and everyday we learn new stuff

It's a relaxed workflow for the most part but it can get tense around deadlines. 
If you're looking to expand your electrical experience and learn new things every day, then this is the place.
You will come out of this place a very well-rounded electrician if you put in the work and are independent enough to take on jobs.
