It's the slow pace of work that surprises most people when they start here, but realising these are nuclear components and quality is upmost importance, that means Q.C. comes first. 

You may be on stand-by for a job until Q.C. gives the OK to proceed. that could take minutes or several hours depending on which part of the job. Usually when that happens people are assigned to other jobs nearby that may need extra man power or if nothing is available shop clean up until the job is ready to continue.

Most of the Supervisory Staff are pleasant to work with, though there are always some people that just come off the wrong way.
Same goes for the employees on the shop floor, all in all a good crew for the most part.

Wages here are some of the higher paying in Southwestern Ontario particularly if you're at entry level. 

The slower pace is the hardest part of this job, there have been some employees in the past who have left simply because they were going stir crazy. If you are someone who needs to keep busy you may want to focus your efforts elsewhere. that aside,

I highly recommend working here!

I have worked as a QC Inspector Level C at BWXT and tendered my resignation recently after 3 years. I wouldn't recommend investing much in this company career-wise and mentally! Extreme micromanagement by unappreciative management and supervisors who are mostly unfit and incompetent or still stuck in the 80s mindset of running a business. I don't mean to put this as daily harassment but be ready to get blamed for someone else's wrongdoing or be thrown underneath the bus routinely. Do not expect to have any career advancement based on fair opportunities and qualifications unless you have some connections and expect to be working in a stressful workplace. BWXT Cambridge is a steppingstone at best especially for the younger locals.

It is an extremely dirty place to work especially as a welder. However you mostly will not be welding rather you will be grinding for weeks on end. The culture is not a place you want to be around. There is zero training. I moved to a new section and was told to do a job I have never heard of and good luck. As well as if you have not been there for a while consider yourself on your own. But ya it pays well. So if your looking for a job where you are just a number and you love to be dirty and be full of grinding at the end of the day but make an ok check. This is the place for you.

The overtime is double time and the pay is good.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working with radiation but honestly the people too. You better fit in fast or get left out.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Management does not care for you. They treat you like a machine part. And people are super passive aggressive. And in someone doesn't like you in a higher position then you good luck.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
There is no typical day you can do something different everyday.

Great company to work for and treat you with respect. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Nothing at all. They have a great manager in the Quality department and it was a pleasure to work for Bob.

Awesome. All the coworkers were very knowledgeable and helpful. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Fun. Company is awesome and the staff is amazing.

The Union means nothing in this place. They will have slimy union members help management set people up to take them out. Someone's always making a deal. The QC guys are unskilled and alot of the work force is also, because the skilled guys get bored of the work or tired of the sliminess and QUIT. Money is Good. The shifts are good. The environment is toxic. It Only took a year in to notice how bad it was. 7 month probation period as well and a CLEAN shaven policy. It's a political train wreck.

Incompetent and unprofessional managers in the offices and the shop make you want to reconsider your employment with BWXT Cambridge. People without proper qualifications carry titles such as engineer or production manager or quality control/assurance managers. Quality is not being taken seriously in production of nuclear equipment. Union employees are mostly fun and friendly except certain known individuals that you have to stay away from. The HR is useless and unsupportive. In general a very stressful and toxic work environment. 

There was so much potential at this location. Unfortunately, since BWXT took it over from the former employer, the place has become terrible to work at. Management doesn't know what they're doing, doesn't know how to schedule and always blames other people to avoid and deflect. The majority of the development techs are looking for other work and many have already quit as they find better employers to work for.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The hours are nice, four 10 hour shifts on days and afternoons. So you have a long weekend every week, in the summer that is the best.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The weather can be in the winter, but that’s anywhere you work.🤷‍♂️

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Mostly peaceful , everyone gets along. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A bit long with the two extra hours per day, but worth it with the long weekend.

Environment managerially is inexperienced, lacking any academics, and overall any compassion for anyone under their tenure that has any form of disabilities. Management will go to great lengths to exhaust one with disabilities or ailments to the point of making their disability worse on an emotional level. HR, company nurses, management work cohesively to find unfounded claims to why you should not work for them and force you out.
