I love my co-workers. Some of the best people I've ever worked with. The best forklift drivers I've ever dealt with. However the Shipping department management is bottom of the barrel. The HR department is bottom of the barrel. Office staff think they are better than the yard staff production workers and drivers. They have zero maintenance plan for their fleet. I constantly have 4 to 6 maintenance issues a week. Too cheap to pay for proper maintenance or equipment to do my job. Can't even give me a phone number or address to make a delivery. HR will take management's side even without hearing your side. Expected to drive trucks that leak oil and have mold growing in them. Have lots of money for supervisor bonuses and brand new factories. 25 dollars an hour to drive super b flat bed is an absolute joke. Can't wait to be outta there. 

They have a work environment that’s hard to beat. Lots of fun, relaxed and hard-working people who care about the company and what they do with lots of staff events to continue building those relationships!

The management teams top priorities are people, quality and then capacity (and in that order). They are easy to talk to, well structured, good planners, and have very regular communication to the whole company of what’s happening, what to expect etc. You will also be coached regularly and held accountable to growing in your career by them. 

The HR team also cares tremendously about helping each person thrive and be happy at work, and always go way out of their way to do so.

I would highly recommend planting your roots at Barkman long-term!

This company by far has to be the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my career. They don’t care about you or your well being. Let’s say you get sick. They’ll give you time off to rest and recover, but then a month later they will fire you, because you were sick. Their policy of “if you’re sick, don’t come to work” is a joke. They even will go as far as saying that you’re abandoning your position, for doing basic human needs, such as using the bathroom or getting a quick drink. I discourage anyone from working there if you value your mental health and self-worth. By far the worst place to work!!

The only plus side is your co-workers are amazing human beings!

Attention Millwright and Mechanics, or  Millwright apprentice , barkman is a great place to be a Mechanic/ Millwright. You have a good opportunity to advance your knowledge as the have modern Hydraulic equipment/ pneumatic equipment/ gearbox/ conveyors / mixer/ Forklift/ PLC/ small tools/ metal fabrication opportunities/ CWB welding opportunities/ class 5 boiler opportunity etc.  It’s a good team off smart individuals who make the Maintenance team. Good Management and wages are comparable to industry standards.

Micro managing by fellow employees and management letting it happen

To many employees doing  the same job and not enough equipment

I enjoyed working with this company.  The work was hard, but I enjoyed the challenge and keeping busy. The day consisted of preparing form for concrete in the morning with concrete being poured in a.m.  I liked the people I worked with.  The most enjoyable part of the day was in the afternoon when most of the hardest part of the job was done.

Barkman is a wonderful company to work for. Management really puts the employees first. They provide their workers with safety training, courses to improve their jobs, PPE, Appreciation meals and company events, and much more.
I feel valued as an employee, and I enjoy the people I work with.
Barkman has great benefits and competitive wages. 

A typical day at work is you usually doing the same thing all day. i learned that if the job is not for you don't stay and reach high on your dream job. the management and other employees are friendly even if it's the other race as you are. the hardest part of the job is only having 15 minutes break after that going back to work again. that's the main reason why i got appendectonomy surgery.

a typical day at barkman concrete was starting work at 7:00 am getting the shop organized for the day then start working, we would get 2 15 minute breaks and 1 30 minute break for lunch, at barkman concrete i leaned how to patch planters and sand planters and mix concrete.

Very poor management, no training all though Barkman claim they have. Asking questions Barkman classify that as a weakness. Very good example of poor management. Very poor pay, again the verbal amount was not even close to the real pay. Poor benefits, what they say is not what you get. Do not work there, very high turnover of staff.
